Avatar m tn Did you not read what I wrote, "Do not use accutane (a medicine prescribed for severe acne that has been associated with causing UC)." Accutane has been known to cause UC. The medical community is only now starting to realize the role that bacteria plays in this disease. And yes, an imbalance of fecal bacteria in the colon can cause UC. I took antibiotics for some 20+ years for skin inflammations.
Avatar n tn Until recently, however, this relation was based on observational studies and the effects of smoking were thought to be synergistic with hypertension, diabetes mellitus, glucose intolerance, age, hypercholesterolaemia, and pre-existing cardiovascular disease. Now we have definite evidence that smoking itself has a direct causal effect on stroke. Cigarette smoking is thus a definite independent risk factor for stroke, particularly ischaemic stroke.
Avatar f tn I just want a little clarification. I've had the Nexplanon implant for about...3 months now. I've done my research and read all of the side effects. I haven't had a menstrual cycle since the implant, I have also taken a pregnancy test and came out negative. I know this is mentioned on a lot of side effect lists but I just want to make sure there's nothing I should rush to a doctor to get checked out.
Avatar f tn Another thing is if you have been trying to get pregnant then you need to go ahead and quit because smoking before getting pregnant causes problems with the development of your placenta and the fetus. It doesn't just hurt to smoke during pregnancy. It's so very hard to quit and people who have never smoked have no understanding. It is my opinion to stay away from Chantix. Cutting down before quitting would be better.
Avatar f tn t a very heavy smoker though, two cigarettes a day if that). It causes a lot of issues for the baby. It effects their lungs and brain development, can cause miscarriage, pre term labor, a breech baby, and the list goes on. it's important to try to quit!! I have faith in you, for your baby!
723959 tn?1314744225 I had panic attacks during smoking weed back in my day. That's kind of when they started. I didnt know I was having panic during... I thought it was just a bad high... and it was. But! My Dr. said even if I NEVER smoked weed.. it was probably just a matter of time before I got a panic attack, regardless. Smoking prob. just helped induce it.
Avatar m tn Smoking 20 cigarettes a day and consuming 4 pints of beer nightly, may increase his risk of esophageal cancer. Quitting smoking and restricting alcohol intake to light or moderate amounts may reduce this risk. Craving salty foods may have to do with already consuming too many salty foods. It has an addictive type of effect. But more likely, it is may be linked to the diuretic effects of beer consumption, as I mentioned earlier. Hope this helps. Cheers!
Avatar m tn Research the side effects of propecia. They include erectile dysfunction. And in some men, the side effects continue even after you've stopped taking it.
Avatar f tn I've been taking zoloft for the past 5 years and had had no negative effects up until about a year ago when I started smoking marijuana. I started smoking marijuana in september last year about a month after i had increased my Zoloft dosage to 125 mg. Since that September I have been a regular marijuana user due to its positive effects. I've been suffering from tremors after I smoke since about December.
Avatar f tn Great post.I agree smoking does cause back pain, Smoking increases the risk of getting affected from low back pain with sciatica. Of late researchers have confirmed that smoking causes back pain. Smoking doubles the risk of suffering from severe back pain, according to statistics presented at a conference on back pain in Haifa, Israel (2000).

Avatar n tn ve smoked since the age of 16 and been diabetic since 27 as some one mentioned earlier the only bad of smoking and being diabetic IS THE MUNCHIES and not having the suitable foods to go with this condition i find that nuts and mountain dew {diet of course} work really well for me or veggie mix and an lite dip.
Avatar n tn hey this is a super old thread but just incase someone is out there looking for answers, I'll add my 2 cents. I've been diabetic for 20 years now. I'm 28. I've been a regular pot user for probably 10 years. I firmly believe that used (not excessively) for diabetics, that pot can help a vast number diabetic complications and symptoms. This has been backed up recently by research on weed and diabetes.
Avatar n tn I am not overweight, but do have some cardio risk factors, i.e smoking, high blood presure and high cholesteral, also a family history (father) of heart disease. Should I continue the Herceptin? Have frequent MUGA tests? See a cardiologist? Thank you for any guidance you can provide.
Avatar f tn If you are using it for nausea, you may have hyperemesis gravidarum, a condition that causes excessive nausea and vomiting during early stages of pregnancy. There are other medications that are proven safer during pregnancy that are effective for nausea that your OB can prescribe for you. If your OB is aware of your issue they will be happy to address it. You want to eat right and stay away from all unneeded drugs and alcohol while you are pregnant and nursing or mothering young children.
Avatar n tn , filtered cigarettes with unfiltered joints, to claim the marijuana smoke—that is, the unfiltered smoke---is more dangerous, a well known result from comparing filtered and unfiltered cigarettes; it deals with the method of smoking and does not compare tobacco and marijuana); --It enhances the guesses of harm from marijuana smoking by an unrelated factor, concurrent cigarette smoking (whereas controlling for separate variables is essential if science is to obtain meaningful scientific results

Avatar f tn I agree with Sammy it isn't as easy as it seems and it's way easier said than done. My cousin smoked the whole time she was pregnant, she had cut back tremendously but she just couldn't fully quit and her baby is just as healthy and happy as a non smokers baby.
Avatar m tn Lots of things can elevate homocysteine -- vitamin deficiencies (specifically folate, vitamin B6, and vitamin B12), cigarette smoking. It may be worthwhile to take a multivitamin and stop smoking (if applicable) to correct for either of these two causes, although the evidence isn't clear as to whether increasing homocysteine levels changes your risk.
Avatar f tn I used to smoke weed everyday, multiple times a day. When I fohndoht I was pregnant I stopped smoking. And only did it once after that because people were tempting me, it freaked me out with all the things going on. I just decided it wasn't good for mW or my baby and was honestly a waste of money. I haven't smoked since like the 20th of August and now I can sit around people(doesn't happen often!!
Avatar m tn I have liver cirrhosis and when I became ill, my doctor prescribed Marinol for weight gain. I had lost 85 lbs and gained 30 pounds with this treatment. My doctor discontinued the Marinol and my weight decreased. I am 6'2" tall and am considering smoking marijuana to achieve the weight gain I am comfortable with. Will this method injure my liver further or have no real effects to it?

Avatar m tn I would suggest not smoking cannibus (weed). If it isn't helping you, why smoke it? Please don't get me wrong, I am a firm believer in the medicinal value of weed, but if you aren't able to tolerate the effects, then stay away from it, please. You also may have smoked weed that was sprayed with a pesticide. You are so young...unless you have chronic pain or cancer, don't smoke weed. Its obviously not helping you. And...yes...I am a mother of 2 young adults in their 20's.
