I originally went to the doctor with overall feeling of malaise, headache, fever, slight sore throat and abdominal pain. I was tested for strep and mono. Strep came back positive (Strep C) and negative for mono. I was prescribed amoxicillin and was feeling much better on day 3 until I developed a horrible yeast infection. I was then prescribed the one dose of fluconazole and the yeast infection was cleared. My original symptoms were gone so I didn't bother taking the rest of the antibiotic.
I am just going to take this and hope it goes away. I have a Pap smear in two weeks that should cover all STDs but HIV I think. I am going to wait about a month and then plan a trip to my local health department to get tested. My best advice is go to the county health department and get tested, at least you will have peace of mind. I am going in about 30 days. A tip I learned in college if you are embarrassed go to the neighboring county's health department.
Your doctor may have an explanation to account for your symptoms but, if not he/she may have to empirically prescribe another drug, one not in the category of bactrim and Cefdinir. You may have had the original strep throat and then your lymph nodes swelled and that is hat you feel? That with some residual pain from the sore throat? I don't know how bad your throat feels.

Well I ha e sinus infections just about all my life and now it seems as though I have picked up another germ. It's strep throat I have had it for 5months I went to see eat nose and throat doctor every time I went I tested positive for it help me I've been on several different antibodies and it helplessly for a moment then it's back again what shall I do help please than you.

And strep is notoriously resistant. They now use higher doses of things and antibiotics have additive agents to help them stay potent in killing the bacteria. So, if you took the full course and are still sick, follow back up with your doctor for the next step. Knock this out hopefully soon!
I know strep and allergies are definitely two different things, but it could be that if he has an allergy issue, his nasal passages and throat get irritated from that and then an infection occurs - the strep throat. This past winter I, myself, got strep throat twice and pneumonia once - the first bout of strep actually landed me in the hospital for 4 days.
2nd dr I went to tested me and I tested positive for yeast she gave me Nystatin for 10 days and patches are still there. 3rd dr after looking at my throat said I did not have oral thrush I have tried to scrape these patches off but they are adhered firmly to my mouth. The week before I had oral sex I had been to the dentist and was feeling bad so took amoxicillin then got to filling better and quit taking it. Also I started using a mouth wash which I have never used before.
If you had strep throat or another type of strep you wouldn't have sneezing and runny nose. Some viruses start with a sore throat then change into the other symptoms. Hopefully they will go away soon. If not or if they get worse see your doctor.
As far as the concerns go regarding strep throat....Consider your drinking water a source. We were on well water and were informed that the constant strep throat infection my kids had could be coming from the water they were drinking. Strep can be passed through water. Ever since we have been on bottled water we have been in the clear.

Did the doctor do a throat culture for strep? A quick swab to the back of the throat for a rapid strep test could give you the answer to your discomfort. Whatever is causing your discomfort, it does not sound like it is going to go away on its own. You are going to need the treatment of a doctor.

as i said it is an antibiotic so would kill bacteria to some degree but if you tested negative at 6 weeks you dont have it
It's highly likely you're going to get strep throat. The incubation period for streptococci is 2-5 days so you should be feeling something around now.
Thanks for your response Jjewelz. After conventional medicine has so far failed me I went to see a DO who practices Integrative (or Functional) Medicine. She wants me to go dairy and gluten free to rule it out. I was hesitant but seeing I'm not getting any better worth trying it if only to eliminate it. I see her in a week.
Thanks for the tips! It seems to have turned into just a really nasty cold at this point. The horrible "swallowing knives" throat seems to have gone away and been replaced by congestion, runny nose, headache, and all the other classic cold symptoms. I've never had a cold start out with such a horrible sore throat before!
