cat allergies with babies

ve always had cats right along with the babies and never had a problem with allergies. IMO allergies have an increased chance of developing when a baby has never been exposed to animals....since their bodies have never had the opportunity to develop antibodies. You may need to have a mother son talk with Abby tho about sleeping with you, this will really be hard for Abby to understand for awhile...

Ya that is not good. Notice how your cat lays by your head if you don't teach him not to go in the crib and keeps going in it when baby is here he is probably going to sleep by the babies head and since cats don't have a sense if boundaries if they get too close to the baby they can suffocate the baby.

We've had our cat for about 6 months, she's never been outside. We live in a 1 bedroom apt. which means she sleeps in the living room. Our son is about to be born soon, and though we've kept telling ourselves today is the day we kick Toffee out, we just don't have the heart to do it. We've heard cat hair is bad for babies, and thats why we need to get rid of Toffee. Is cat hair really bad, or can Toffee stay? I have no idea what to do with her anymore!

I've developed severe allergies since moving in with my girlfriend who has a cat and a dog. So severe that I am constantly sick whenever home, find myself waking up in the middle of the night gasping for air (asthma - I have an inhaler), and hacking up a lung in the mornings. We've tried vacuuming more and bathing the animals but it being a small town home, living in close quarters, it does not seem to help. Now we are looking at me moving out and starting allergy shots.

He is already learning to be gentle and at 8 months old knows not to pull on their tails or be rough with them. It is also proven that pregnant women and babies have less chance developing allergies if they are in contact with cats.

How do y'all deal with cat allergies?!?!? I've just recently become super allergic to my best friends cat's and I wanna be able to go see her without her cats killing me!!! (or me wanting to kill myself for that matter!) It's really bad, and my eyes, ears, throat, nose and basically whole body have really become anti-cats lately :( What should I do?!?!?! so animals and me go together My dad grew up with a cat allergy he couldnt be in a house where cats lived...he would get itchy, cough and sneeze but he grew out of it, because we now have four and they don't bother him...the last two years or so whenever i am near the cats i get the same symptoms my eyes water, cough, stuffy nose its like a sudden cold. Is it possible that i have received the same allergy my dad had? are allergics hereditary?

Your baby will be fine, its just the litter box you shouldnt go near, or soil in the garden where they gould have gone, recent studies have shown that babies bought up his houses with animals have less allergies

Cats are known to lay bear or on top of babies because of the body heat they produce. Cats love heat, its not thete fault but there have been cases of suffocation because of it. My cats are too fat to jump that high....(they cant even get on my bed half the time and just claw there way up) but its good to kerp baby room a "no pet" zone. Kepping the door closed at all times or maybe try spraying ur cat with water everytime it sets foot in the nursery.

i have so many symptoms of allergies and my entire head is filled with fluid, i can feel it. i hope all this makes sense, as i cannot possible explain everything i am feeling..but sick of air noise in my right ear, and when i move my head it feels like glands swollen and like someone is pulling at the inside of my ears...left ear usually bothers me more then right, although right ear is the ear with air noise, and sometimes it sounds like a watch ticking or keys hitting together..make sense???

I take Zyrtec 10 mg tablet daily im allergic to my cat/ seasonal allergies etc.

I was told with my first they don't develop allergies until the age of 1 or 2 yrs. I can't remember which. It's been 5 yrs ago lol. Having a cat will actually help build up their immune system.

A cat that was injured before or hurt in any way often pull there hair out. Pain causes them to pull out the hair in places where there in pain or either itching from healing.

I'm not sure what your cat is like but I know that cats can become very jealous of New babies and cause them harm or even death in retaliation. I think you should watch that cat around the baby or get rid of it.

Today in revisiting and playing with a couple of cats I developed allergies. When I went home I played with my cat and the allergies returned. What could have caused this and should I adopt a new cat if I somehow now have cat allergies?

oh your poor kitty....however it is so amazing how well these little critters adjust, soon he'll be racing around like he was born on 3 legs :) I too really hate those halo's and YES there is a great alternative, I will give you the link to amazon who carry them but so do many good pet supply stores if you have one in your area. these are SOFT cones so they bend and flex with kitty and don't interfere with eating/drinking/stairs etc...

Could not even stay with a cat in the room. I went to an alllergy specialist (in Turkey) and he prepared me a vaccination. It was not sold in the pharmacies, it was something he prepared). I did the vaccination for 4 years and my allergy is more bearable now. If I am in a cat environment I take my allergy pill and I am OK.. maybe you should change your doctor and take second opinion??

Okay so I live with Animal Dander allergies. When I am around common animals that have dander such as dogs, cats, bunnies or hamsters, I begin to develop a slight rash and my eyes swollen and I have an asthma attack. Well, I was around a cat the other day. I was holding it and petting it and stroking it. My left eye slightly swollen and my upper arm had 2 bumbs...I had no asthma. I am usually worse around dogs...but are my allergies starting to get better?

Cat feces CAN (not all do) contain toxoplasmosis which is why you shouldn't change or touch cat poop. If you have had cats before you'be probably been exposed to it before but pregnant women are more susceptible to toxoplasmosis. As long as you dont change litter or pick up poop, you'll be fine.
