Having several allergies, including many outdoors one (trees, grass, mold, and oas resulting) as well as some food allergies, and also pet allergies, i finally went to see an allergist earlier this year. He prescribed veramist for my seasonal allergies and suggested that i take a combination of NASALCROM(nasal), PATADAY(eyes), and intol (chest), ten minutes before entering a home with cats. Initially i saw great results with no allergies for about 3 or 4 hours.
My cat has been sneezing and having nasal discharge for a month now. She has no other symptoms. She plays,she eats well. Just sneezes and has nasal drainage. Her eyes are good. No swollen or runny eyes. Is this allergies? I noticed she usually only sneezes when her nose touches objects or she sniffs. Sometimes mucous comes out with the sneeze.
We are allowing the neighbors cat to live with us because they kept him outdoors (he is declawed) and he was starving. He has been to the vet and the vet just mentioned something about his skin being allergies. He was there because of a messy bottom. He has a senstive stomach. Well we give him meds for his stomach when the problem arises. We just put him on a new food designed for senstive stomachs. I think it is helping.
How do y'all deal with cat allergies?!?!? I've just recently become super allergic to my best friends cat's and I wanna be able to go see her without her cats killing me!!! (or me wanting to kill myself for that matter!) It's really bad, and my eyes, ears, throat, nose and basically whole body have really become anti-cats lately :( What should I do?!?!?! Allergies aren't hereditary but they can come and go. Some people outgrow allergies and others get them when they are older. My little brother had a lot of allergies when he was a kid (including pet dander) and outgrew them, while I didn't have them as a child but became more prone to them as an adult.

I was told with my first they don't develop allergies until the age of 1 or 2 yrs. I can't remember which. It's been 5 yrs ago lol. Having a cat will actually help build up their immune system.
Hi there, I am 22 years old and I would get serious Hive allergies on the areas that are exposed to the sun whenever I step outside as short as just 15min. After an hour indoors, it would cool down and be normal again. I dont think its sunburn. This occurs only in the morning and aftenoon, but at night-time when its cooler I'm completely fine. I don't think I would've taken a chance with the beehive in the first place. I don't know if the poison ivy story is really true, because I have become allergic to wasp stings, so I wouldn't have even attempted to annoy the bees in the first place. That said, I do know that stinging nettles are also used medicinally for allergies. But, you don't have to get stung by the nettles to get the benefits from it. You buy it dried at the herbalist or even the vitamin store.

Hello and welcome to the cat forum! So glad you found us. I have my cat dewormed once a year, but I believe if kitty is an outdoor cat, it can be done every six months. Only thing is, I've read that the de-worming meds are hard on kitties system so six months might be too much. Hopefully, someone with more knowledge can give you a for sure answer.

Greetings! My name is Tom and I suffer from severe non- food related allergies. Although they can be controlled, I find that my allergic reaction to dogs is so strong that drugs have little effect.
The obvious solution is to take immunotherapy (allergy shots). However, when I contacted my allergist's secretary she said that they do no have one. I would like to rebut her claim, but in order to do so I need proof that this exists.
The reason pregnant women are told not to clean the cat litter is because cat (and dog) faeces can contain toxoplasma, which is a bacteria which caused toxoplasmosis - if a pregnant woman was to contract this, the fetus could be harmed, particularly it causes brain damage in the fetus.
The urine isn't a huge issue for your grandson, however the cat and dog hair could be contributing to his asthma.
