I do not know for sure if the Elderberry/Flowers are safe for cats to consume, but I honestly think once cooked it could be mixed in after cooked/dried with wet cat food to help with allergies, runny nose/goopy eye/cough/sneeze; Cold/Flue viruses.

over grooming is usually due to allergies, can be contact allergies..and the back legs are mostly incontact with -litter or carpets. change the brand of litter you are using and be sure its NON scented. If you use cleaners on the floors....stop and use natural products for cleaning such as vinegar. try a different laundry soap(since you say he spends alot of time on the bed)...and NO dryer sheets....try the dryer balls..less chemicals.

Alright, need some input or personal experience. This is the three year in a row that my allergies/asthma (or non-asthma who knows) is getting worse from middle of november into december. This can't be due to the cats since I am down one cat now and I have NO ALLERGIES in the spring with increased shedding. It is worse when I go outside and if I'm in and out at work or if it's busy and the door is constantly opened and closed I also have worsening symptoms.

My cat has been sneezing and having nasal discharge for a month now. She has no other symptoms. She plays,she eats well. Just sneezes and has nasal drainage. Her eyes are good. No swollen or runny eyes. Is this allergies? I noticed she usually only sneezes when her nose touches objects or she sniffs. Sometimes mucous comes out with the sneeze.

How do y'all deal with cat allergies?!?!? I've just recently become super allergic to my best friends cat's and I wanna be able to go see her without her cats killing me!!! (or me wanting to kill myself for that matter!) It's really bad, and my eyes, ears, throat, nose and basically whole body have really become anti-cats lately :( What should I do?!?!?! Allergies aren't hereditary but they can come and go. Some people outgrow allergies and others get them when they are older. My little brother had a lot of allergies when he was a kid (including pet dander) and outgrew them, while I didn't have them as a child but became more prone to them as an adult.

Is it normal for male cats to wonder fair distances from home and females to stay in close vicinity. I did have a male cat but unfortunately we learned he had been killed by a car and this was about a mile from home. Our 4 females only seem to go into the back garden and occassionaly a small distance into the woods behind our house. If I call them, they are never far away and just leap over the back fence.

When I went home I played with my cat and the allergies returned. What could have caused this and should I adopt a new cat if I somehow now have cat allergies?

The obvious solution is to take immunotherapy (allergy shots). However, when I contacted my allergist's secretary she said that they do no have one. I have two cats, female and male, and the male boy (approximately 1-1/2 years old) does not like to eat cat food. He will eat it only if he's starving. But he loves to eat fresh basil, rose petals, pansys, and cold boiled shrimp! The cats are strictly indoor cats and he discovered these morsels when I accidently dropped some basil, rose petals and a pansy. The shrimp comes naturally except he will not eat any cat food flavored with fish.

Hi Kiki, My cat was just dx'd with herpes in her eyes. For years, we too, thought it was allergies, but no. According to my vet, herpes is very common in cats. The way I figured out what was possibly going on with my cat was to google "feline herpes conjunctivitis." Some sites will give you pictures to look at and compare as well as descriptions. Discharge from the eyes have many possible dx's, but a simple blood test will confirm whether your kitty has herpes or not.

There is an article in The Daily Mail March 8th (UK) which warns about Lilies, that they are deadly for cats, and even if the cat just brushes against the flowers, gets pollen on its fur, then licks the fur, that can cause severe illness, and death. I know my cat absolutely adores catnip so I make him something to play with. I grow catnip in my garden, and Smudge loves to snuggle into it and rub his face against it and even chew it.
