935339 tn?1289952951 I am suspecting allergies to SOMETHING: Food, cleaning products, toxins, plants, medication, or it could even be environmental. Has she been seen by a vet? What are you feeding her? Is she on any anti-flea treatment? Do you have plants at home? You will probably have to end up going straight to a specialist, a Dermatologist, but you’d need a referral from your vet most likely. What are the things that you've tried so far?
518117 tn?1429276273 But, she still manages to climb to get to a few of them still. I have been trying to keep her out of these plants. I use the water in the squirt bottle trick to discourage her. Usually all I have to do is point the bottle at her and she takes off running. But eventually she sneaks back to the plants. I am not one bit worried about my plants. I will get rid of my plants rather than my little Paradise. But, it is greatly concerning me why she is licking topsoil like this.
Avatar f tn One or two important words about plants, however, is be very, very careful what plants you have. Some are extremely toxic to cats, who just love to gobble them down. The only plants I have in my apartment are silk, so I don't need to worry. They may not get to the plants while I'm home, but just the minute I go out the door, you can be certain they'd be after the plants. They even eat the baby's breath and ferns that come with cut flowers.
1563533 tn?1345366296 That's an excellent idea, allmymarbles! Mimi, i have the same trouble with one of my young (7 mo old) cats. Catnip is a great diversion. Also I do now try to keep my plants up and away from his reach or the bigger plants in a room where he can't get to them. After a month or two I will re-introduce the plants, one at a time and hope the behavior has been re-directed... I think they do get better around plants as they get older.
620048 tn?1358018235 I do not believe that MS would cause your allergies to be any worse. I understand that if one has allergies they may get worse with age and in some cases go away altogether. This year in particular, seems to have shown an increase in people's allergies. You are not along. Where I am in Virginia, the seasons seem a little mixed up, with it being hot as the dickens when we aren't in that season or it's been cold when it should be warm. We even had some snow here in April.
1232362 tn?1333135406 thanks guys I am going to plant some seeds and I hope Tweety will enjoy do you think stores like petsmart sell it ?
Avatar n tn Her pee is tinted red with blood, my cat Buddy just died recently with the same problems but Tweety isn't throwing up like Buddy. What should I do? We don't have the money to take it to a vet.
1232362 tn?1333135406 I was hoping you would come along and answer - thanks FM. Don't you also give Akira a little Zyrtec?
535822 tn?1443976780 t go to a chiropractor. I got rid of all my food allergies and the inhalant allergies he tested me for. And the results are fast and permanent. Regular allergy doctors have an easy life. The patient never gets better, never gets worse, and doesn't wake you up at night.
195411 tn?1300080506 The only mistakes I made was to drop cat litter all over my bedroom floor, put to much washing powder in the washing machine and wore the clothes, breathed in mr sheen with dust trap technology as was not in a well ventilated room, touched an ivy plant in winter as it was growing over my window then broke the stem which caused the sap to go on my hands this gave me a tingling sensation on mu hand or used oven cleaner without gloves. No one if these is the cause of the problem I think.
Avatar f tn Works wonders for me, defintely have more symptoms when the cats are due to be washed. Vaccuum a lot and groom the cat regularly outside to help keep the hair down in the house. I would double check first that there is a true allergy involved, no use going through everything if you aren't allergic and it's from something else. Also look at the cat litter you are using, some have strong perfume or a lot of silica dust which is known to affect some people.
3234592 tn?1349819177 I am a woman in my early 20s, and I have recently found red itchy bumps on the back of my arms. It started in a cluster right under my right shoulder, now it is spreading down both my arm and my back. I don't have and food allergies, nor am I allergic to any insect or plants. The only things I'm allergic to are cat dander, dust, and morphine, there are no cat's at my house, there's dust but I don't think that can do this to my arm, and I haven't taken any morphine.
Avatar f tn How do y'all deal with cat allergies?!?!? I've just recently become super allergic to my best friends cat's and I wanna be able to go see her without her cats killing me!!! (or me wanting to kill myself for that matter!) It's really bad, and my eyes, ears, throat, nose and basically whole body have really become anti-cats lately :( What should I do?!?!?! Thanks for the tips and suggestions friends!
Avatar f tn I have two cats, female and male, and the male boy (approximately 1-1/2 years old) does not like to eat cat food. He will eat it only if he's starving. But he loves to eat fresh basil, rose petals, pansys, and cold boiled shrimp! The cats are strictly indoor cats and he discovered these morsels when I accidently dropped some basil, rose petals and a pansy. The shrimp comes naturally except he will not eat any cat food flavored with fish.
Avatar f tn I LOVE cats with all my heart but in allergist to them :(((((((((( whenever I'm near them I get hives! My allergies might be getting better but I'm not sure. Also I'm going to be working at a animal shelter soon were I have to be around cats and dogs. So if any1 would know if there something I could do or take besides allergy meds then can u please tell me?
Avatar f tn Allergies aren't hereditary but they can come and go. Some people outgrow allergies and others get them when they are older. My little brother had a lot of allergies when he was a kid (including pet dander) and outgrew them, while I didn't have them as a child but became more prone to them as an adult.
Avatar f tn My mum is allergic to cats, what can i do to my cat to help her with her allergies??
Avatar n tn For me, not a pretty sight, since I developed contact allergies to these plants. Calendula oil is supposed to be healing to the skin, but I didn't know that it was so closely related to marigolds, which I knew I was allergic to ever since I was a little kid. I learned the hard way that they're all too closely related. I burned my lips using calendula oil products. For most people, calendula would be a blessing for soothing skin. For me it turned into a curse.
Avatar n tn My cat has been throwing up rather frequently as of late. She's never been one to do so [except the occasional hairball. But we're talking once a year for that] It's often almost a lime green colour and has the consistency of pudding; Maybe not quite as thick but very close. Other times, it's more light green with chunks of food. She's thrown up three times today but I've no clue if it's plants that she's eating or if she's sick.
Avatar f tn MEdications can trigger Allergies too; they also made from plants of pollen. NO way to omit stuff in world; you have to knwo what triggers are; an stay from them best you can. Esecially eat low pollinated foods. MAY God help you; figure out what is going on with your health. Amen.
Avatar m tn I had a similar experience today with my cat--I brought home the leaves of an elderberry tree (to identify them) and my cat immediately tried to bite and scratch his way into my pocket to try to get at them, and started scratching me when I took them away. Google gives results for a handful of similar anecdotes but I found very little authoritative information. I thought this article was interesting, though: http://www.messybeast.com/catnip-valerian.
Avatar n tn You want to make sure that your kitty continues to eat, even if you have to force feed him after a few days, because cats who don't eat for a prolonged period of time can develop feline hepatic lipidosis, or fatty liver disease. While this is more common in overweight cats, it can affect any cat who goes for a long time without eating.
