Avatar f tn My husband hit 40 and got allergies to grass, horses, cats and tree pollen. He had never had allergies before. The allergist told him it's pretty common for one's reactions to things like that to change in the course of one's life.
Avatar f tn Found out I am allergic to dog dander, cat hair, dust mites and 2 types of grass( kentucky blue grass and burmuda). Bad thing is my daughter has a dog and 2 puppies in her room:(( I hate to make her get rid of them although we may end up putting them outside eventually. The only symptoms I am having are bumps that itch. I don't have any trouble with sneezing, runny nose or sore throat. Is there any way they can stay in the house and get my symptoms under control?
Avatar f tn I agree with what others said, Good luck - we have a cat who has allergies and we think she might actually be allergic to the other cats - LOL! But, she's doing very well even with the allergies.
Avatar f tn ve heard allergies can be inherited. My dad was allergic to grass as well and highly allergic to cat dander. Asthma triggers can be challenging but knowing what they are and avoiding them as much as possible, I think , is the key. Also, for me, cigarette smoke is a trigger too. I wish you well.
9552239 tn?1404989880 I am also allergic to dust, so house dust, chalk dust, pollen, grass pollen ( especially June grass apparently ), cat dander to some extent and penicillin. As for my asthma , it is probably related to my allergies as there has to be an allergy trigger to cause the asthma. Due to my allergy to penicillin , I decided to register with Medical Alert and I have a medical alert bracelet which I try to remember to put on when I go on errands .
Avatar f tn Does anyone know what could cause a sudden change in allergies? I suddenly developed an allergy to everything environmental (that I've been tested for.) Every tree, grass, pet, dust mites, etc. These allergies cause swelling, breathing issues, sneezing, hives, and the list goes on. I'm 21 years old. Is there a reason behind a sudden drastic allergy change, or is this fairly common?
Avatar f tn My symptoms lasted about 4 wks before I finally felt normal again. I continued to see the ENT who tested me for allergies (dogs, grass, dust mold, etc........). I came out w/mod to severe allergies. They started me on an allergy serum at least 4-5 months ago (supposed to desensitize me to allergens). So, for my question. I feel like I have the typical diagnosable sinus infection.
Avatar f tn I currently take Xyzal and Nasacort for allergies and medication for asthma (Singulair and Symbicort). I'm also taking allergy shots for cat dander and grass pollens. When I go running by wooded areas I get a horrible runny nose. My runny nose goes away about 10-15 minutes after I get inside from my run. I'm wondering if it could be from allergies or if it could be from something else. Thanks.
1232362 tn?1333135406 t know a lot about cats, I have one cat ,who found me a couple of years ago, but may I ask.what is cat grass? I have noticed my Tweety when she is outside nibbles around the 'grass' plants ..I do know having been a former dog person that dogs eat grass when they feel nausea , could there be something similar with cats ...
688143 tn?1228580875 There is stuff called oat grass, ( i call it cat grass). It is safe for them to eat. I started to grow it so that my cats would stop eating my plants. I just grow it in a small rubber bin and put it by a window. I also have noticed if i don't have it out for a while and then put it out when they first start eating it they do throw up but after a while they stop. Hope that helps.
Avatar f tn My dog had her blood work tested for allergies and is currently having shots now for almost a year. Her stomach is breaking out so bad now and her skin on her stomach has got so thin from all the Cortizone sprays, injections etc.. Our vet has takin her off all Cortizone do to skin thinning out. Do you know of any other product we can use instead of Cortizone. "Jersey" our dog is always licking and not resting much because of this.
440120 tn?1211724496 I've recently been to an allergist because of newly acquired allergies. I'm 43. I developed an allergy to cats in my 20s after having cats since I was a child. I got a new kitten and found that her saliva gave me hives. Since then I've always had a mild cat allergy. I was tested and found allergic to cats and dogs and a mild reaction to milk. Everything else was negative.
Avatar n tn My cat Malachite who is about three and a half years old has a brownish skin discoloration above his eyes that started out small and patchy and is now spreading.I am not sure but his fur might be a little thin around the area.He was an indoor cat for 2 years but is now an indoor and out door cat.I don't have the money to take him to the vet and was hoping to find out how serious it is.He has been eating and sleeping fine, acting normal, but am still concerned about long term effects.
