Avatar m tn If you can definitely relate it to the cat, see if your girlfriend could/would vacuum right before you come over, clean up as much of the cat hair and dander before you come over, possibly keep the cat in a different room of thehouse than you're going to be in and stay away from the cat as much as possible. This may help reduce your symptoms while you are there. You may also want to consider taking one of the over the counter allergy meds such as Zyrtec or Benadryl.
Avatar f tn I have allergies, dust, hay fever, cat hair ect.... not life or death type allergies, but sneezing, itchy nose and eyes, headaches. I take a one a day antihistamine to deal with it. .. but it says on the box not to take if pregnant. Im only 7 weeks, and have stopped taking them... but my allergies are horrible at the moment. All the sneezing is not helping with my morning sickness. During my last pregancey my symptoms actually went away but not this time...
753096 tn?1233582336 If it is...can anyone suggest over-the-counter drugs or ointments I can use while I try to find out what it is that's causing it?
1232362 tn?1333135406 I was hoping you would come along and answer - thanks FM. Don't you also give Akira a little Zyrtec?
Avatar f tn There is a solution called allerpet-c that pet stores should carry, if not it is available over the internet. It is a liquid solution you rub on the cat and it helps to denature some of the cat dander. Works wonders for me, defintely have more symptoms when the cats are due to be washed. Vaccuum a lot and groom the cat regularly outside to help keep the hair down in the house.
5591135 tn?1380168056 What are some herbs/supplements that are safe to give cats that are over the counter to help with bladder infections/UTI's? We just cleaned the litter boxes and someone is peeing massive amounts of blood. I know its not Milo-he uses the upstairs box. We 5 other cats to rule out. Sigh....None are acting weird.
365714 tn?1292199108 MJ, look how many years you've been around the cats-don't you think that if you were allergic something would've shown up a long time ago? I'm no doctor, but I'm gonna guess that your headaches are from something else-you on a new med, change of dose, more stress, fever, etc. Don't let the doctor blame this on allergies without checking out other causes. If it does wind up diagnosed as allergies, there's lots of good meds out there.
Avatar f tn How do y'all deal with cat allergies?!?!? I've just recently become super allergic to my best friends cat's and I wanna be able to go see her without her cats killing me!!! (or me wanting to kill myself for that matter!) It's really bad, and my eyes, ears, throat, nose and basically whole body have really become anti-cats lately :( What should I do?!?!?! Thanks for the tips and suggestions friends!

Avatar f tn I take Piriton (from over the counter) the dosage they gave me was no more than 2 in 24 hours :)
Avatar m tn t recall the name of this medicine. My question is, are there any over-the-counter medications that we can give this poor cat so we don't have to pay 50$ over and over again to visit the Vet. Sometimes when he sneezes its almost 20 times in a row. Very very odd... any help would be appreciated.
874521 tn?1424116797 My cat has allergies that cause skin breakouts, I've done the steroid route and this works for awhile, now using a change in food and omega 3's and so far he has only had one small breakout that lasted only 2 days and didn't go on to become open and raw sores. My question is, I've read that sometimes benadryl at .25mg per pound can be successful in cats. Is this also avail in topical form rather than using systemically?
11803947 tn?1430842645 That doesn't do anything to me ;/ I was on high dose with allegra, zyrtec, atarax, and a few others and the sprays before pregnant. Over the counter med doesn't help but thank god today got better after the bloody nose.
Avatar n tn My cat has been sneezing and having nasal discharge for a month now. She has no other symptoms. She plays, she eats well. Just sneezes and has nasal drainage. Her eyes are good. No swollen or runny eyes. Is this allergies? I noticed she usually only sneezes when her nose touches objects or she sniffs. Sometimes mucous comes out with the sneeze.
Avatar m tn You can buy them over the counter or if it is really bad, your doctor should be able to prescribe a prescription strength. My younger son is on allergy medicine year round. Poor guy. If he doesn't take it, he's a mess. anyway, check out the eye drops.
Avatar f tn I have really bad allergies and was wondering if I could take over the counter allergy medication? My nose is itchy, eyes are watering, I'm constantly sneezing. It's getting super annoying. I attempted to contact my OB but she never called me back. Does anyone know if I can or can't. Thanks in advance!
Avatar f tn I'm having the same issue with my eyes, I've used everything possible and nothing is helping
Avatar m tn Omeprazole is a good drug to combat this. Along with it you can try over the counter antacids. Avoid heavy meals. Avoid too much of caffeine, tea, fried food and drinks both alcoholic and non alcoholic fuzzy ones. Avoid heavy exercises within 4 hours of a heavy meal. Raise the head end of the bed by pillows to 30 degrees. Go to bed at least 2 hours after food. “GERD symptoms are often relieved by over-the-counter, acid-reducing agents called antacids.
Avatar f tn s office is closed and talk to a pharmacist make sure they know how far along your wife is AND any meds she may be taking over the counter or prescription and they can tell you what she can and can not take Hpe she fells better
Avatar m tn ve had allergy tests and came back with moderate allergy to dust, dust mites and mild reaction to cat. I continue to get sick off and on....I think it is going away and I start to feel normal then out of nowhere it hits me again. I'm running a low grade fever - can this be cause by allergies. Can this constant post nasal drip be allergies and if so, why am I so sick from it?
Avatar f tn Allergies aren't hereditary but they can come and go. Some people outgrow allergies and others get them when they are older. My little brother had a lot of allergies when he was a kid (including pet dander) and outgrew them, while I didn't have them as a child but became more prone to them as an adult.
905793 tn?1254273122 The symptoms you describe can be typical of fleas, and if if your cat and the poodle are not already treated with a good prescription monthly flea preventative such as Advantage, Frontline, or Revolution, then I would recommend starting with this (call your veterinarian to obtain these products; over the counter flea control products are not as effective and can be toxic to cats). Fleas can sometimes be hard to find especially since cats tend to groom them off.
1613602 tn?1306199123 t know your medical history, I would suggest asking your local pharmacist they can help you pick something over the counter to try.
Avatar f tn Nasalcort has now gone over the counter. I like nasonex and my doctor usually has samples. I am allergic to everything even my cat who sleeps with me.
Avatar n tn Hi Kiki, My cat was just dx'd with herpes in her eyes. For years, we too, thought it was allergies, but no. According to my vet, herpes is very common in cats. The way I figured out what was possibly going on with my cat was to google "feline herpes conjunctivitis." Some sites will give you pictures to look at and compare as well as descriptions. Discharge from the eyes have many possible dx's, but a simple blood test will confirm whether your kitty has herpes or not.
