I started taking Celebrex two months ago and have gained 18 lbs since. I am wondering if anyone has gained weight on Celebrex? I have a sprained lumbar, lumbago syndrome with back spasms. I can't take narcotic pain meds. Any alternative to Celebrex? Naproxen does nothing for my pain.
My PCP precsribed Zyrtec for me to take daily but it is not for food allergies. Benadryl works great for me and if I only take one 25 mg tablet, I am not too sleepy. Will this be a safe alternative for me?? I have no insurance and can't afford to go back to the doctor just yet to discuss this, I called and spoke ith a nurse who said I needed another appointment to talk to the doctor. Please help!!
Naproxen is just ibuprofen, which is Motrin and Aleve. I would think Celebrex would help a lot more than Naproxen. It can't hurt to ask for it. Naproxen didn't do anything for me, except hurt my stomach. The Celebrex helped a lot, right away.
Mobic wasn't really that affective for me but my insurance made me try practically every NSAID on the market before they would approve Celebrex. They denied Celebrex and even recommended a PPI (ulcer med) to take with the NSAID's because they didn't want to pay for Celebrex. After they denied me 4 or 5 times, they finally approved it. So now I take 400mg of Celebrex a day and it's a lot more effective than any other NSAID i've been on.
This all started with my potassium being low and being hypoglycemic. The endo doctor took me off all diuretics so that i could take the renin and aldesterone tests. Does the potassium have anything to do with the thyroid and why did the endo take me off all diuretics to take the two tests. Doesn't he realise that my body would retaing the water and the result of edema? Just wondering?

So, for what it's worth, 5 HTP presents an over the counter alternative to SSRIs plus it will help you relax and sleep without causing a hangover. Food for thought, anyway. Good luck to you.
He told me to take celebrex and to call him if my stomach starts to bleed. Can gout be so aggressive like this hitting different joints in the feet and ankles constantly? I tried the cherry extract and cranberry juice in the past for months with no relief? Also, I stay away for foods that create uric acid and I don't drink alcohol anymore. Does anyone have anything similar or have any advice where to go next?
I will tell you that I did that I did not realize you were supposed to take Tamoxifen with food and my onc suggested I take it with breakfast. I was taking it at night before bedtime when I usually take my vitamins. Ooops!!!! I'm now taking it with breakfast and things are better. I'll be thrilled for you if you are like my mom who also never had a lick of side effects. I'll be jealous, too!!! Stay sane, cool, and not moody!
i would love a quick diagnosis, but after waiting 8 weeks for all my blood tests and still only a little further down the line my main concern today is pain relief, i just wish i had something stronger than ibuprofen etc, i did go to the heath food shop today and bought some green lipped mussel cream, heaven only knows if that will ease the pain, but i was desperate for some relief, if anyone can recommend some safe alternative health products or food etc that i could try to ease the pain i wou
I am on an NSAID called Limbrel 500 (I can't take Ibupropin or naproxicin due to stomach problems and can't take Celebrex as I get insominia from it), and muscle relaxant Flexeril. I'm going to an integrative pain medicine doctor. I have been to a orthopedic surgeon, neurologist, physiatrist and pain doctor and GP. All said I have myofascial pain syndrome. I am also doing biofeedback and accupuncture.
So, I go see this dr, in the hopes of a better diagnosis I don't take meds that morning, though I took a celebrex the morning before and maybe 2 hydrocodone. Of course, for the first time in 4 months I'm so close to pain free (comparatively of course), and I did tell him that. He has the report of the pelvic MRI and the results from the nerve test. Does a lot of pressing and 'does this hurt' looks at me standing and some other stuff.
Now that he has taken Celebrex for about 8 or 9 months, the asthma seems to be getting worse, appearing mainly at night, with wheezing, and a spell of coughing in the morning which usualy produces mucous, and thereafter the asthma symptoms cease for the day. He also has coughing, throat clearing, upper back pain (but rarely heartburn), and occasional coughing after meals.
) ...and read read a lot about food and its effect on your body. Don’t starve, you don’t need to and you cant it is harmful. Get a plan and stick with it, I hope you don't drink or eat low fat products, also be sure never drink any diet drink .Stop drinking coffee if you still do. With the pounds going to go down, so will your blood pressure. You have headache because your high blood pressure. I've been there. I needed to lose only about 15 pounds.
