When I am around common animals that have dander such as dogs, cats, bunnies or hamsters, I begin to develop a slight rash and my eyes swollen and I have an asthma attack. Well, I was around a cat the other day. I was holding it and petting it and stroking it. My left eye slightly swollen and my upper arm had 2 bumbs...I had no asthma. I am usually worse around dogs...but are my allergies starting to get better?

About 2 weeks ago, my eyes started itching severely and I just assumed it was pollen allergies. Then one morning I woke up with my eyes swollen shut and red. I used a washcloth compress to get the swelling down and the eyes continued to be red and swollen and itchy and I noticed little blisters kind of like what I get when I wear cheap jewelry and get a chemical reaction from the metal. I have tried some Zatidor eyedrops-antihistime twice daily.

I am a 15 year old girl who found out last year that I was allergic to many things in my environment.
How do y'all deal with cat allergies?!?!? I've just recently become super allergic to my best friends cat's and I wanna be able to go see her without her cats killing me!!! (or me wanting to kill myself for that matter!) It's really bad, and my eyes, ears, throat, nose and basically whole body have really become anti-cats lately :( What should I do?!?!?! I know that I had allergies to 2 trees, some mold, and slight reaction to dogs when I was younger (would suffer from sinus headaches and sneezing at the most), but this is severe. On Jan. 4th I woke up one day to my face being swollen, my eyes were huge, and I couldn't breathe (short of breathe, and throat was swollen). I never before had had this severe of a reaction. The day before I was fine, and nothing change in my room that night.
The fat lip also is commonly secondarily infected with bacteria, so I would recommend a 2-3 week course of antibiotics if not already done. The three types of allergies are parasite (fleas, mites), food allergy, and pollen/dust allergies. If your cat is already on a good flea control such as Advantage or Revolution, then parasites are less likely.
my husband took me immediately to the doctor, he checked me and said i am swollen in nose and glands, he gave me meclizine and told me to take it every 8 hours....that was all!..over the next couple weeks i started getting vertigo whenever it felt like my ear was starting to open it would last 2 hours to 10 hours, not getting any answers from my doctor, i went to the emergency rm.

My cat was just dx'd with herpes in her eyes. For years, we too, thought it was allergies, but no. According to my vet, herpes is very common in cats. The way I figured out what was possibly going on with my cat was to google "feline herpes conjunctivitis." Some sites will give you pictures to look at and compare as well as descriptions.
Discharge from the eyes have many possible dx's, but a simple blood test will confirm whether your kitty has herpes or not.
Allergies aren't hereditary but they can come and go. Some people outgrow allergies and others get them when they are older. My little brother had a lot of allergies when he was a kid (including pet dander) and outgrew them, while I didn't have them as a child but became more prone to them as an adult.
Obviously I can't tell for sure. If they are swollen and itch it might be allergies. There are things other than cats to be allergic to. You can try warm compresses and an allergy eye drop like Alway or Zaditor. If it is an infection not usually a lot of itch but pus like discharge.
It is easiest to come to the correct decision when you have the most facts, so until they separate from the cat for a few days or more, no one will know if that is the problem.

It's probably nothing, I wake up with a swollen face after eating alot of salt and not drinking enough water... talk to ur doctor to double check, I think ull be fine....
I have suffered with allergies for about 15 years, mostly occasional sneezing and itchy skin when in contact with some cats. The main problem is a blocked up nose, I have had allergy testing which confirm allergies to cats, dogs and rabbits, and a mild allergy to pollen. I have also have asthma which is under control. I have used various anti-histimines and nasal steroid sprays with some success.
Red swollen itchy sometimes scaly eyes. I have never had any problems and developed this eye problem a year and a half ago. My doctors have there ideas of what it is but....they don't seem to suffer from my problem and I really don't think putting cortizone cream on my eyelids is a great idea. I was also on a diet of drinking water and not eating any sugar, salt , flour, wheat, soy, tomatoes, potatoes, pork...etc.
When I do itch them, they would swell and by the morning become crusty on my upper and lower eyelids and leaves dark stains around them. Today I got severe itchy and swollen patches under my eye and my inner eyes are really ichy, is this an allergic reaction from something i ate (even though i'm not allergic to any foods) or from my makeup, or is this some type of disease?
Before I went to bed last night my eyes were really red and when I woke up this morning my eyes were swollen on the top and bottom. What are some ways to make the swelling go down. I went to a heath center today and they gave me some Medicine and it is working but my eyes are still swollen. What are some other things that I can do to prevent the itching and make the swelling go down faster???
