7639611 tn?1392877261 ve been experiencing itchy red patches of skin that look like a rash on my arms, hands, and legs. The skin on my forehead is red, irritated, dry and flaky, though not quite as itchy. The skin all around my eyes is also red, irritated, dry and flaky. Oh, and my nipples are cracking. I use a humidifier, and I've tried applying Allegra cream, Vaseline, and Neosporin. I've also been taking Allegra orally. I wash my sheets, vacuum, and keep my living environment clean.
Avatar n tn Your symptoms present exactly the same as mine. I have cat allergies, but have had a cat for the past year with no problems. However, just a few days before I got this rash, we took in another cat. So I'm thinking it could be allergies that cat. However, when I looked up pictures of the rash online, it looked more like irritant contact dermatitis rather than allergic contact dermatitis. Oh dear, I just saw that you wrote in 2008, so I'm sure your rash is gone by now.
1756384 tn?1312562154 Even though I vacuum and dust continually!, cat hair gets up my nose, in my throat and "jumps" on my legs, makes me itch on my face and also seems to cause my itching uinder my breast area, around where my underwear where it is tight around the creases of my skin( inside thigh area for example). It also makes my mood suck! I have been on Singulair for one week. daily saline nose rinses, veramist nose spray. It seemed to help a little bit but now not much.
Avatar n tn Hi veed, I'm sorry about your pet. Mange can be so difficult to treat!! I have my cat with ringworm, which also causes hair loss and it is also spreading. My cat doesn't seem to be itchy around the ears. So, would you describe for us how the skin looks? Is it dry, flaky, scaly, do you see scabs? Sometimes, the only symptoms for ringworm is hair loss in irregular patterns. Doesn't have to be circular spots. So, I'd pay attention to that.
Avatar m tn I've developed severe allergies since moving in with my girlfriend who has a cat and a dog. So severe that I am constantly sick whenever home, find myself waking up in the middle of the night gasping for air (asthma - I have an inhaler), and hacking up a lung in the mornings. We've tried vacuuming more and bathing the animals but it being a small town home, living in close quarters, it does not seem to help. Now we are looking at me moving out and starting allergy shots.
1474611 tn?1416632958 My cat is so itchy. He's got little tiny bumps under his chin, behind both ears (right one is worse). He very rarely goes out. And when he does, he's not out for more than maybe 10 minutes. He's 2.5 years old, weighs about 15 pounds, and has short fur. His diet hasn't changed in the whole time I've had him. Flea stuff doesn't seem to help him either. Any suggestions?
Avatar f tn So many dietary allergies are caused by the grains in dry cat food, you need to try something that contains no grain and no wheat gluten. In many instances, food allergies that have baffled vets and owners for years turn out to be caused by the wheat gluten in the food. Maybe try the type of diet that PrettyKitty1 has been feeding her Abby.
747266 tn?1401745317 I am suffering from burning, itchy and inflammed skin. It usually starts in my legs ( either my ankles, feet, mostly behind my thighs) and the burning/itchy sensation travels and intensifies towards my rear end. At this point, I am in near tears, and can barely breath and tempted to scratch. I have not let it get any worse. I spoke to my doctor about it and he told me to let it get to the boiling point and admit myself into the hospital for tests.
Avatar f tn so animals and me go together My dad grew up with a cat allergy he couldnt be in a house where cats lived...he would get itchy, cough and sneeze but he grew out of it, because we now have four and they don't bother him...the last two years or so whenever i am near the cats i get the same symptoms my eyes water, cough, stuffy nose its like a sudden cold. Avatar m tn Top Ten Reasons Why Your Pet May Be Itchy by Jean Hofve, DVM, Veterinary Advisor to Only Natural Pet Itching—and the scratching, biting, and licking that goes with it—is one of the most common health problems in dogs and cats. Frequent head-shaking, scratching, rubbing, chewing, or licking some area of skin (including ears) means there’s a problem with itching, technically called “pruritis.
Avatar f tn m curious...What allergies are the shots for? Because of all the skin issues now, does it mean that the allergy injections are not working? Or, do they feel she has become allergic to new items? Has she always been like this or is it a seasonal thing? What do you feed as a primary food? Have you tried Benedryl to help her rest? Let me know.....
