1116122 tn?1268496794 I have no intention of getting rid of my cat, however, since this is the best my allergies have been around pets in years. Other than Zyrtec, are there allergy shots covered by insurance that I could take, or other allergy medications that are prescription? My insurance company stopped covering Allegra, which was perfect (bummer). Thanks for your help in advance.
365714 tn?1292199108 t let the doctor blame this on allergies without checking out other causes. If it does wind up diagnosed as allergies, there's lots of good meds out there. Zyrtec is over the counter-works great. Singulair is another good drug-prescription and also works great!
Avatar f tn Allergies is a good guess. If it is bothersome you can try OTC NasalCrom about 10 minutes before you head out. Also, nasal antihistamine sprays like Patanase should help a lot. Lastly, atrovent in nasal spray form would definitely dry up the drip. Take care and run better.
Avatar m tn My male cat who is 2 years old started off a bit ago with a bald spot on his ear and has continued to get a little bigger. He also in the last weeks has been throwing up quite often. But the weird thing is, he is really energenic and he seems to eat good and drink good. I just dont get why he is throwing up as much as he is and having the bald spot on his ear. Anyone have any ideas what could be going on with him, anything to worry about?
Avatar f tn I've never been bothered before with allergies until this year on tx. I'm not even sure if they're allergies for me, but I've never had so many sinus issues before. I've increased my water intake and use a neti pot from time to time and this seems to work, but I think mine are more a result of dryness. Hope you find something that works well for you!
Avatar f tn i have really bad allergies to cat, dust, mytes, indoor allergies...... so my question is.. do i have to build up the allegra into my system for it to really work... i just found out i have had them for eight years.. so im sure my immune system is messed up since i never treated it.. i didnt know what i had....
Avatar n tn My cat has been sneezing and having nasal discharge for a month now. She has no other symptoms. She plays, she eats well. Just sneezes and has nasal drainage. Her eyes are good. No swollen or runny eyes. Is this allergies? I noticed she usually only sneezes when her nose touches objects or she sniffs. Sometimes mucous comes out with the sneeze.
Avatar f tn A cat that was injured before or hurt in any way often pull there hair out. Pain causes them to pull out the hair in places where there in pain or either itching from healing.
1232362 tn?1333135406 I was hoping you would come along and answer - thanks FM. Don't you also give Akira a little Zyrtec?
Avatar f tn You may apply a mild steroid cream like 1% hydrocortisone cream and take OTC anthistaminics like benadryl or Claritin. In case of intense itching an oral dose of anti-histamine like Dimetapp, Chlortrimeton is very effective in relieving itch. Once the itch stops, you will stop scratching as well and the healing will take place faster.
Avatar f tn How do y'all deal with cat allergies?!?!? I've just recently become super allergic to my best friends cat's and I wanna be able to go see her without her cats killing me!!! (or me wanting to kill myself for that matter!) It's really bad, and my eyes, ears, throat, nose and basically whole body have really become anti-cats lately :( What should I do?!?!?! Thanks for the tips and suggestions friends!
Avatar f tn Does anyone know what could cause a sudden change in allergies? I suddenly developed an allergy to everything environmental (that I've been tested for.) Every tree, grass, pet, dust mites, etc. These allergies cause swelling, breathing issues, sneezing, hives, and the list goes on. I'm 21 years old. Is there a reason behind a sudden drastic allergy change, or is this fairly common?
Avatar f tn Allergies aren't hereditary but they can come and go. Some people outgrow allergies and others get them when they are older. My little brother had a lot of allergies when he was a kid (including pet dander) and outgrew them, while I didn't have them as a child but became more prone to them as an adult.
Avatar f tn Hi, Severe persistent allergies can be treated with newer options of treatment like leukotreine inhibitors, allergy shots, mast cell inhibitors etc. These options should be chosed considering individual symptoms and their severity. Best.
Avatar m tn It went away on its own although I did give him antibiotics (a waste of money since the kitten gave URI to my older cat, I didn’t give my older cat ANYTHING and now they’re both fine) So, it may go away on its own. How long has the cat been sneezing? I know it’s sad to see them sneeze so many times in a row. Seeing that in my kitten made me pretty sad. But you definitely want to let the vet know that treatment didn’t work. Do you remember if the vet told you what type of URI your cat has?
Avatar f tn Okay so I'm 11 weeks and my nasal congestion/allergies have never been worse! Any one have this problem? Maybe found a solution? I'm getting married in 18 days and would really like it if I was sneezing throughout the ceremony!!!
Avatar n tn Good morning everyone! I was diagnosed with fibro a few years back based on trigger points. That dr at the time ignored my joint symptoms because they didn't get red or hot. Last year I went to a new rheum. and he confirmed fibro and said that many of my seemingly unrelated symptoms were based of fibro (chronic intersistal cystitis, IBS, migraines, etc).
2169449 tn?1358489923 I take Zyrtec 10 mg tablet daily im allergic to my cat/ seasonal allergies etc.
Avatar f tn over the next couple weeks i started getting vertigo whenever it felt like my ear was starting to open it would last 2 hours to 10 hours, not getting any answers from my doctor, i went to the emergency rm.
Avatar f tn You may try using benadryl or another antihistamine such as OTC Zyrtec. You also might be able to find a cough suppressant OTC that is aimed directly at coughing due to post nasal drip. The allergies are so bad this year, I would bet that is what is causing your problems. I was told that doctors have seen more cases of seasonal allergies and sinus infections this year alone than they have in the last 5 years. that should tell you something.
Avatar f tn I was told with my first they don't develop allergies until the age of 1 or 2 yrs. I can't remember which. It's been 5 yrs ago lol. Having a cat will actually help build up their immune system.
1901977 tn?1333991726 My allergies are killing me...anybody know of a safe over-the-counter eyedrop we can use while pregnant?
Avatar f tn hey guys, I'm 4 weeks pregnant and the whole time I've been getting sinus allergies from mine and my partners dogs!!
Avatar f tn He could have allergies even after testing, JANUARY, THAT'S THE BEGINNING OF TREE ALLERGIES.. GOOGLE IT. I also have a horrible cough that leaves me exhausted.. Chest x-rays, mri's, cat scans, allergy tests only show grass, weeds as allergy related. He could have post-nasal drip causing him to cough. Elevate his bed (pillows under mattress) portion. He could also have "reflux" and should try otc prevacid for acid reflux..stay away from spicy foods.
Avatar f tn We are allowing the neighbors cat to live with us because they kept him outdoors (he is declawed) and he was starving. He has been to the vet and the vet just mentioned something about his skin being allergies. He was there because of a messy bottom. He has a senstive stomach. Well we give him meds for his stomach when the problem arises. We just put him on a new food designed for senstive stomachs. I think it is helping.
Avatar f tn The chemicals and cleaning agents in hospitals set off my allergies. The one that gets me is the hand soap. I use the stuff and effects me until I take shower and wash it off. Also the cleaning agents have a lot of chemicals.
