935339 tn?1289952951 I am suspecting allergies to SOMETHING: Food, cleaning products, toxins, plants, medication, or it could even be environmental. Has she been seen by a vet? What are you feeding her? Is she on any anti-flea treatment? Do you have plants at home? You will probably have to end up going straight to a specialist, a Dermatologist, but you’d need a referral from your vet most likely. What are the things that you've tried so far?
518117 tn?1429276273 And I am running into little on the subject. Other than it is not normal for a cat to be doing this. I know cats can nibble at plants themselves though. But, she is showing no interest in the plants. Just the dirt the plants are in. And I really don't believe this is a behavorial problem. Paradise is a little character, but is usually a well behaved cat. I am just worried that she could be doing this due to some underlying health issue. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
Avatar f tn Our cat is a yr and 1/2, a Domestic Tabby Striped and Female spayed and front paws declawed. Has recently showing interest in plant consumption and we are growing Vita Green grass for her. She was a rescue and weighed under 2lbs, she is now 11.5 lbs and beautiful little girl :) We are wanting to know if anyone is using or has used the grass for their pet and if there will be any side effects from her eating it?
1563533 tn?1345366296 That's an excellent idea, allmymarbles! Mimi, i have the same trouble with one of my young (7 mo old) cats. Catnip is a great diversion. Also I do now try to keep my plants up and away from his reach or the bigger plants in a room where he can't get to them. After a month or two I will re-introduce the plants, one at a time and hope the behavior has been re-directed... I think they do get better around plants as they get older.
620048 tn?1358018235 I do not believe that MS would cause your allergies to be any worse. I understand that if one has allergies they may get worse with age and in some cases go away altogether. This year in particular, seems to have shown an increase in people's allergies. You are not along. Where I am in Virginia, the seasons seem a little mixed up, with it being hot as the dickens when we aren't in that season or it's been cold when it should be warm. We even had some snow here in April.
1232362 tn?1333135406 t know a lot about cats, I have one cat ,who found me a couple of years ago, but may I ask.what is cat grass? I have noticed my Tweety when she is outside nibbles around the 'grass' plants ..I do know having been a former dog person that dogs eat grass when they feel nausea , could there be something similar with cats ...
Avatar n tn My cat has been sneezing and having nasal discharge for a month now. She has no other symptoms. She plays, she eats well. Just sneezes and has nasal drainage. Her eyes are good. No swollen or runny eyes. Is this allergies? I noticed she usually only sneezes when her nose touches objects or she sniffs. Sometimes mucous comes out with the sneeze.
Avatar m tn t say for sure, most plants are safe. find a website on poisonous plants for felines, google that and see what they say. does someone else on here know?
1232362 tn?1333135406 I was hoping you would come along and answer - thanks FM. Don't you also give Akira a little Zyrtec?
535822 tn?1443976780 t go to a chiropractor. I got rid of all my food allergies and the inhalant allergies he tested me for. And the results are fast and permanent. Regular allergy doctors have an easy life. The patient never gets better, never gets worse, and doesn't wake you up at night.
3234592 tn?1349819177 I am a woman in my early 20s, and I have recently found red itchy bumps on the back of my arms. It started in a cluster right under my right shoulder, now it is spreading down both my arm and my back. I don't have and food allergies, nor am I allergic to any insect or plants. The only things I'm allergic to are cat dander, dust, and morphine, there are no cat's at my house, there's dust but I don't think that can do this to my arm, and I haven't taken any morphine.
Avatar f tn Allergic reaction can occur to strong soaps, Solvents, chemicals, certain foods, food additives, plants, metals, cosmetics, even urine and faeces of some animals (dust mites). Diagnosis of eczema due to allergies includes skin ***** tests (pricking the skin with a needle or pin containing a small amount of the allergen ('***** Testing' or 'Scratch Testing'), patch tests (by applying a patch to the skin, where the patch contains the allergen.)and RAST.
Avatar f tn How do y'all deal with cat allergies?!?!? I've just recently become super allergic to my best friends cat's and I wanna be able to go see her without her cats killing me!!! (or me wanting to kill myself for that matter!) It's really bad, and my eyes, ears, throat, nose and basically whole body have really become anti-cats lately :( What should I do?!?!?! Thanks for the tips and suggestions friends!
Avatar f tn Allergies aren't hereditary but they can come and go. Some people outgrow allergies and others get them when they are older. My little brother had a lot of allergies when he was a kid (including pet dander) and outgrew them, while I didn't have them as a child but became more prone to them as an adult.
Avatar n tn My cat has been throwing up rather frequently as of late. She's never been one to do so [except the occasional hairball. But we're talking once a year for that] It's often almost a lime green colour and has the consistency of pudding; Maybe not quite as thick but very close. Other times, it's more light green with chunks of food. She's thrown up three times today but I've no clue if it's plants that she's eating or if she's sick.
Avatar f tn I have had a scope through nose and cat scan to rule out no damage that would be keeping this in my throat. I have taken med give by MD as well as allergy meds OTC. I need help.. What can I do? I am wheezing.
Avatar m tn I do not know for sure if the Elderberry/Flowers are safe for cats to consume, but I honestly think once cooked it could be mixed in after cooked/dried with wet cat food to help with allergies, runny nose/goopy eye/cough/sneeze; Cold/Flue viruses.
2169449 tn?1358489923 I take Zyrtec 10 mg tablet daily im allergic to my cat/ seasonal allergies etc.
Avatar f tn over the next couple weeks i started getting vertigo whenever it felt like my ear was starting to open it would last 2 hours to 10 hours, not getting any answers from my doctor, i went to the emergency rm.
Avatar f tn I was told with my first they don't develop allergies until the age of 1 or 2 yrs. I can't remember which. It's been 5 yrs ago lol. Having a cat will actually help build up their immune system.
1110049 tn?1409402144 I have recently got a new cat, and the first thing he does when he goes out, is sniff the cat nip plant. My last cat used to roll over and over on it, and look like she was in ecstasy. I guess it acts like a drug to cats. I know cats love toys filled with catnip, but if you haven't seen the pleasure the plant gives them, perhaps you would like to try growing it.
Avatar m tn Last night our 5 year old neutered male cat just up and died. History of him is that he has always been a "puker." We had him examined and we were told he was fine that some cats just do that. We played with various foods because it would get worse with certain ones. Finally probably the past 4 months, he has only had a few hairballs and a very few food vomiting episodes. Much improvement. He has had a great appetite, no loss of energy, acting as his usual self..
