Avatar f tn what causes toe curling cramps? I can also feel the pulling down my leg.
Avatar n tn The toe cramps are an uncommon presentation of diabetes, particularly very high glucose levels over 400. The recurrent nature is consistant with such an etiology. They can also be caused by calcium deficiency, and resolved by drinking an extra glass of milk a day. I would agree that you should get a diabetic evaluation. Taken alone, this is not a hallmark of diabetes, but your analysis of the problem is reasonable.
Avatar f tn Causes for me are usually overexertion during the day (for me it happens mostly at night), improper stretching and dehydration. But there is a long list of what causes it. It is usually just one foot for me at a time. Sometimes it goes up further in the foot and calf. Wonder if that is what you are talking about? Good idea to ask that, Barb!

335728 tn?1331414412 I've been getting foot cramps - had 'em before I was diagnosed, actually. I thought it was a little odd. Now I know! I get a couple of different kinds. My foot will cramp up at the bottom, and it feels like my toes are curling in toward the ball of my foot. That happens after exercise. I also get a big toe cramp where it sticks up and won't go back down - that happens at night, while I'm asleep. Wakeup call!
203342 tn?1328737207 I've been having cramps in my foot off and on for awhile. Last night I had a bad cramp in my calf. Usually this is at night, but not always. Like right now I have a cramp in my foot. Last night I had such a bad cramp in my leg I had to hop out of bed and hobble around for quite awhile before it finally went away. Could this be a sign of dehydration? What else could it be?

Avatar f tn Both you gals may be dealing with pelvic floor dysfunction where the muscles guard because of the pain and get locked in contraction which causes MUCH pain and dysfunction...so you might consider seeing a physical therapist who specializes in pelvic pain...the nerves and muscles get into this spin of pain signals the nerves to contract the muscles and eventually the nerves become rogue and the muscles forget how to relax so they will do internal trigger point therapy...
