jaw-pain

Avatar f tn Yes I have the jaw tightness when I.chew and lately have also been having esophageal spasms when I eat and drink at times. Don't know if its related to my ms or not though.
Avatar f tn I had 6 composite fillings done earlier this year and all of them hurt even weeks after getting them done especially when chewing food(soft or hard). The pain was too much and i couldn't chew so my dentist removed the fillings and put in temporary ones. As soon as the temporary fillings were put in there was no pain at all. Two days ago i went back to have 3 of the temporary fillings replaced with composite again and the pain when chewing has come back. Whats going on with these fillings?
Avatar m tn You could have something known as TMJ and that causes jaw pain. TemperoMandibularJoint disease can be brought on by repetitive movement of the lower jaw, which can cause lots of pain. You could also have a blocked salivary gland known as siladentits, which causes jaw pain. I would recommend seeing an MD if you have not done so already. Both of the issues I mentioned can be treated with medicine. IF it's siladenitis, it will require an antibiotic to treat.
Avatar f tn Hi there. This just started? In all honesty, I think this is important to get checked out. There is a variety of things that can case lower jaw pain. First, you need to make sure your teeth are okay! Yes, on both sides. You have to rule out something going on with that. Then TMJ comes to mind. And even your heart can be involved with lower jaw pain. Here is an article to read. But the one that would concern me to immediately rule out is a cardiovascular reason.

Avatar m tn My 80 year old mother has started this almost constant "chewing" type jaw movements. Does this have anything to do with Parkinson's? She was at a neurologist today for pain in both of her hands and diagnosed with severe carpal tunnel and he noticed a constant twitching in her left thumb. He did some other neurological testing and said she might have the beginnings of Parkinson's. i didn't think to tell him of this jaw movement.
Avatar n tn I also have alot of pain and tightness in the jaws in the mornings and it takes a while for me to be able to fully open my mouth. There is pain with chewing, yawning, talking and side movements of my jaw. I have also been getting alot of pretty bad headaches, I wake up in the middle of the night at times due to headaches and usually always have one when I awaken in the mornings.
Avatar n tn My mouth will not open and close evenly and when I lay down my jaw locks up and I can’t open my mouth. When I’m up it always pops on the right side opening and closing my mouth while talking and chewing. I would like to know why it does this and what is causing this and if it can be treated. I am in pain everyday with this problem and it is very frustrating. It started a few years ago and it is getting worse. Please help!! Thanks!!
Avatar n tn For the past 3 weeks, I have had pain when chewing or biting down in my right ear and in that part of my jaw just below the temple. My dentist and orthodontist have said my jaw is disaligned in the past (I look normal though), but I have never had pain. My back molars do not touch when I bite, and my front teeth bite right together with no overbite at all. However, the pain has just now come and seems worse when I sleep on my face funny. Sometimes it is so bad that it is difficult to eat.
Avatar f tn I can bear the pain so I go to sleep hoping it will just disapear. When I woke up I feel pain at the back of my head not in the brain. It feels like electric shocks. After 3 days (tuesday) the whole day I was worried about my head because my veins in my head is painful like headache. If I press it it feel pain and the pain travel to other veins conected to that vein. Now I'm afraid to touch my head. I think i experience those because of the pulsing vein.

Avatar n tn everytime I open my mouth to eat, yawn, whatever, my jaw pops. I mostly feel it on my right side. Esp when I yawn, it feels like it gets stuck when I go to close it, and it always makes this huge popping sound and it hurts. Any idea what this is or what causes it? And do I need to see someone for this? Any help would be great. Thanks!!
977806 tn?1249067346 Took 2nd shot this past Wednesday. Have actually had jaw pain off and on but really thought it was a dental problem but am thinking more along the lines of Sx now because it is in both jaws. I emailed my doctor earlier today. Has anyone else had jaw pain. Both jaws have been effected and right now it is throbbing a bit. I emailed to ask my doctor if I should go and see a dentist anyway even though it may be due to the drugs.
Avatar n tn Hold on, opening that jaw causes the pain in the back of my head to be right next to my right ear.... Could that be TMJD?
Avatar f tn it always hurts.. its a throbbing pain.
Avatar f tn Hi and welcome, It definitely doesn't sound suggestive/consistent with TN, i'm highly doubtful of TMJ too because your description is basically the opposite of what typically happens ie "feels better when I’m chewing" chewing typically makes it worse, "I have no actual pain" typically it's very intense lightning strike pain etc If you've had the health of your teeth and gums assessed and your dentist is suggesting the possibility of it being caused by cle
Avatar m tn My jaw has been popping occasionally while eating and always when chewing gum. I did a search on jaw popping and found that MS is sometimes misdiagnosed as TMJ. Is this possibly another symptom? And should I seek assistance from my neuro or dentist? Is important to have it looked at immediately? (I ask that because I have a neuro appt in a month.) Thanks for any help or advice.
Avatar f tn My problem is that there is pain, not throbbing or acute, on the side of the jaw when I open my mouth up wide. The most disturbing part is the stiffness and total lack of mobility of the lower jaw when I try to move it to one side or stick it out as if creating an underbite. It just stops. I mean it will not budge beyond a certain point. I can move it perfectly normal to one side but not the other. This morning when I first woke up, I was laying on my non surgical side.

Avatar n tn It feels like I am chewing on aluminum fool. I also have pain in my jaw that feels burning. I have had an MVD that failed because my doctor said I have trigeminal neuralgia. Which now I am not so sure I have. Can you recommend anything that I should do now?
Avatar f tn I HAVE MS, AND I HAVE PROBLEMS EVERY DAY, CHEWING, AND MY JAW LOCKING, I CANT OPEN MY MOUTH TO TAKE A BITE OF FOOD WITHOUT FIRST TRYING TO UNLOCK THE JAW FIRST, AND IT CRACLES WHEN I CHEW, IT ALL COMES WITH MILD PAIN. I DO HAVE TWITCHES, AND PAIN IN MY FACE A LOT, AND I WAS HOSPITALIZED 3 YEARS AGO WITH WHAT THEY THOUGHT WAS A STROKE TO MY FACE, BUT COME TO FIND OUT IT WAS MY MS. IS THIS NORMAL? I CANT AFFORD TO GO TO THE DOCTOR, I DONT HAVE ANY HEALTH INS.
Avatar f tn s been getting progressively worse, notably since August I can't open my mouth properly anymore and no I haven't been diagnosed officially by a doctor, last time I went with two complaints, jaw and heart so she told me my heart one was more serious and ignored my jaw. My osteopath told me I had tmj back in December and has been providing temporary relief (an evening free of jaw pain) but I'm wondering what else can I do?
Avatar m tn Its generally pain that is activated by the use of the temporalis muscle. You remark that you have pain when chewing but not when closing necessarily. The temporalis muscle is used for that and would result in pain. Also, if you want, you can have your dentist feel the muscle to see if it will trigger pain. As for your cracked tooth, its possible the crack is quite deep and extensive and cause some damage to the pulp of the tooth, resulting in pain.
Avatar n tn You have symptoms of temporomandibular joint dysfunction - TMJ dysfunction. Symptoms can include pain in the chewing muscles or jaw joint; limited movement or locking of the jaw; clicking, popping, or grating sounds when opening your mouth; trouble chewing to name a few. TMJ dysfunction can be caused by conditions including injury, a bad bite, stress, anxiety, hypothyroidism, magnesium deficiency.
