Common Questions and Answers about Celebrex and blood clots

celebrex

This just happened again to my thumb after 10 years and my cardiologist prescribed high blood pressure meds...and I DON'T have high blood pressure, I've been running for 25 years! If anyone has a diagnosis please share...I know your frustration.
It is where antibodies are attacking things in your blood, usually the blood cells' mitochondria, which can cause blood clots and thick blood, along with the usual auto-immune symptoms.
On saturday her right leg below her knee started to swell up and yesterday it was not only the calf and leg that were swollen but her ankle was swollen too. Today we went to the doctor and he sent her to get a dopler scan to see if there were any blood clots. She got the scans and there were no blood clots found. The lady who was doing the scan said that she saw a lot of fluid coming out of her joints and asked me if my mother had arthritis, which i confirmed.
Took Ridaura and eight entrophen 10 daily for eight years, then sulfasalazine for 4 yrs. and celebrex. For past 2 months, have taken almost nothing, hoping all these weird things would disappear. No improvement whatsoever. I'm very frightened. Please......any suggestions whatsoever? I'm thinking along the lines of Lupus, MS (but no "heaviness" feelings!), diabetes, acoustic neuroma (however at last testing 2 yrs. ago, no hearing loss) ...... ?????
It was very very severe and I had swelling also.Seen a rheumatology and arthritis doctor. He prescribed celebrex and flexirol. But the pains continued. They were severe pains which made me worry and panic, was getting up at nights. One more month passed in severe pain and worry. Seen other internal medicine doctors for second opinion. Not much help. All the pains are continuing on and off without any diagnosis. Recently started Yoga. Numbness in the left arm and left leg .
I'm an active, well educated, hard working 30 year old female. I work 50+ hours a week and I workout at the gym a few times a week. My husband and I have a great life together. I have taken a very limited amount of medication over my 12 years of struggling in pain. This is probably not what you pictured when you heard that I have Fibromyalgia. We are stereo typed into a group of whining women (and some men), who are pill seekers, who need to toughen up and deal with life.
The ER did an ultra sound, EKG, took 11 vials of blood and gave me 2 vicodin. I then was sent by my family dr, he sent me to get an EMG. That dr saw issues w/ my central & peripheral nerves. He sent me for an cerival MRI. When it came back he said I had c5-6 hernaited disc, he gave me spot injections & steroid pack & sent me to his partner. She set me up for 3 epidural injections. Then she thought I might have TOS,so another MRI, which didn't show TOS.
At the time he had just started taking Celebrex for another problem. And he had a cold and had taken a nightime cold medication. Would either meds. effect the coumadin? He is now taking 6mg and will again have this checked soon. Are there many medications that would effect this blood thinner? What types would they be?
However, excessive swelling of the foot and lower leg can be due to thrombosis (blood clots) in the veins in the leg. You should notice if the swelling is associated with painor tenderness. The complications of hip replacement include thromboembolic disease or blood clots in the veins of the legs, dislocation of the total hip arthroplasty, bleeding, infection, loosening of the implants, wear of the components, osteolysis, and neurovascular injury. You should follow up the doctor regularly.
I began to feed mom a teaspoon of mashed potatoes when blood came spewing from her nose and mouth, black blood thick with clots that looked like garden slugs with bright red blood on them, this continued on and off for almost 24 hours. I was able to remove most of the blood using about a ½ bottle of Shout and Tide in the laundry, some loads I did twice.
They took it off the market due to findings of increased risk of heart attack, stroke and blood clots in patients that took it for more than a year. My mother took it also and neither of us had any side effects from it just stopped because of the recall. Have you tried physical therapy? It might help to be evaluated and then go for a few sessions and see if it helps. If it is muscle they can help you with range of motion excersizes (sp?
We just finished a round of veinous tests, i.e. ultrasound and blood pressure of the legs and again, they are fine. For some reason, I keep coming back to something in the muscle. Maybe a lactic acid build up or something similar. My daughter is 31 and has always been on the go. Constantly on her feet, working etc. This has brought her to a stop to where she can hardly function. Her problem started a little over a year ago while we were on vacation in Las Vegas.
Also, they warn you about these, but in 2 to 4% of ovca patients, SE include stroke, heart attack, blood clots and bowel perforations. They should tell you to be very careful about these. Good luck if you're able to get this drug and let us know if you have other questions.
If there is pressure at the anus, sitting on the toilet to long, pushing, constipated, this tissue fills with blood stretches and sometimes creates blood clots. very painful. Walking moves the blood back into the system, swimming, lots of water, Metamucil w/ lots of water,,,,, It can take a while for this to resolve itself and if you are noticing blood you should be careful of blood clots, you will know because you will have grape size sacks hanging down that really hurt and do not go away.
Nobody's ever had problems with it before. Vioxx and Celebrex inhibit Cox 2. Ibuprofen is non-specific and inhibits Cox 1 mostly and slightly Cox 2. Cox 2 is where the risk comes in. I'm still going to take it. Pretty soon they're going to tell us that aspirin is dangerous. Ha Ha!!!
Last fall I had CT scans of sinuses and chest and they were okay. I also check my urine occasionally for blood and protein and it is okay. I have had thyroid checked and it was okay, though slightly high on T3. A CBC was okay except for a slightly elevated liver enzyme. My doctor, last fall, ran an ANCA test and it was okay. My drs see no reason to pursue the possibility of Limited WG. I am not sure they are familiar with "Limited" WG though.
A few days into the therapy she began vomitting, and a few days later she was vomitting blood clots. Oops they overmedicated her and ulcerated her stomach. She was treated with zantac and sent on her way. While trying to continue to treat her for the residual ear pain a doctor put her on celebrex, and you guessed it reactivated the ulcers. Since that time we have been on a rollercoaster ride of treatment. She had a whole regimen of blood work done.
Thanks for the words. I went back to rhemy and she said we could try celebrex and a muscle relaxer. Tried the muscle relaxer last night I only noticed a very slight diffrence but if I keep taking it maybe. I have not tried the celebrex yet. My flashing started about an hour ago and I think I will do my xanax because my stress level is very high. I don't think you are supposed to take xanax and a muscle relaxer togeter. The pharmcist said not really.

