Cat sneezing after vaccinations

Common Questions and Answers about Cat sneezing after vaccinations

sneeze

Avatar n tn m just curious..Are the cats current vaccinations up to date? Because generally if they are your cat (unless it is allergies) shouldn't have any respiratory infection. Nevertheless if your kitty does have a kitty cold that includes heavy sneezing, drippy nose and eyes this will most likely clear up on it's own, generally within 1-2 weeks. As long as kitty is eating, dinking and pottying (urinating) then there isn't really any concerns.
Avatar f tn my cat is 11 yrs old. I love him. but he continues to sneeze and cough - hard to know the difference. My mother is a doctor and gave me an an antibiotics for him. But after 3 days I see no improvement. And also his eyes are ver dirty. Please any help?
1608004 tn?1390770990 Have to say I am so happy she feels this way too. I am not a proponent of continuing vaccinations after the initial round. Mia never sees another cat and vaccinations would just put her at risk for injection site complications. She is perfectly fine and I have had her for 5 years. Of course she came to me with a host of health problems, but I knew she needed extensive medical care and I am at the vets all the time. She blinks and I am there . I am your typical HypoCATriact.
Avatar f tn opus88: Yes, after the initial kitten series and then a booster at 1 year, the AAFP recommends vaccinations for panleukopenia and rabies once every 3 years. Here is a link to the pdf file showing their 2006 recommendations: catvets.com/uploads/PDF/FINALVaccineTable12.15.pdf Of course, you will want to follow your local city or state laws regarding rabies vaccines. Most of gone to three year schedules, but a few still require annual rabies for all pets.
Avatar m tn Hello, I have a cat who has sense the day we rescued him been sneezing and at points discharging, for a lack of better words, snot balls on the walls. We have taken him to the vet and have received a medication that did not work after completing the full bottle. I don't recall the name of this medicine. My question is, are there any over-the-counter medications that we can give this poor cat so we don't have to pay 50$ over and over again to visit the Vet.
Avatar m tn When my friend adopted her cat from a shelter she was told that this cat had been treated for URI and was no longer contagious even though she continued to have trouble breathing (making noises). Then my friend adopted another cat and this second cat did not get sick although there was a time when he would not eat for a few days. Then my friend and her cats moved in with me about 2 years ago and 6 of my 7 cats got sick with URI.
Avatar f tn Now my cat is sneezing less...but still sneezing now and again so I am not sure what to think. She seems normal otherwise (hard to tell if she is having extra cat naps since she is a cat who snoozes). Maybe it was the cleaning products? If it is an infection, what would be the chances only she would have it and not my other cat? They both hang out together and both are indoor cats.....
Avatar n tn my cat has been sneezing continously for a week and now his eye has started watering, his nose sounds runny. He doesnt go outside. Is there something i can do to help him or do i need to go to the vet and what do you think it is?
Avatar m tn We took her home in a crate (recently used by my other cat and my dog sometimes slept in there) and when we were in the car she started sneezing and one of her eyes was a little bit watery. Now that shes home she continues to sneeze often and her eye is still watery. Could something in my house be irritating her? Could she be allergic to something? Or did i adopt a sick kitten? What should i do? Thank You.
Avatar m tn Prescribed Clindamycin for a whole month. His only symptoms after a day or two back on was increased sneezing (or reverse sneezing and some snorting) He was doing incredibly well after 1/1/2 weeks on antibiotic again, but we started having problems getting it into him. Called the vet on Friday Aug 18 and her assistant suggested holding the antibiotic over the weekend. Called on Monday and couldn't talk to vet until Tuesday afternoon. She suggested giving antibiotic only every other day.
Avatar m tn i am 19 years old and on March 9 2013, i was not exactly scratched but i steped backwards and a cat was on the floor and the cat nails came into contact with my back toe. the incident to place at a temple near my house. there was no bleeding or visible mark but i washed by feet and i came home and told my dad and he did not think i need rabies shots. also some time back i gave the cat milk since it gave birth to kittens.
Avatar f tn I do,I am 4 week pregnant and we have a cat and I am so allergic with her these days and sneezing like hundred times a day.
Avatar f tn Alternatively, are you sure the sneezing is just related to the dinner, or when he is in the car? There may be an allergen in the car. Another more obscure idea is that somehow this has become some sort of conditioned response from him. He expects it to happen, so it does. I remeber once I got nauseus from a horrible lunch before inside a library. For years after I couldn't enter any public library without feeling sick. I'm fine now.
Avatar f tn Hello, My cat is 15 years old and he has been sneezing all day! At first I thought it was cute the first time because he woke me up sneezing twice. Then, later on the day he sneezed like almost 100 times. He has heart worms and my parents gave him the medicine yesterday. But I think he may be sick or have a virus! Help me please!?
Avatar f tn You should never give medicine prescribed for a human to a cat. It is very dangerous to the cat to do this. How many days has your kitty been sneezing ? I don't know where you read on the internet that you can give a cat amoxicilian . You can't believe everything you read on line. You said you have no choice. Ah, but you do. You say you don't have money to take her to a vet. There are some vets that will let you pay a little at a time.
Avatar f tn It all depends on what kind of stuff you're breathing in. Ask your doctor about if it's safe to continue or not. They are concerned about stuff like lead also cat litter boxes.
Avatar m tn Oh! If you recently adopted her from the ASPCA then it could be kennel flu!! It's contagious to other cats I'd say. When I adopted my younger cat from the county shelter he started sneezing after 24 hours of being in the house. He then got my other cat sick as well. It's a virus so antibiotics won't do anything. It will go away on his own. What WILL help is a very, very good diet to help boost her immune system so she can fight that su cker. Good Luck at the vet's.
Avatar f tn ALSO, since she tested positive for feline leukemia, I am extremely upset that they gave her any vaccinations at all which further compromise her immune systemI was shocked about the feline leukemi because she seems healthy and is beautiful with a good appetite. After the shots she seems a little sad and is not eating s much as before. Does anyone have any experience with this?
7532341 tn?1391693986 I have a retired persian show cat. He has the very flat face. He was a rescue cat and I have had him about 3months. I also have 2 humiliations, I bought as baby's. They are 9 years old and the rescue cat is 12. The rescue cat does not meow but he makes funny noises. He slurps his food up in a hurry then he is steady sneezing non stop and blowing his nose. No discharge of any type comes out. This goes on for quite awhile. He was starved to death and on deaths door when I first got him.
1632896 tn?1299942340 my cat and i are pals and when he is happy he sneezes. is that normal for a cat to do?
Avatar f tn t know what booster your cat had, but I do know two of my four are allergic to the typical boosters/innoculations we are encoureged to give our animals. There has been a fair bit of controvery over the past few years about the necessity of yearly boosters and what I experienced first hand made me stop giving any of our wards any boosters at all.
Avatar f tn t worry too much about your cat, unless you see some physical symptoms-difficulty swallowing, coughing, or choking. If you don't see any symptoms, then your kitty is just normal. Honestly, nothing to worry about!!
