I have had cats my whole life and they usually have slept in my bed at one time or the other. Since losing my beloved cat in Hurricane Dennis I haven't had another cat in 3years. I had my appendix removed last August. I mentioned that because of the mystery purpose of the appendix in the human body. I recently acquired a new 7wk old kitten and for the first week I had it,I showed no signs of an allergy.

How. Exactly will you err on side of caution? Do you realize how small a dose an average 10 lb cat would need in relation to the weight of the human it was prescribed for?

That said, Im going to monitor my cat at all times and not let her be in the nursery or room when baby is napping and so am I. My cat hasnt tried jumping in the crib so Im relieved about that too.

But if they're hypoallergenic then it must mean the hair texture is different. I know Yorkshire dogs are less likely to cause allergies because of the hair type which is closer than any other breed to human hair.

Now if you cat has the herpes virus and this URI is one of the symptoms, your older cat can catch it from her. Although if they have been together for sometime they are both immune or both infected already. Theses URI will happen several times a year.

Some vets will recommend benadryl to cats with allergies. Usually, those allergies are presented by a cat scratching, not a swollen throat and paw. Talk to the vet first. My cat does the same thing. I've had her looked at and they kept saying it was probably allergies. She also gets a weepy eye from time to time and I have to get an ointment to put in her eye. This last time we decided to try antibiotics in case it was some sort of viral bacteria or something. I've heard herpes in cats can cause these type symptoms too. You might want to get that checked out. Otherwise, it's probably just allergies.

Hi, Let's not assume bee sting. Is the whole leg swollen or just part? Is the foot and/or ankle swollen? Is your cat licking or paying special attention to a specific site on the leg? Is there any wound or mark, even a scratch on the swollen leg? It could very likely be an infection, or, since he's putting no weight on it at all, it could be broken. Either would account for swelling.

I would say your cat sneezing for 3 days tells me that it's time for a vet visit. I wouldn't assume it's allergies. Allergies usually don't show up out of the blue in a 4 yr old kitty. How high are your vet fees? Mine is around $40. If you're paying much more than that, it's time to find a new vet.

so animals and me go together My dad grew up with a cat allergy he couldnt be in a house where cats lived...he would get itchy, cough and sneeze but he grew out of it, because we now have four and they don't bother him...the last two years or so whenever i am near the cats i get the same symptoms my eyes water, cough, stuffy nose its like a sudden cold. The other thing is, and look this up in case I have it wrong, but once a cat or a human has had toxoplasmosis, they can't get it again. I know my doctor had me do a toxoplasmosis titer when I was pregnant (to see if I had had it before), and can't imagine why he would have done that if once does not confer immunity.