As a result I my urethra was partially ruptured in two places leading to gross hematuria (blood clots in my urine). Two hours later I went to the ER and they did urine test and did not see any blood in my urine. But for the next four days after every erection i passed as much as an ounce of blood clots. My urologist said that the erection pulls the wound open. He said no sex for a month and gave me Valium to prevent morning erections.
My knee replacement is giving me bad problems. Blood clots and a newly torn ligiment. I went to my doctor today for the clot and he told me he has to go back in and repair the ligiment. The bleeding is causing clots under my knee cap. I'm so scarred. I'm less than 30 days of no oxies. We scheduled surg for next week. I am scared out of my mind when it comes to post surgery pain management. I told the doctor my problem with the pills and he said moss not the time to detox.
He did not explain anything to me. I went home and researched it myself. It could get to the point that blood clots form, or I could loose my legs. He offered me nothing as to how I could prevent this, no exercises, diet ot anything. Today, I recieved a report from my regular doctor. It said that there are normal arterial waveforms and doppler evaluation present throughout both lower extremeties except for the anterior tibial artery bilaterally, which shoes monophasic blood flow.
Given a stress test and received a clean bill of health. Diagnosed with High blood pressure and placed on medication. Sent to Physical therapy and given viox. Didn't help. Tried ice and heat and received semi relief. Visited ER several times, cardiac enzymes negative. Heart cath Aug of 00 negative. Still having severe chest pain. MRI of the Brachial Plexus showed swelling over the subclavian artery. CT's of the chest were negative as well as chest X-Rays. Given Percocet for pain.
Hi Tramadol Warriors! Welcome to Part 53. This thread is full of helpful and kind people who want to help you get off this terrible drug. Please snuggle in and make yourself comfy. I know you can do it!
Platelets are clusters of proteins that act like bricks to form blood clots. They are produced by cells in the bone marrow. Platelet counts often drop if you are on interferon and ribavirin therapy. This can put you at a higher risk for bleeding. * If you have a low platelet count, you should pay particular attention to bleeding. Nosebleeds and bruises are more common. If you are concerned that you are bleeding or can't stop bleeding from a cut, seek medical attention.
I have seen countless people complain of stomach problems from using the nsaid of their choice. One thing, vioxx and celebrex are supposed to be better on the stomach.
I was scratching til I drew blood sometimes. I've worked in heating and air conditioning for about 28 years so I put a VERY GOOD humidifier on my furnace but it didn't help until I remembered to open the contol damper I installed for it (duh, only took 4 weeks to realise this) It has really helped a lot. What still itches is in my ears and down south in the rear to be polite.
and would go to bed at 9 or 10. I knew I could be in for another health crisis as I am prone to blood clots. I wore my thrombolitic stockings and most importantly, this doctor knew that and when calling his office for help, I specifically told them that I was no longer able to walk at all, was sleeping all day and the the doctor knew that wasn't good for me.
I had a very deep bruise (I think a busted blood vessel) from when I ran into my car door. It healed over a few days and then the exact pattern of the bruise turned into a raised red very itchy rash. I've had an issue with small rashes over the last year which I think might be thrush related and I wondered if a pH change at the bruise site cause the rash or if it is autoimmune like you suggested. Good to know we're not alone!
They did an angiogram and found everything was ok - and have suggested my heart and blood vessels are fine... I've given up on complaining anymore - they say I'm okay, but the pains are there. I'm exercising 45 mins/day and ignoring the pain as no one seems to think it's serious. But I know that they're not phantom pains! I am completely exhausted after exercise every day - feel like I hit the wall, and my legs "shake from the inside".
