Avatar n tn I am at my wits end with this, my symptoms are, the front upper teeth and gums are sore, palate close to the teeth is sore at times, even my tongue feels sore sometime. I have worn a night guard for several years, the dental hygenist suggested stress is causing this? Thanks in advance for your answer.
Avatar f tn In november I started having this feeling like my tongue was burning also like something was pinching me inside my tongue it also felt as if tiny pieces of rocks were in my tongue but it was only the left side of my tongue the right side felt find I went back to the ENT the doctor prescribe (Pantoprazole) the doctor said maybe I was having some type of reflux problem but like the other medications I was still in pain and back at the beginning.
Avatar n tn For about 3 months I've had a slightly white tongue, like a white/pale yellow coating. It's mainly towards the back of my tongue and it's not painful. It hasn't gotten worse at all, but hasn't really gotten that much better either. I've been to the doctor 2 times and the dentist once for other conditions and they've routinely checked my mouth and didn't say anything or act concerned, so it might only be really noticeable to me.
Avatar m tn Symptoms - depending on the muscle and the location of the trigger points - are a painful burning tongue (glossodynia), dry mouth, sores on the tongue, difficulty talking, a sore throat with no inflammation, pain on swallowing and the feeling that there is a something/lump stuck in the throat, and pain in the lower back teeth. Your voice may be hoarse. All these muscles function to open your mouth.
Avatar m tn It has even caused me to lose sleep and I often do not have any appetite. Also, the front and side of my tongue feels almost like it is burning or numb - that's not really the right words, but it's hard to describe. I have been seeing my neuro for over 6 years - dx'ed with rrms a little over a year ago - no meds.
Avatar n tn ive only noticed it for about 2 or 3 months now but before that i never really looked at my tongue. I did go through a period of about 4 months of very bad stress and anxiety(which is done now).
577132 tn?1314266526 Glossitis is inflammation or infection of the tongue. It causes the tongue to swell and change color. Finger-like projections on the surface of the tongue (papillae) may be lost, causing the tongue to appear smooth. Tongue color changes (usually dark "beefy" red). Some Causes: Poor hydration and low saliva in the mouth may allow bacteria to grow more readily. Disorders such as iron deficiency anemia, pernicious anemia and other B-vitamin deficiencies.
Avatar n tn It could be geographic tongue. There are a number of variants of the condition, and the symptoms you describe are very common amongst sufferers. Start looking at your diet: if you think you are taking essential vitamins, either through supplements or your food, are you still ABSORBING them? The tongue is an accurate indicator that our bodies are lacking something they need. http://www.geographic-tongue-remedy.

Avatar m tn I have sore tongue for 2 months, tongue looks normal (no white or red patches). Parts of the tongue feels asif you just burnt your tongue drinking not coffee. Months also feels dry. I have seen doctors & Dentists and they have no answer . all the blood tests are normal.
Avatar m tn My concern is , is it Normal to have a white coated at the back of our tongue? I didn’t have any symptoms like fever , rash , sore throat , etc aside from canker sore that I get often.. Is this related to any STI or STD?
Avatar f tn What causes a cronic sore tongue which looks like something has cut it along the tip and front sides? This discussion is related to cracked sides of my tongue.
Avatar n tn Three Days ago I began feeling small bumps on the floor of my mouth. The are barely visible but they are white. It feels like the floor of my mouth is rough like sand. Two days ago, my tonsils began to become swollen with white patches on them. My throat does not burn, I do not have a fever, just uncomfortable to swallow because of the swollen tonsils. The white on my tonsils can be scraped off and is only on the tonsil. What could this be?
Avatar n tn Hi, last night I began having a strange type of pain under my tongue on the right side at the base of the mouth - the pain feels similar to a sore throat, but my throat isn't sore. I don't have a fever or swollen lymph glands. Also the pain hasn't gotten worse. I can only feel the pain if I move the tongue up or if I swallow a large amount of food. My throat doesn't have any swelling or redness or whiteness, my voice is still the same, ears are fine and gums are fine.
Avatar f tn It was painful and a little sore. When I felt my tongue, I noticed there was a lump inside of my tongue that is painful to press on. The lump is not visible, but can be felt if I grab the top and bottom of my tongue. It is located on the right side of my tongue near the tip of my tongue. I went and seen my doctor today and she diagnosed it as a thyroglossal cyst. In doing more research, those cyst do not typically appear at the front of her tongue.

Avatar n tn This occasionally happens to me. Though a doctor has never told me this, I've always assumed it's like a cold sore blister on the roof of my mouth. First there is a blister, then it is just tender skin for a few days. If it's not a cold sore on the roof the mouth, I imagine it's a type of canker sore.
Avatar m tn They start and take about 10-15 days to heal and typically occur in same areas, back of tongue and tip of tongue. My tongue also feels hot and burns. My dr said she was pretty sure it was herpes virus that caused my cold sore, so i guess spread to the tongue. I did a swab and it came back normal but my dr said thats bc the sores had been there for several days and the swab would need to be done in the first 48hrs. Problem is, in the first two days theres nothing really there.
Avatar f tn s possible you are experiencing an allergic reaction as allergy is a common cause, the other common causes of blisters on the tongue are trauma and viral......you could see your GP but tongue blisters are not generally a sign of something serious. Hope that helps.....
Avatar m tn About a week later, I developed a sore on the tip of my tongue and along the edges of the tongue. The area was just red and very painful. It was very painful and lasted several weeks. Being in a long term relationship, I panicked and was tested for Chlamydia, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, HSV1 &2, Pallidum HCV and HIV, everything came back negative except the HSV1 however I have had cold sores since I was young and so assume I would be immune to receiving that again.
Avatar f tn Hello, I noticed a strange sore on top of my tongue last Monday, which scared me. I ended up seeing a ENT on Wednesday. She stated that it was Geographical tongue, but it has gotten larger since. She prescribed me Clotrimazole lozenges and Triamcinolone paste, which the paste is disgusting. This is really scaring me. I am still worried that it might be something else, i.e. cancer. Any opinions appreciated.
