cat-allergies

Avatar n tn When I went home I played with my cat and the allergies returned. What could have caused this and should I adopt a new cat if I somehow now have cat allergies?
Avatar n tn For me (not a doctor) my allergies are the strongest factor for my asthma. My asthma isn't that bad if you take away my allergies. Each person is different, however you asked "Do you think allergies could play a role?" It is absolutely possible.
Avatar m tn Look for a product called allerpet-c, it is a third party tested liquid you wipe on the cat and it destroys the cat dander. It takes a couple of weeks to notice a difference but sure helped me. Make sure you are cleaning and vacuuming well, try to use a hepa filter in your vacuum.
Avatar n tn Hi there, I hope your cat started eating again? Mine did this in October. He stopped eating, we took him to the vet. The vet said he had allergies, gave him meds. My cat still didn't eat so we brought him back. It turned out that his allergies affected his pancreas and he developed secondary diabetes. We had to leave our cat at the animal hospital for one full week because he wouldn't eat. He was on IV. Once a cat stops eating, he/she loses the interest to eat.
Avatar n tn My cat has been sneezing and having nasal discharge for a month now. She has no other symptoms. She plays, she eats well. Just sneezes and has nasal drainage. Her eyes are good. No swollen or runny eyes. Is this allergies? I noticed she usually only sneezes when her nose touches objects or she sniffs. Sometimes mucous comes out with the sneeze.

Avatar f tn How do y'all deal with cat allergies?!?!? I've just recently become super allergic to my best friends cat's and I wanna be able to go see her without her cats killing me!!! (or me wanting to kill myself for that matter!) It's really bad, and my eyes, ears, throat, nose and basically whole body have really become anti-cats lately :( What should I do?!?!?! Thanks for the tips and suggestions friends!
Avatar f tn my cat has been in remission from lymphoma for about 6 months (after having a terrible time with aggressive chemo). Recently, she's been vomiting again - mostly bile - but it's gotten to be more forceful as it goes on. She vomited 1x last week and then last night it happened twice. I know that if the vomiting started it could be a sign of her cancer returning, but she has no other symptoms at all. She's actually gained some weight and has a lot of energy.
Avatar f tn Allergies aren't hereditary but they can come and go. Some people outgrow allergies and others get them when they are older. My little brother had a lot of allergies when he was a kid (including pet dander) and outgrew them, while I didn't have them as a child but became more prone to them as an adult.
Avatar f tn As for your theory, contact can make the allergy worse. And sometimes allergies disappear on their own. So who knows.... I got rid of my allergies through kinesiology. The method is related to Chinese medicine. No medication is involved, and unlike the procedure used by traditional allergists, the results are swift and permanent.

Avatar f tn over the next couple weeks i started getting vertigo whenever it felt like my ear was starting to open it would last 2 hours to 10 hours, not getting any answers from my doctor, i went to the emergency rm.
Avatar f tn I was told with my first they don't develop allergies until the age of 1 or 2 yrs. I can't remember which. It's been 5 yrs ago lol. Having a cat will actually help build up their immune system.
Avatar f tn I have been suffering from sudden onset of palpitations, and weakness. this is accompanied by pressure in the chest and pain in my left arm. I have been treated for GER and SVT with an ablation. I have an ECHO, and stress tests, EKG's , and holter monitors. all are normal. The symptoms start with a tingling in my face, then I have a flushing feeling, followed by palpitations, pounding heartbeat, chest pressure and pain down my left arm. all labs and EKG's are normal.
Avatar n tn Hi, Over the past few months I've noticed that I am having a hard time breathing once I start to exhert myself. When I try to run after my kids or when I exercise (sometimes minimal exertion, too) I feel like it's hard to get my breath. It kind of feels like my airway is smaller and it's harder to get the air through. I also notice a tightness in my chest when this happens. Even right now, when I take a deep breath, I can feel it's kind of tight.
Avatar f tn hey guys, I'm 4 weeks pregnant and the whole time I've been getting sinus allergies from mine and my partners dogs!!
Avatar m tn Greetings! My name is Tom and I suffer from severe non- food related allergies. Although they can be controlled, I find that my allergic reaction to dogs is so strong that drugs have little effect. The obvious solution is to take immunotherapy (allergy shots). However, when I contacted my allergist's secretary she said that they do no have one. I would like to rebut her claim, but in order to do so I need proof that this exists.

1844975 tn?1318900277 I was diagnosed with AOA about a year ago, the summer after I graduated high school after what I thought were asthma attacks ( I have had severe asthma since birth ) kept progressively getting worse and worse until I was tested for allergies. I'm allergic to things I've eaten my whole life, and the list is long. I've had a terrible time trying to find ANYTHING that I can really eat because everything is processed and organic food is so expensive.
Avatar n tn Hi Kiki, My cat was just dx'd with herpes in her eyes. For years, we too, thought it was allergies, but no. According to my vet, herpes is very common in cats. The way I figured out what was possibly going on with my cat was to google "feline herpes conjunctivitis." Some sites will give you pictures to look at and compare as well as descriptions. Discharge from the eyes have many possible dx's, but a simple blood test will confirm whether your kitty has herpes or not.
Avatar m tn t know why that is impacting his life, but it sounds like the cat has anxiety. Usually if the cat has food allergies, they will scratch around their neck, top of their head and possibly around their face. It could also be allergies from something else, such as fleas, flea bites or dust. This is harder to determine and may have to be discovered by a vet. If they feel that is the reason, they can give the cat a shot that will temporarily relieve the itching for about a month.