Avatar n tn Although I am a smoker I had been attributing recent episodes of breathlessness with allergies. Because if my cat had been in my room and I go to bed I will awake coughing with my nostrils closed up so I would get up take Nyquil and go back to sleep. Everytime that would happen during the day if I tried to nap it would always be when the cat was lying near and during the day when the problem would arise I would take Dayquil and my nostril opens and the coughing would cease.
203342 tn?1328737207 ve been tested for allergies in the past and had a reaction to several things, including grass, trees, and yes, even cats. I was suprised about that because I had two cats, always had cats growing up. So apparently I am allergic to cats but never had a real bad reaction before. I do get allergies but always assumed it was a high pollen day or something. Interesting enough, some dogs I do ok with but I noticed after petting a friends dogs my arms broke out in a rash.
Avatar n tn Having several allergies, including many outdoors one (trees, grass, mold, and oas resulting) as well as some food allergies, and also pet allergies, i finally went to see an allergist earlier this year. He prescribed veramist for my seasonal allergies and suggested that i take a combination of NASALCROM(nasal), PATADAY(eyes), and intol (chest), ten minutes before entering a home with cats. Initially i saw great results with no allergies for about 3 or 4 hours.
1232362 tn?1333135406 Yes, you can. Some grocery stores even sell wheat grass for people in produce departments. I think it's less available because so many people are finding it necessary to go gluten free. The big chain pet stores often have "cat grass" somewhere near the check out. The Petco I usually go to has live wheat grass and live catnip near the check out. You can grow your own, too, though.
Avatar f tn (like fleas) can cause allergies. Not saying your cat has fleas....just saying you might want to double check :) Good Luck.
Avatar n tn any up dates I am interested in home insepection its not so expensive...I am betting they find something,,have there been changes in the home enviorment any remodeling that may of release trapped molds? also do you get carpets cleaned often ...there is a link between that and Kawasakis syndrome..
Avatar f tn anyone having severe allergies...what r u taking ? --is children's. claritin ok?
Avatar f tn Now that a lot more is known about second-hand smoke, I'm really curious if when I got married to a smoker if that didn't bring on my allergies. Within 1.5 years of being married and living with a smoker, I all of sudden developed severe allergies where I was waking up every 30 minutes because my nose was completely closed up. I became allergic to the world, there's no place I can move to alleviate it.
Avatar m tn Does anyone know how they test a six year old for allergies. My kids is constantly suffering from what I thought was colds but now I want to see if it is Allergies/Bronchitus/Asthma?
1232362 tn?1333135406 Here's what your cat greens will look like when ready to chow down; I trim little bits off the top into my cats' moist food-Opus agreed that 1/8-1/4 teaspoon every couple days or so is fine per cat.
Avatar n tn My cat has been sneezing and having nasal discharge for a month now. She has no other symptoms. She plays, she eats well. Just sneezes and has nasal drainage. Her eyes are good. No swollen or runny eyes. Is this allergies? I noticed she usually only sneezes when her nose touches objects or she sniffs. Sometimes mucous comes out with the sneeze.
Avatar n tn He's anxious. He probably has separation anxiety too, some animals also do this because they are bored/depressed Dogs & cats alike are like humans than we want to believe. Think of a child who ***** it's thumb...& can do this until it is raw or the thumb blisters. The child does this for security purposes. So, an animal will lick it's fur, paws, etc until it's bald, or sore.
Avatar f tn He could have allergies even after testing, JANUARY, THAT'S THE BEGINNING OF TREE ALLERGIES.. GOOGLE IT. I also have a horrible cough that leaves me exhausted.. Chest x-rays, mri's, cat scans, allergy tests only show grass, weeds as allergy related. He could have post-nasal drip causing him to cough. Elevate his bed (pillows under mattress) portion. He could also have "reflux" and should try otc prevacid for acid reflux..stay away from spicy foods.
Avatar f tn You're welcome, txcy. I am also allergic to grass pollen actually my worst allergy according to an allergy test I had many years ago now, is June grass pollen. By weed pollens do you mean perhaps hay fever ? When my allergies get really bad, I take a product called REACTON which is an over the counter anti allergy medication.
