Common Questions and Answers about Causes of swollen knee symptoms

swollen

00 I looked at my left knee and is it all swollen above the knee cap and on the right side and it hurts to move it.(it's my left knee). I have done nothing to injure myself. Is this just symptoms of anemia or could it be something completely different..
Hi Carla, You have a nice name and you are pretty young too. Your symptoms of pain with dramatic history of knee swelling and redness suggests either it is ligament tear or meniscus injury. Further more your symptom of feeling locked at joints adds to the diagnosis of meniscus injury as locking and catching are characteristic of meniscus injuries. I think it is indeed meniscus injury of your knee causing the symptoms. Have you consulted any doctor? Is yes, what does he have to say for this?
was wondering what would cause this. my groin was a little swollen, but has gone away, but now my left knee and right armpit feel swollen. also, my elbow hurts a little bit.......thanks.
Also at this point a repeat X ray of both the knees and an orthopedic evaluation is warranted. There can be many causes of knee pain like arthritis, bursitis, meniscal injury, and tendinitis and nerve compression. I will urge you to get her orthopedic evaluation done at your earliest.
These patients would usually report a deceleration injury or twisting the knee that led to immediate symptoms of swelling and pain. Further your symptoms of pain while kneeling down and release of symptom when you are standing or lying suggests that it might be Patello-femoral disorders. I think you should be doing X-rays, including AP, lateral, and sunrise views of your knee joint.
I had torn my quad tendon about 6 years ago and it seems to have the same symptoms except its hard in the areas of pain instead of feeling nothing there, it is also very sensitive to normal touch, plus i can bear weight on it, but is very sore to do
-I have been stressed to the max about my symptoms during all this and I'm not sure if some of my anxiety created some symptoms. Got some of the STD tests back today: -Syphilis was Negative -Noted mucus strands in urine -IgM was negative (I've read this is a useless test) -Still waiting on other tests to come back. Questions: 1.) Do these symptoms sound like herpes? 2.) How long after the initial burning would bumps, sores, or lesions appear? 3.) Can anxiety cause anything I'm describing? 3.
When I returned home and started takeing my other medication both legs swelled badly from knee down and are still swollen. Could added combination of medication from hospital cause legs to swell so much? Which medication may be the culpret?
The symptom of yours that stands out to me is the symmetry of your hand problems. Also Osteoarthritis is usually more prevalent in the last joint at the finger tip but I certainly am not a Dr. It is also not usually symmetrical. Take care and let us know.
All tests were normal and a diagnosis of post concussion syndrome was made. After several months of symptoms and pain I returned to work in February 2010. Several of my symptoms have improved and I have noted some new ones. I rarely have nausea and no vomiting anymore. The rest of his symptoms continue to be present at varying degrees of severity. About three weeks ago I realized I had a near complete loss of taste and smell. This occurred so gradually I didn't notice it happening.
I was NWB for six weeks, but at six weeks my doctor told me to ditch my crutches. I did, and I walked out of the office. My knee had a few aches and pains, but never swelling. My trainer has been really trying to focus on strengthening that leg and knee again. This past Thursday I squatted, no weight, but went deeper than I should have. I felt something sharp in my knee, and it was painful. Since then my knee has been acting up. It's warm, but not swollen.
Notquiteright's symptoms, knee swelling should NOT make you think someone has Lyme disease - yes, it's all the rage these days, but it's still not THAT common; he'd be much more likely to have septic arthritis from gonorrhea than Lyme disease! Seriously, a much more common cause of a single swollen joint (along with his new intolerance to alcohol) is good old gout.
I have also had to quit running because of the pain. The pain is in the upper left side of my left knee. I cannot bend my knee more than 90' degrees and am also unable to completely straighten it. It hurts whenever I put weight on it, but especially when I ever try to bend down to do anything. I cannot walk up or down stairs with my left leg first because the pain is that severe.
I agree that there are multiple causes of knee and back pain. I will offer what I have learned about knee and back pain. Degenerative diseases like Degenerative Disc Disease of the back and Degenerative Joint Disease can lead to arthritis. Arthritis is an inflamation and degeneration is a tearing down so to speak of parts of a joint, When the lining of the knee joint becomes inflamed it is sinovitis and this can become an arthritic joint..
It is obviously a tissue swelling that causes this, but what is causing the tissue to swell? Is it a form of Bursitis, perhaps, or are there other issues that have these common symptoms. It stays for a few day/weeks then subsides, then returns. Should I take her in for an MRI or try some at home remedies/recovery habits to curb it?
Few complications are notes like Swelling ( Swelling usually be there for 6-9months), Infection (this would be apparent in immediate recovery period), Nerve Damage (if the nerves are damaged, this will leave numbness and tingling below the knee). There are small percentage of chances where in you might have recurrence of symptoms. I think you should consult your physiotherapist, pain medicine specialist, orthopaedician and physician to discuss regarding further course of action.
Do you experience any grinding, locking, catching, or giving way of the knee? Are there any positions that make your knee more or less comfortable? What is the quality of your pain (sharp, shooting, dull, etc.)? Have you tried anything to help the pain and, if yes, has that been successful? Have you ever had surgery on your knee? Do you have any hip or ankle pain?
sharp burning pain on the outside of the knee when I kneel. It goes away when I stand. Some tenderness remains. Otherwise the knee is quite useful. I'm 43, in good shape, and although a little muscular, I have a delicate bone/joint build. I recently increased significantly the amount of weight I was doing on a squat rack. I typically do squats with strict form, but lower my hips below my knees.