I find that doing stretches really helps and taking high quality whole food vitamins and drinkg lots of good water and of course stress reduction, I read the Bible and pray to God for help. I meditate on God's word and promises. This really takes my stress and worry and puts them in God's hands. He's the only one in control anyway and He is the only one that can restore my health. I had to realize that and my anxiety went down a lot.
I got the injection in my knee on 9/18 and, that day, started having these symptoms that have been worse every day since, a week and a half after the original hip injection. The day of my knee shot, I started having symptoms and my temples swelled up. Because my swollen temples became a freakin medical mystery to my GP, they gave me amoxacillin for a possible sinus infection. I then broke out into hives....I have never been allergic to antibiotics before!
Message me and let's talk. Maybe we can help each other. I am on Imuran, Prednisone, two heart meds, celebrex and a few other meds. I do not have the side effects you are talking about on Imuran. As a matter of fact as long as I eat a full meal before I atke it I can't think of any side effects I have at all so far. I've been on it a little over a month. Where do you have vasculitis? Skin or organs? Message me.....
The only reason I am able to make it this time is I stopped a few other meds-Previcid,Zocor and Celebrex. That makes it easier. I also have difficulty with soda or any carbonated drink. They all taste yucky and taste flat. Some foods feel odd to chew. Has anyone else had gastric problems? Will this pass or should I give it up before I further tear up my stomach? Thanks if you have any tips for me.
The Celebrex has helped a lot. Just a thought. I have used Celebrex on and off for 6 years and have no ill effects. It is way better than ibuprofen, Alleve and the like. It doesn't irritate my stomach and does not make you drowsy or anything. Obviously there is an underlying cause for your son's ailments, but immediate relief of symptoms while you are dealing with the underlying cause is a good thing. Also, Allegra gave me severe back pain. Just something else to consider. Good luck.
I was a very healthy person. The pain began in my lower back and progressed to all my joints and entire back. When my dermatologist learned of my problems, she stopped the Accutane immediately. She stated back pain was a side effect. I read all the info before taking Accutane, and it never described these symptoms in 2001. When I was 30 years old, I had back surgery and it destroyed my back.
It quickly fixed my depression/anxiety problems, and I feel okay mood-wise. Although for the first few months, the libido change (MUCH lower) and anorgasmia had been hard to deal with in the begining, but seems to be better. The only thing is that I've noticed over the last several months an effect that is rather disturbing and I don't know if it's due to lexapro? Kind of an inability to think straight sometimes, or loss of short term memory. Just an overall feeling of almost a blank mind.
When you drastically cut the calorie intake you also alter the nutrients and your body goes in survival mode and the essential organs will get the nutrients and the others (hair, skin, nails) will get the left over.
Many of us just go through it and use otc's for symptomatic relief. Stock up on food, drinks and vitamins. Read the Thomas Recipe in the health pages.
Try a very low protein, low dairy, low salt whole grain diet, avoiding the whites-white sugar, white flour, white rice and breads and pasta. spicy or acidy food can cause joint discomfort, so go easy on citrus and 'hot and spicy' foods also. Doesn't leave much does it? take a long walk everyday and a hot shower or tub before bed time. This raises the core body heat and acts as a natural sleep aid. The exercise helps mood-dopemines-and actually increases energy.
I had already been having muscle spasms all over my body, pain shooting throughout, so he decided to put me on Methocarbomal (muscle relaxor) and Celebrex (anti-inflamatory and pain reliever) and Darvocette (for pain). He said to stay away from Motrin and tylenol now that i'm taking the celebrex. These meds have done the trick 99% of the time. I still have pain, but it's liveable. I can go on each day and survive. I don't have the palpitations too bad.
ie non celiac gluten sensitivity. Basically gluten and other food intolerances lead to leaky gut and to adrenal fatigue hence the low cortisol. To better understand this read these two books. Adrenal fatigue, 21st century illness by Dr. wilson and the Gluten effect by dr. vikki peterson. The depression, body pain, and fatigue are most likely due to leaky gut and the tremendous stress on your body is leading to exhausted adrenals.
