Did they prescibe an antifugal ear drop? Clotrimazole is good for really subborn yeast. Sounds like it can be all secondary to allergies though. Food allergies usually rear their ugly heads in pups under 1 year. You might try a food elimination diet. try a limited protein like natures recipe vegetarian or venison. This is the hard part no treat or anything but the food for at least 10 weeks to see if really helps.
My cat has been sneezing and having nasal discharge for a month now. She has no other symptoms. She plays,she eats well. Just sneezes and has nasal drainage. Her eyes are good. No swollen or runny eyes. Is this allergies? I noticed she usually only sneezes when her nose touches objects or she sniffs. Sometimes mucous comes out with the sneeze.
How do y'all deal with cat allergies?!?!? I've just recently become super allergic to my best friends cat's and I wanna be able to go see her without her cats killing me!!! (or me wanting to kill myself for that matter!) It's really bad, and my eyes, ears, throat, nose and basically whole body have really become anti-cats lately :( What should I do?!?!?! Allergies aren't hereditary but they can come and go. Some people outgrow allergies and others get them when they are older. My little brother had a lot of allergies when he was a kid (including pet dander) and outgrew them, while I didn't have them as a child but became more prone to them as an adult.

excessive licking can also be caused by allergies...usually to something in the environment. what kind of litter do you use? be sure its a scent free type.
what do you use to clean your floors with? most cleaners are full of chemicals, try just vinegar.
do you use household scents such as candles, room freshners, scented dryer sheets, perfumes, cigarrette smoke in the house?....
I was told with my first they don't develop allergies until the age of 1 or 2 yrs. I can't remember which. It's been 5 yrs ago lol. Having a cat will actually help build up their immune system.
I agree w/ Connie......The odor is yeast/fungus....Also, make sure his food is a high quality grain free...Yeast feeds on sugar...All the unnecessary grains/carbs in low quality pet food turns to sugar in the system & feeds the yeast.......Make sure you get the anti-fungal shampoo through your Vet (At least the first time!).....Then you will know what to purchase from now on........Let us know how he's doing....Karla

I noticed my cat had gunk in his ears so I tried cleaning it out with ear solution and cotton balls, he immediately started shaking his head. The next day I go to pet him and his ear is inflated! So this is my problem....My cat has a ear hematoma, I took him to the vet and they found there was yeast in his ears. For the hematoma they gave me the options of lancing, surgery, etc. but told me it was okay to leave it. They gave me drops to put in his ears for the yeast infection.

My cat was just dx'd with herpes in her eyes. For years, we too, thought it was allergies, but no. According to my vet, herpes is very common in cats. The way I figured out what was possibly going on with my cat was to google "feline herpes conjunctivitis." Some sites will give you pictures to look at and compare as well as descriptions.
Discharge from the eyes have many possible dx's, but a simple blood test will confirm whether your kitty has herpes or not.

and he had also gotten ear mites from a new cat we had just adopted. She performed surgery on the ear, and my cat "Dillon" didn't do very well; and the ear was all swollen again within about 6 days. I took him back to the vet, and she did another type of surgery on the same ear; needless to say Dillon did worse with this surgery; was sick to his stomach and mopy for about a week and half and wouldn't let me near him, let alone the ear.
t know why that is impacting his life, but it sounds like the cat has anxiety. Usually if the cat has food allergies, they will scratch around their neck, top of their head and possibly around their face. It could also be allergies from something else, such as fleas, flea bites or dust. This is harder to determine and may have to be discovered by a vet. If they feel that is the reason, they can give the cat a shot that will temporarily relieve the itching for about a month.