A few wks ago while I had a cold symptom, I found the swelling in my thyroid area (Right side only). No special symptoms except the swelling. One night, with fever and pain in upper soft area of the back of inside of the mouth, I found more swellings in the same area. I took a cold medicine with antiinflammatory. Next morning the swelling looked much better. Later, I found a little rigid area in thyroid area, right in the neck bone area. I saw ENT doctor.
I have had one slightly swollen lymph node on the right side of my groin for a month now and I'm wondering what the causes could be. When it first appeared it was very tender and painful and then after a week or so i didn't notice it (it may have even reduced) then about a week and a half ago it started to ache while walking but not as painful as before. I also notice that its quite firm (not really hard) and about a centimeter in diameter.
I have a constant burning sensation and soreness around my right knee particularly where the thigh muscle joins the leg. There is also a constant soreness on the bottom edge of my knee, just above the tibia. It has been like this for over a week following a run and has not improved significantly in that time. It is somewhat uncomfortable, but not painful to bend my leg. If is painful to flex my leg muscle, which I notice more when extending my leg. The pain level is bearable.
Our local doctors have been giving him steroids but he is only three years old and now he has new rashes and one of his testicals are swollen and he complains of leg pain. Its just awful for a child to go through all this. I actually had my sister take him to another doctor and thats why he is finally being referred to a specialist. I though you had to treat what caused the HSP. They are only giving him steroids for joint and abdominal pain. Now he has a swollen red mark on his thigh.
Has he seen the swollen knee ? This looks like a case of post-operative complications. I am not sure how I can help you with this. May be, you could write a letter to the doctor explaining your pains. And wait for his response.
Hello, Your symptoms are suggestive of peripheral neuropathy or a peripheral vascular disease.I feel that your neurologist is right as all your symptoms are typical of peripheral neuropathy. Peripheral neuropathy is the term for damage to nerves of the peripheral nervous system, which may be caused either by diseases of the nerve or from the side-effects of systemic illness.Diabetes,SLE,vit B12 deficiency and charcot marie tooth disease are important causes.
b2) And I shouldn't have any hope of both our tests being false positives? What I'm still so confused about are his signs/symptoms!! That "papercut" on his foreskin near tip and "pimple" on shaft showed up 3-4 days after exposure. After using Neosporin on it, then only did he start getting small blisters (about 2 showed up next to eachother, and 1 was a little furthur away..and i think over the next 2 days 1 more showed up each day around the others).
I had the scope because of osteoarthritis of the knee with severe osteoarthritis of the patellofemoral joint and was hoping the surgery would buy me a few more years to work. This was a big mistake because I am in more pain now than before the surgery.
Last year I started getting bakers cysts in my left knee - I have lost track of how many have swollen, burst and the drained into my calf. Very, very painful. And now this. Absolutely awesome though to find so many people with the same kind of pain.
With the exception of the hip / groin pain, my symptoms feel eerily similar to the prodromal ones I felt when I first began exhibiting symptoms of HSV-1 (approx. 3 years ago), and haven't felt for over a year, at least. I guess what I'm wondering is: what are the chances I've contracted HSV-2 from this woman, given my current symptoms, the fact I used a condom, and the fact I already have HSV-1.
I can relate to almost all of these symptoms. I have had swollen tongue, swollen lips and fingers, welts all over the body. One thing that I am sure about is that the lips and hands could be related to taking aspirin. I used to take an adult dosage and had severe reactions. Then I was determined to be able to take one baby aspirin. But if I have to get off the aspirin for surgery, then it comes back when I resume.
