1232362 tn?1333135406 I figure if people can build up resistance to antihistamines that it would be reasonable to assume that the same thing can happen to the cat. I generally give her the Zyrtec when the allergies are bothering her the most so that I don't give her too much.

Avatar m tn Even if you do not have previous allergic reaction to the cat, the cat can still indirectly cause your allergies to flare up. Aside from possible reaction to the shampoo used by the animal, other allergen such as pollen, mold, and other allergens may be responsible and these can stick to the cat's fur.Antihistamine medication may help provide relief. If it persists, you may need to have this checked by your doctor for proper evaluation. Take care and do keep us posted.

5347058 tn?1381188426 sensitive commonly to a preservative or ingredient in dry kibble type food. grain allergies are common in cats and most cat foods are full of unnecessary grains just b/c they are 'cheap' fillers for the manufacturer, they do absolutely nothing for the diet!!! there are some 'grain free' diets on the market that may be a worth a trial. EVO, Wellness and Natures Variety are a few. cats can also suffer from environmental allergies....such as what you decide with your kitty.....
Avatar f tn Zyrtec and benadryl. Zyrtec doesn't work for me, and benadryl makes me so tired. So my Dr gave me flonase and said to take the benadryl at night.
Avatar f tn I use Benadryl (non drowsy) almost every day but when my allergies are out of control I use Zyrtec. If I have congestion, I use Sudaffed.
Avatar m tn Have you been tested for allergies? I'd recommend finding a Board-Certified Allergy Specialist in your area and have them perform a skin-test on you (they place a small amount of various substances on your skin, scratch or stick it very lightly, and then measure your reactions). If I were you, I would start taking an anti-histamine immediately, even without a diagnosis of allergies (since it's obvious you have them). In the past I have taken Zyrtec, Claritin, and Xyzal....
Avatar f tn My allergies are terrible what can I take that isn't harmful to my baby. Runny noise watery eye sneezing every five minutes I'm miserable.
Avatar m tn I'm allergic and I know it! I've been allergic ever since I was a little boy and I've learned to live with that. My problem is that during the last couple of years, I seem to get more and more sensitive to the allergens that trigger my reactions, as well as more prone to have shortness of breath as a primary reaction! This year, although spring hadn't affected me so far, I happened to catch a cold (whether it was the flu, a cold or bacterial infection I don't know!
11803947 tn?1430842645 I have really severe allergies and benadryl is not doing it for me. Today I woke up with a bloody nose. My eyes are so itchy and watery. My throat hurts a lot and etc ... I dont like taking anything while pregnant but I can't handle this anymore. Any natural remedies ?
Avatar f tn I would call your doctor. I know plain Zyrtec is fine to take, but I'm not clear on Zyrtec-D. I believe the only difference is that it has Pseudoephedrine in it, but I'm not 100% and your doctor would be the safest to ask. You should just be able to call and ask and find out over the phone.
681148 tn?1437661591 She said that what I had read online about giving oral Benadryl to cats for their allergies is correct, but my instincts to not give it to her without talking to the vet first were right on, too. She wants me to use Zyrtec for the cat right now and told me how much to give her. Since this seems like the conservative approach, I trust what the vet says, although I do think I'll hold back on giving her any oral medication 'til I see how well she does without it.
Avatar f tn I agree about the steroids. My cat's vet insists that cats process steroids differently than we do. Well, anyway, I couldn't afford to take the cat back to the vet check up that is required to get the prescription refilled. I do think my cat is better off with me just giving her 1/4 tablet of Zyrtec in a day when her allergies are bothering her the most. So, I'm not even giving it to her everyday. This is in line with what I do for myself with the antihistamine I use for myself.
Avatar f tn I have allergies, dust, hay fever, cat hair ect.... not life or death type allergies, but sneezing, itchy nose and eyes, headaches. I take a one a day antihistamine to deal with it. .. but it says on the box not to take if pregnant. Im only 7 weeks, and have stopped taking them... but my allergies are horrible at the moment. All the sneezing is not helping with my morning sickness. During my last pregancey my symptoms actually went away but not this time...
Avatar f tn My allergies are driving me crazy. Is there anything my doctor can suggest to help with them?
Avatar f tn What can I take for my allergies they acting up real bad ! I know u can't take stuff while u pregnant but what can I take ??
531835 tn?1215615037 I am also not getting rid of my cat. Other than Zyrtec, are there allergy shots covered by insurance that I could take, or other allergy medications that are prescription? My insurance company stopped covering Allegra, which was perfect (bummer). Thanks for your help in advance.
5685937 tn?1412621180 Yes I have extremely bad allergies and my doctor gave me the okay on benadryl
