She had similar situations like this in the past but not as bad as today. Could this be a symptom of dementia or Alzheimer's? Many thanks.

Avatar m tn If all brain related causes (transient ischemic attack, disorders of hypothalamus, dementia and multiple sclerosis, head injury etc) are ruled out then Vit B12 deficiency, chronic fatigue syndrome, sleep disorders (by sleep studies), depression, use of certain drugs, and certain types of seizures (where memory loss is the predominant symptom) should be investigated for as the cause of memory loss.
Avatar n tn About an hour later he suffered a brief episode (1-2 min) of short term memory loss. He could not remember the weekend holiday or do sums. Other than feeling cold he did not exhibit any physical symptoms. He had another episode about three weeks later. A neurologist examined him and found nothing but set up an EEG. He has had no other episodes. Any suggestions as to what to ask during/after the EEG or what the potential cause might be? Thank you.

787406 tn?1339203183 I also started having memory problems and stuttering trying to find words two weeks before the EEG was done, which also started after the finger thing feeling in the hair and brain and the loss of focus. these last 10 to 15 minutes. The ones with blind spots are usually only there 1 to 3 minutes. I have been to 2 neurologist and they can't seem to come to a decision. First one did a EEG and said I had a focal over left and right temporal lobe with the left being the worst, MRI was normal.

If he has refractory epilepsy, he could talk to his doctor about a possible surgical workup, see if he is a candidate for surgery....there are different procedures for different seizure types, locations of seizures, etc. etc.

I am currently doing HR and it demands that you have a good memory. I can remember numbers, but not the same when it comes to paragraphs. I am overweight but I was like this since my childhood. I also recently was diagnosed with acanthosis nigricans, which is a skin diesease. Please help me find out a cure to my memory problem urgently.

Avatar n tn I have never heard of any antidepressants being associated with memory loss, but everyone reacts differently to these meds so I suppose anything is possible. Are you sure this memory loss is not due to another medical condition you may not know about? If it makes you feel any better, I used to take Effexor XR at 300Mgs a day for 4 years and did not have any lasting memory problems. I can say that now that I am 40 I have noticed that I have a little trouble remembering many things.

The first, borderline Chiari malformation with ectopy of 3.5-4 mm, which I am not very concerned about. However, I am concerned that several tiny areas of nonspecific hemispheric white matter high signal with was stated to likely be resultant from microvascular ischemia. What do you think the potential causes might be in a relatively healthy 39 year old?
