I have been on methotrexate and celebrex for at least 15 years, probably long. I am currently in a tremendous amount of pain in my fingers, elbows, shoulders, left knee and left hip. Volteran gel has not helped at all and neither has Aleve. Can I take tramadol with these two drugs? I have recently switched my insurance and am waiting to get into a new rheumatologist.
Is methotrexate worth it? My mother was on methotrexate for quite a long period, but eventually decided that she'd rather take herself off the treatment because of how badly it was affecting her. She was a teacher and had to take the methotrexate over weekends because it made her so nautious and fatigued.
He injected my knee and wrist with Depomedrol, ordered blood work and gave me prescriptions for methotrexate, and celebrex. He never explained any of the side effects of either. Ask for the Cymbalta to be switched to Zoloft, have the methotrexate switched for imuran, and see if Plaquenil is available for you. I take Celebrex for the joint pain, and notice that once in a while the pain comes back and I stop the celebrex for 2 weeks, which definitely means unbearable pain, but once I start it again, it takes it all away. I think my body just gets immune to it all.
I was diagnosed 8/07 and am now on Plaquenil and Methotrexate. It can take up to 3 months to know if these drugs help. Still trying to get the dosages and combination of drugs right and may be going to Enbrel or Humira soon.

Hi, my mother is 52 years old she suffers from rheumatoid arthritis and it is currently in treatment to control the pain. Every 4 to 5 weeks she gets remicade and has to take methotrexate for the treatment to work. Also, in order to keep any flare up pains away she occasionally takes advil, darvocet, or celebrex (not all three together). On saturday her right leg below her knee started to swell up and yesterday it was not only the calf and leg that were swollen but her ankle was swollen too.
Is there any way you can be over medicated with the enbrel and celebrex? For the fatigue I use vitamin B complex. This really helps me. Good luck and dont give up!
Heat is wonderful and so can aspercream or that capsicam cream too for some relief. Control the arthritis and you control the pain level. Celebrex, methotrexate, enbrel, humira..... many NSAIDS just to mention a few RA drugs out there. Prednisone does seem like the miriacle cure for a while, I know, been there done that, but can cause the endrocan (sp) system to not function normally since it starts to depend on the steroids, prednisone, instead.

I did have a prescription for methotrexate and diclofeniac along with the Celebrex, we tried all three but found the Celebrex worked better so I stuck with that. I have some diclofeniac left and maybe I'll give the cream idea a try. Anything has got to be better than living like this everyday.

I am hoping to conceive again and have stopped all other meds...I was also taking methotrexate and celebrex for my condition but I absolutely can not function without the prednisone. Would pain pills be a better option for pregnancy? I am excited about some day having another little one but am very confused with all the information and different doctors opinions. I also have RA and I'm on my 2nd round of tx. I take Humira, Methotrexate and Celebrex. I was also told that if I have a major flare that they would have to pull me off treatment. I'm on most RA (Embrel, Methotrexate, Celebrex, sulfasalazine, plaquanil, Nexium, calcium and folate, pardon the speling). My foot and hand pain is lighter but not completely absent. I still try to walk 5 days a week and am not overweight (5'5'' and 123 lbs). Recently, I added cronic back, chest, left shoulder and jaw pain, blurred vision. I have a negative stress test and my gall bladder was removed. I have just begun a prednisone burst but it really is just making me restless.
She has mixed connective tissue disease, raynaud's, asthma, fatigue along with joint pain, morphea on her arms and truck, and has slowly progressed with having difficulty swallowing food and sometimes liquids. The last comment I can say is that I still workout any muscles I can depending on what is hurting, mostly abs and select cable/swissball exercises. Also I have taken methotrexate and Humira on time for the past year.
I have been put on Plaquenil (anti-malaria), Methotrexate (chemo) in smalllllll doses, and celebrex. I will be getting off the celebrex in Feb and starting Humira due to the joint heat that isn't getting much better. My fingers sometimes feel crushed. I have been steiroid dependent asthmatic since l988, I have been on Methotrexate 7 yrs, it has gotten me off cortisone other than the need for sinus infection/asthma during the winter months.