Avatar n tn Itchy skin, sores, and the fat lip (likely an eosinophilic granuloma) are indeed all allergy related. The fat lip also is commonly secondarily infected with bacteria, so I would recommend a 2-3 week course of antibiotics if not already done. The three types of allergies are parasite (fleas, mites), food allergy, and pollen/dust allergies. If your cat is already on a good flea control such as Advantage or Revolution, then parasites are less likely.
Avatar f tn I have skin allergies I describe them as swollen and itchy it started as a small dot but when you scratch it more it becomes bigger. What kind of allergy is this?
779797 tn?1263618235 Ive got an 8 year old cat who has recently got some odd looking skin marks. It looked like he got scratched by something , but after the scratches healed, i noticed a bump and some weird skin. The bump is kind of small, and its all black. No red irriation, it isnt itching him, its just there. There was some flaking of the skin and a slight bit of fur coming out, but thats the extent of it. Note he is lacking hair in front of his ears, just normal.
Avatar n tn s kindda rare but it does happen. OCD in dogs is a bit more comon I believe. Hopefully, your cat has a skin condition which can easily be treated. OCD is much more treaky. One of the magazines I get on my email has this article which I hope you'll find interesting in case the vet tells you she has absolutely no skin conditions but her condition is behavioral. Here is the article.
1153085 tn?1341301893 My cat suddenly started to develop dry, itchy skin on her head, ears, especially between the eyes and ears. A blood test revealed that she had become allergic to cow's milk, wheat, oats and yeast, as well as borderline allergic to a bunch of other things. We changed her food and the rash went away.
168348 tn?1379357075 We had a cat for 20 yrs and who died 2 yrs ago and my dd's asthma got better (hmmmmmm) .... stil there but doing really well except for illness. We were thinking of trying a hypoallergenic kitty but probably won't at this time. She tested many yrs ago very very slightly allergic via skin tests but reacts to other people's cats and needs Benadryl (itchy eyes, but no asthma) .... although living with our cat she never had that problem so we really just don't know.
Avatar f tn A cat that was injured before or hurt in any way often pull there hair out. Pain causes them to pull out the hair in places where there in pain or either itching from healing.
Avatar f tn The tranquilizer is not going to help itchy skin and cats often react badly to tranqulizers. My old cat had the steroid shot and it lasted 2 or 3 months then she started pulling again and I had to get another one but BOTH vets didn't want to do it because of the danger. I took a risk and so far the 2nd shot lasted for about 6 months. It's called a depo medrol shot.
Avatar n tn Once the air way is irritated, the cough will stay for a bit. But all allergies I suffer and my son involve itchiness. Itchy nasal cavity, itchy sinus or itchy eyes. I'm guessing your cats are not the problem.
Avatar n tn I’ve tried to search on the web which skin allergies is particular to mine but couldn’t find it. Hope you could give me an advice what allergy is this and what to do.
Avatar n tn Good Day, I hope you are all well. Please could you kindly assist me, I have a huge problem with skin particularly on my hands. Its very itchy and each time I scratch I get dark marks. I'm not sure if it the kind of food that I eat but I've been using the same bathing soap, washing detergents as well as the same body cream. Is there any cream that I can use to get rid of the marks and stop the itching?
Avatar m tn I have come to a conclusion that by not taking my medicine as prescribed my hormone levels have dropped causing numerous problems, one of those including unbalanced/dry itchy skin. I live in TX so the heat only aggravates it more. Including certain lotions i have been experimenting with and non-stop showers. Lesson learned : DON'T FORGET TO TAKE YOUR MEDS!
203342 tn?1328737207 The more common cat allergy is to various proteins contained in cat saliva. These proteins can be deposited on hair and skin when the cat grooms itself and then become airborne when hair or dander (dead skins cells are shed. More likely the symptoms are from dust, mold, and other debris that get kicked out into the house when you first few times the central heating system kicks in.
Avatar n tn I have been dealing with itchy skin since I moved in with my fiance. He lives in an old house but has renovated the majority of it and checked for impurities in the air. I try to put lotion on to help with dry skin and we use a water softener. I do not shower in real hot water so that can be ruled out as well. We have 2 cats and 2 dogs that live in the house, but my cats never made me itch in my previous home, and the dogs no longer sleep on the bed.
