152660 tn?1291755571 Has anyone tried Precious Cat brand Cat Attract litter or Senior kitty litter???? I ripped up the carpet she was going on. Now I have to try something to keep her from starting on the rest of the carpet.
Avatar f tn Hello, I am wondering if I am able to let my female cat and male cat outside.my female cat is jonesing to be outside and has sometimes escaped I have got her back with treats or she will come back on her on ( she goes into a neighbors yard ) my other cat the male (brother and sister) he will go outside a bit then gets scared and runs back in. Is there a way that I can leave a window open and they can go out and come in when they please...
Avatar f tn Works wonders for me, defintely have more symptoms when the cats are due to be washed. Vaccuum a lot and groom the cat regularly outside to help keep the hair down in the house. I would double check first that there is a true allergy involved, no use going through everything if you aren't allergic and it's from something else. Also look at the cat litter you are using, some have strong perfume or a lot of silica dust which is known to affect some people.
Avatar m tn I concur with everyone else here. One way to find out if food allergies is a problem, though, is to try a grain free canned food. There are other brands than what I've been using myself, but what I've been giving to Akira is a brand called Wellness, which is grain free. Cats should not eat dry kibble in the first place, because they get most of their water from their food. Remember, most cat breeds originated in desert areas of the earth.
874521 tn?1424116797 We used to use Petco's cat litter. It puts out very little dust and has no scent. Hubby told me he likes it better than any of the others. But, our small town does not have a Petco and so we had to switch to something we could get at Walmart. We use Tidy Cat's Small Spaces, but I think it might have a scent.
Avatar f tn I just had a docs appt and they told me it was OK to be round cats just don't change the litter box.
7845323 tn?1394873413 Cats won't care as long as you still love them too.
Avatar n tn Hi, Calm down and just let your cat know where the food, water and litter are. I assure you that in your cat's own time he/she will begin to feel less fear and come around. I had to take in my daughter's cat into my house with 2 dogs and a cat. Her cat stayed as far away as possible for months, and when we saw her on the stairs and we reached to try to pet her she swiped at us.
1232362 tn?1333135406 I was hoping you would come along and answer - thanks FM. Don't you also give Akira a little Zyrtec?
1036655 tn?1254617435 thank you! i will continue using litter. Do you have any recommendation on good clumping litter. i'm using the PeeWee pine pellets kind of cat litter. it's not really good since it sometimes does have some sharp edges and that it doesn't clump at all. just that it becomes pine shavings when it's wet. i've used a japanese brand cat litter before and it's really good but it's no longer produced. the cat litter look like white pellets and clumps together very well...
1006070 tn?1250399556 unfortunatly, i've been a horrible mom to miles davis. he's been through two moves already this year -- one in a car for two hours, and will be going through another one in a week in the transition of us moving out of state. i've also moved him into an apt where another cat lived -- and once he got used to that cat, my old roommate had to give her up. now, i'm staying with family until i can move into a house in a week. they've got a cat, two dogs.
Avatar f tn I have worked as a vet tech for many years and just took precautions when it came to handling dirty litter and cats. I also own two cats and am the only person to clean after them....again I just glove up and wash thoroughly. I also wipe down any surfaces that I may use that they have been on (even though they know better!!).
531835 tn?1215615037 If your boyfriend is still allergic to cats then he can go in for allergy shotsImmunotherapy gradually make a person more and more resistant to the cat allergens. This is one of the most effective treatments because it treats the cause and doesn’t just hide the symptoms. Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional doubts.Kind regards.
Avatar f tn (like fleas) can cause allergies. Not saying your cat has fleas....just saying you might want to double check :) Good Luck.
5655568 tn?1371757104 if he is on chicken try beef or venison, chicken is also a huge culprit in allergies because it is the common base of nearly ALL pet foods. I had to switch one of mine to fish for awhile, but fish isn't good to feed long term...but it may be necessary for a trial period if you can't get him to eat something other than chicken....
