Avatar f tn The rabies vaccine for pets is highly effective. Your cat almost certainly does not have rabies. No need to fear rabies from your cat, even if you get bitten.
Avatar f tn I want to move back to Europe and bring my 19 year old cat. He's my best friend and I need him with me. But they require the rabies vaccine . He had the vaccines when he was younger but I havnt given it to him for years now. He's so delicate.
Avatar n tn My cat has been sneezing and having nasal discharge for a month now. She has no other symptoms. She plays, she eats well. Just sneezes and has nasal drainage. Her eyes are good. No swollen or runny eyes. Is this allergies? I noticed she usually only sneezes when her nose touches objects or she sniffs. Sometimes mucous comes out with the sneeze.

Avatar f tn I did not have an antirabies vaccine back then. The cat is still fine now. No signs and symptoms of rabies. Is it possible that I may still develop it after few more months? :( P.S. I was bitten by our neighbor's dog last Monday and I am currently on antirabies vaccine regimen.
Avatar f tn Oh, I just noticed that this is your cat. Has your cat never gotten a rabies vaccine? How is the cat behaving, do you think the cat is rabid?
Avatar m tn It is my understanding that the URI (herpes and calicivirus) vaccine does not completely prevent the cat from getting the virus but it usually greatly reduces the severity of the symptoms. These two viruses are very contagious stable viruses that are very widespread among cat. Most cats are exposed when they are young and have developed some immunity to them. I believe keeping your cat vaccinated helps to keep their immune system primed to respond if they are exposed to the virus again.

663774 tn?1297225152 t have to have the MMR given again --- this is a great option for pets, too, but as you say it may cost more for the labwork than the vaccine itself RTR111, Your new cat is really cute -- I commented on her photo http://www.medhelp.org/user_photos/show/100681?
Avatar f tn Allergies aren't hereditary but they can come and go. Some people outgrow allergies and others get them when they are older. My little brother had a lot of allergies when he was a kid (including pet dander) and outgrew them, while I didn't have them as a child but became more prone to them as an adult.
Avatar n tn The only laboratory in the United States who performs Rabies titers is Kansas State University and it can be more expensive than the vaccine, but since your cat is so sensitive it may be your best option.

Avatar f tn over the next couple weeks i started getting vertigo whenever it felt like my ear was starting to open it would last 2 hours to 10 hours, not getting any answers from my doctor, i went to the emergency rm.
Avatar m tn Well, I wouldn't freak out. I've vaccinated all my cats on a regular basis for years, including the leukemia vaccine in its early forms to now, and have not seen a problem; certainly nothing like the loss of a leg. Also, you don't know for sure what the vet did, so try to stay calm, he might have done everything correctly.
Avatar f tn I was told with my first they don't develop allergies until the age of 1 or 2 yrs. I can't remember which. It's been 5 yrs ago lol. Having a cat will actually help build up their immune system.
Avatar m tn 4. Other Insects and Arachnids – Just like they often do in humans, mosquito bites can cause severe itching in sensitive pets, and in many areas of the country, can transmit heartworms, Lyme, and other diseases, so keep a natural insect repellent handy during bug season to help your pet stay bite-free. Lice are an uncommon cause of itching in pets. Fortunately they are highly species-specific; a dog cannot get cat lice, and vice versa.
938718 tn?1323783514 The other type of flu vaccine — nasal-spray flu vaccine (sometimes called LAIV for “live attenuated influenza vaccine)—is not currently approved for use in pregnant women. This vaccine is made with live, weakened flu viruses that do not cause the flu).
Avatar n tn My 1 year old cat had a vaccine reaction to her rabies shot last year. I was told from now on to bring her in early and they will give her a benydryl shot first and wait awhile before giving her the vaccine. She got the vaccine that's supposed to last 3 years so at least we won't have to take her back in. Still, I kind of dread it so I understand how you feel.
Avatar f tn hey guys, I'm 4 weeks pregnant and the whole time I've been getting sinus allergies from mine and my partners dogs!!
Avatar f tn Hello, I was under my apartment getting something when a stray cat suddenly scratched me vigorously. I went up to my house and immediately cleaned it with soap, water and perfume. Should i get a rabies vaccine?
Avatar n tn When I went home I played with my cat and the allergies returned. What could have caused this and should I adopt a new cat if I somehow now have cat allergies?
Avatar m tn Greetings! My name is Tom and I suffer from severe non- food related allergies. Although they can be controlled, I find that my allergic reaction to dogs is so strong that drugs have little effect. The obvious solution is to take immunotherapy (allergy shots). However, when I contacted my allergist's secretary she said that they do no have one. I would like to rebut her claim, but in order to do so I need proof that this exists.
387767 tn?1345872027 I have always gotten one every year, as I tend to pick up a lot of colds/sinus infections because of my allergies. But now that I have full-blown fibro, I'm wondering if it's a good idea or if it will send me into a flare. My doctor said he doesn't think it shoudl be a problem, but they always say that. Does anyone know if a flu shot is a good or bad idea?
Avatar f tn My seasonal allergies (as well as dust mitea, etc.) are very bad. I understand that allergies are also a type of autoimmune disease in itself. Elaine Moore tends to believe that immunotherapy (allergy shots) makes Graves Disease worse, and can possibly bring on the Graves Eye Disease. She recommends that allergies be treated with the cortisone-type nose sprays and antihistimines instead, because of the nature of an autoimmune disease. I was about to start shots, but now I am reconsidering.
10030400 tn?1407339282 I was never warned by my vet of the risks. My 11 year old cat Rumi got the feline leukemia vaccine June 17, 2014. Four days later we noticed a lump at the vaccine site. By July 11, 2014, only 3 weeks later, the mass on her leg was the size of half golf ball. The vet suggested we contact the vaccine producer to see if there were other adverse reactions to that batch of vaccine.
