Avatar f tn -- Biaxin (clartihromycin) and Omnicef (cefdinir) for Lyme. However, I have seen references in various places online to Flagyl being used against babesia. If you search "babesiosis flagyl" you'll find what I did. Take care!
Avatar f tn clarithromycin) and Omnicef (gen: cefdinir), and then switched to Zithromax (gen: azithromycin) and Flagyl (gen: metronidazole). As I recall, the switch in meds was because I was having a bad reaction to treatment, but it may have been that the doc didn't realize my problem was the probiotic I was taking and not the antibiotics. I don't know. So ..
Avatar f tn Thank you, Jackie. My Lyme doctor thinks it will take me longer to recover than others. I didn't realize what a big deal it was until I read Dr. Burrasco's report that the steroids could stay in your system for up to 6 months and cause a disaster for someone with Lyme. I think I'll mention it to my Lyme doctor at my next appointment. I guess I thought that the steroids would be out of my system earlier than that. I was hoping someone else had taken steroids and gotten better.
Avatar f tn as i said it is an antibiotic so would kill bacteria to some degree but if you tested negative at 6 weeks you dont have it
Avatar m tn ve had full blood work including testing for Mono, Lyme, Parvo, Thyroid, urine culture, blood culture, sugar, electrolytes, kidney/liver functions all normal/negative. I did have Strep Group G and Group C though symptomatic (apparently that means no big deal to the doctors) and was treated with 2 rounds of antibiotics (Augmentin; Cefdinir) I've gone on a low sugar, no caffeine, no dairy diet and taking a daily, d3, garlic supplement and probiotic.
Avatar f tn I think those were for babesia, which is related to malaria. Then got treated for Lyme. (Had a hard drive failure recently and lost some computer records ... so still in the dark on some things.) Also, treatment practice changes over time as more things are discovered, so I don't know what the state of the art is anymore. My LLMD wasn't that interested in vitamins and supplements, so I did some reading on various Lyme websites and created my own menu of vitamins and supplements.
Avatar n tn I've been fighting a battle of diarrhea for the past four days with no end in sight. Yesterday I went to the hospital because I began to experience sever dehydration. I was also worried because three weeks prior to experiencing this diarrhea I had laparoscopic surgery to repair a very large hiadial hernia. Last night at the ER they could see no reason for my symptom. The only symptom being sever diarrhea.
Avatar f tn Your doctor may have an explanation to account for your symptoms but, if not he/she may have to empirically prescribe another drug, one not in the category of bactrim and Cefdinir. It would also be reasonable for you to ask your doctor to contact the pharmaceutical manufacturers of these drugs to find out if reactions such as yours have been reported.
1265027 tn?1284839951 it may take a while for the reaction to go away. as long as it's getting better don't worry too much about it.
Avatar m tn Thank you for responding to my question. It has been 12 days since I had root canal on #14. Took Cipro for 7 days. I'm still feeling lpain/discomfort on #14 and try not to chew on that side of mouth. How long does it for root canal to heal? Can and do root canal fail? What are symptoms of failed root canal. At the time of root canal Endodonist put temporary filled on crown. I have appoint with regular dentist for permanent filling in a week.
Avatar f tn Hi everybody, Saw my LLMD yesterday, and the news is (knock on wood) encouraging. The babesiosis seems to be gone, now it's a mopping up operation on the Lyme. The problems I was having on flagyl seems to have been simple gastro irritation, but it was quite effective on the Lyme: the brain fog is largely GONE. Does anyone have experience with Ketek (generic: telithromycin)?
362692 tn?1248639193 I had two tests for Lyme one in 11/07 and the result for Lyme Western Blot was = 0.67 (Negative results) and the other in 05/08 the result was = 0.15 (Negative results). You mention something about Band-23. The report my dr. sent me only the above information. Do you know what those numbers mean? I have many symptoms, but my doctors won't give me antibiotics until they find out what is causing the symptoms. The worse thing is that my two kids are getting the same symptoms more often.
1917408 tn?1421952040 Hi! I'm glad to hear you're feeling positive and moving forward. You went on a hike? Wow, I'm still dreaming of being able to do that again... That student with a hangover feeling happens to me A LOT! I find the biggest help is drinking lots of pure water, I usually manage 8 pints a day (that's what my lyme doc told me to aim for) and on days I don't maange it, I always feel it the next day.
Avatar f tn was just diagnosed last wednesday with the flu, and then yesterday 5 days later was diagnosed with a sinus and ear infection. for the last couple of days i have had really bad vertigo wether I am standing or sitting, feels kinda like I am drunk all day long, and really spiking my anxiety. I was put on cefdinir but have not even been on it a full 24 hours yet. I was wondering two things.
Avatar f tn I took an antibiotic called cefdinir for about a week and I think augmentin for like a day?
1917408 tn?1421952040 Every one of my 4 dogs tests positive for Lyme disease. I myself tested Serum positive for Lyme disease about 6 years ago, but when they did the Western Blot they said--not Lyme--and I have no idea what that "meant." And it was so long ago that the record of the test is long gone--other than a note saying "not Lyme." But, I don't have "arthritis" and like I said, I never had a "rash.
Avatar f tn Have you been tested for Lyme and related diseases? Long Island is a hot spot for Lyme+. It seems someone can have Lyme and other tick-borne illness but also have other ailments as you mention, and it all gets jumbled up together making diagnosis more complex. On top of it, many drs don't take Lyme seriously and use tests that are less accurate than more recently developed ones, yet defend the use of the old tests.