Avatar f tn I do have a question already and it has to do with having a cat. We got a cat about 3 weeks ago. I have heard that it is not good to have a cat when you are trying to conceive. Are there any of you out there that have a cat? Do I need to have the cat temporarily stay with my in-laws? Should I just not be in contact with the litter? I want to make sure that I do the right thing for me and the baby if I can get pregnant. Looking forward to meeting you all. Have a great day!
Avatar f tn I think you should be fine but it's probably not a good idea to prolong your time there if the ammonia from the litter is really bad.
1474611 tn?1416632958 hi this is so very common anymore....and almost ALL the time is due to food allergies, mainly grains in their food.(cheap additives). is your kitty fed dry food? these are the worst for allergies. the best possible advice I can give you is to change to a CANNED food with NO grains...kitty's don't like this very much b/c of course like us they love carbs...so its like going from french fries to broccoli, so you can't do it over night.
Avatar f tn no this sure isn't normal...usually when there is a loss of fur or 'ripping' out its always due to allergies...the allergies can be inhaled, ingested or environmental. I am assuming the food and litter has remained unchanged. that makes me think its either something in the house your kitty is reacting too....was there a product used to clean the carpets..for instance. Or fleas? flea allergy can also cause this to happen. copy the link below for more info and photos..
Avatar f tn I asked for the cat and the litter box to be left in her room to avoid any risks. I have not come in any contact with the cat at all until last night. Somehow the cat had gotten into my room and was hiding under the bed without my knowledge. After finally realizing the cat had been in the room I picked it up and put it outside of the room. Within minutes my hands and arms began to itch and little pinkish round spots had appeared. It didn't last very long, only a few hours.
1006070 tn?1250399556 ve also moved him into an apartment where another cat lived -- and once he got used to that cat, and even had a little crush on her, my roommate had to give her up. now, i'm staying with some family until i can move into a rental house in a few weeks. they've got a cat, two dogs. i've been keeping him in my room because he doesnt really like dogs, but he and the cat have met quite often, because when i move again .. owen and his mom are coming too.
Avatar f tn Yes I agree you should be informed about it but just because you have cats it doesnt mean that you need to get rid of them when your pregnant it just means that you do have to be extra careful and get someone else to do the litter if possible, use gloves in the garden, thoroughly wash any vergetables that are home grown and wash your hands after patting your cat, yes cats do walk on benches, but there are numerous germs on bench tops and dishclothes that can cause you and your baby harm as well
1492345 tn?1289255868 He doesn't seem to be scratching and licking like he used to... The Vet said that if he has an allergy the prednisone could possibly help. So, it seems, as of now, that it's helping :) The problem though now is the way he's acting... I moved the cat carrier from the laundry room, where one of the litter boxes is, to the "cat room". I'm trying to get him out of the litter box and back in the cat room...
Avatar f tn areas of importance, such as litter boxes, food and water bowls and owners laps, favorite sleeping areas, etc.
Avatar m tn Hello, what would cause a healthy, 5 year old cat to want to sleep in her litter box? That is where she sleeps and now she stinks. The past week, she rarely sleeps anywhere else. I have bedding, my bed, couches.... When I take her out, she wants to climb back in.
Avatar f tn If this was just a indoor cat then you should be fine but I would go to the vet to make sure just incase. Put the litter box downstairs or somewhere far away from you and get someone else to clean it if you can. If you have to clean it yourself then wear gloves, wear a mask and wash your hands. My sister had two cats when her twins were born and now they are 20 months healthy and happy.
Avatar f tn - the cat has to be an outdoor cat, since the toxoplasmosis protozoa lives in the soil - the cat has to actively be sick from toxoplasmosis at the time - the poop has to sit in the litter for at least three days for the protozoa in it to grow enough to transmit the illness - you would have to ingest the protozoa from the poop, i.e.
Avatar n tn I don't know what the discharge is or what it means. I had to try a few different kinds of cat foods before I found one that my cat likes that she isn't allergic to. My cat is allergic to grains.
