Avatar n tn I'm so confused! My cat has allergies, and the vet has given her steroids, but that only helps for a little bit and I don't want to keep giving her that. I got out a healthy alternative book for cats and it says to give her garlic, and for her to breathe eucalyptus oil. I looked online at other sources which say garlic and eucalyptus oil are toxic to cats. I don't know what to do! I don't want to kill my cat, but she needs some relief! How do I know whats the truth? Help please!!
587315 tn?1333552783 Garlic is only bad when the cat has bleeding issues. Garlic is good for the fur. Garlic doesn't give cats bleeding problems, but a cat who already has bleeding problems should not be given garlic. I learned this one from Dr. Aleda. Since I switched Abby to the new diet I have been giving him a product called Missing Link (recommended by herself) and it contais garlic to help enhance fur and skin.
Avatar n tn My cat has been sneezing and having nasal discharge for a month now. She has no other symptoms. She plays, she eats well. Just sneezes and has nasal drainage. Her eyes are good. No swollen or runny eyes. Is this allergies? I noticed she usually only sneezes when her nose touches objects or she sniffs. Sometimes mucous comes out with the sneeze.

Avatar n tn Kaur, I came across a post of your about garlic allergies. My son is 4 and has tested allergic to garlic, among other foods, including nuts, eggs, and seeds. Garlic is by far the most difficult food to avoid. He has never had garlic so I don't know what his reaction would be. From your post, you appear to know about garlic allergies.
Avatar f tn I am by know means knowledgeable about food allergies, but I do know garlic is high in sulphur, and that allergies to sulphur can be very severe. Look up "sulphur allergy symptoms", and be sure not to confuse it with sulphA wich is far more common and NOT the same thing. Some are allergic to both, but if I remember correctly, that's not very common.
Avatar f tn How do y'all deal with cat allergies?!?!? I've just recently become super allergic to my best friends cat's and I wanna be able to go see her without her cats killing me!!! (or me wanting to kill myself for that matter!) It's really bad, and my eyes, ears, throat, nose and basically whole body have really become anti-cats lately :( What should I do?!?!?! Thanks for the tips and suggestions friends!
Avatar f tn Allergies aren't hereditary but they can come and go. Some people outgrow allergies and others get them when they are older. My little brother had a lot of allergies when he was a kid (including pet dander) and outgrew them, while I didn't have them as a child but became more prone to them as an adult.
Avatar m tn You could also mention to your vet that you have started feeding your cat a brand of dry cat food. They usually ask if you're feeding your cat something new. Good luck to you and your kitty.

Avatar f tn over the next couple weeks i started getting vertigo whenever it felt like my ear was starting to open it would last 2 hours to 10 hours, not getting any answers from my doctor, i went to the emergency rm.
Avatar f tn I was told with my first they don't develop allergies until the age of 1 or 2 yrs. I can't remember which. It's been 5 yrs ago lol. Having a cat will actually help build up their immune system.
Avatar m tn I am very allergic to garlic, eating that is. However the smell of garlic makes me just as ill. Would breathing in the small or fumes of garlic be similar to pollen. Thinking maybe if I added garlic in to my allergy shots I could be desensitized so I would not have reactions to the oder part of it. This question was just for the oder not actually eating it.
Avatar m tn My wife has suffered with a serious garlic allergy for over five years, which now seems to be progressing to cut peppers. Having spoken to quite a number of people about this we have established that this allergy is not as rare as the medical profession seems to believe. We have met a number of people who are effected by garlic to one degree or another. Food manufacturers often to not include it on their list of ingredients.
Avatar f tn hey guys, I'm 4 weeks pregnant and the whole time I've been getting sinus allergies from mine and my partners dogs!!
Avatar n tn When I went home I played with my cat and the allergies returned. What could have caused this and should I adopt a new cat if I somehow now have cat allergies?
215858 tn?1420171556 I think it means your kitty is liking the scent of one of the ingredients not that he is likely deficient if he is on a good balanced 'species appropriate' diet.. bioflavoids may well contain garlic which is toxic to cats so I wouldn't allow him to lick out of your pestle....
Avatar m tn Greetings! My name is Tom and I suffer from severe non- food related allergies. Although they can be controlled, I find that my allergic reaction to dogs is so strong that drugs have little effect. The obvious solution is to take immunotherapy (allergy shots). However, when I contacted my allergist's secretary she said that they do no have one. I would like to rebut her claim, but in order to do so I need proof that this exists.
7165624 tn?1395647767 I have allergies im wondering if i can buy certain pills or what do you do when u get them??
Avatar n tn This is the first time I researched allergy to onion & garlic because of some new elements in my health scenario. I also thought my allergies were unusual. I ate garlic & onions by practically inhaling them when I was yonger. My allergies started in my late 30s. I am now 61yrs young. I have managed to avoid foods that have onions & garlic written on the product package but I was still having the same reactions to other foods.
Avatar m tn ve had an allergy test this is why you know that you are have animal dander allergies. Do you have a dog, cat , bunny or hamster as a pet ? Just wondering. Be well.
Avatar n tn Hello, I am a 43-year old male, in average shape, with no history of known allergies, except for a penicillin, which was diagnosed when I was a baby. Sometime over the last 3 years or so, I realized that my sense of smell was dissipating. I can't smell much of anything, for the most part, other than faint whiffs of certain odors. I can, however, taste my food just fine...at least I think I can. For the most part, I can't smell anything foul (i.e.
Avatar n tn Hi Kiki, My cat was just dx'd with herpes in her eyes. For years, we too, thought it was allergies, but no. According to my vet, herpes is very common in cats. The way I figured out what was possibly going on with my cat was to google "feline herpes conjunctivitis." Some sites will give you pictures to look at and compare as well as descriptions. Discharge from the eyes have many possible dx's, but a simple blood test will confirm whether your kitty has herpes or not.
Avatar m tn t know why that is impacting his life, but it sounds like the cat has anxiety. Usually if the cat has food allergies, they will scratch around their neck, top of their head and possibly around their face. It could also be allergies from something else, such as fleas, flea bites or dust. This is harder to determine and may have to be discovered by a vet. If they feel that is the reason, they can give the cat a shot that will temporarily relieve the itching for about a month.
