905425 tn?1242337287 Many cats can suffer from inflammatory bowel disease and food allergies, which cause gastrointestinal issues. Try switching your cat as advised above. Good brands of canned cat food are Evo/Innova, Orijin, Wellness, Nature's Variety and many others (since new brands are coming out every day). Read the labels! You will want human grade meat, fish, or fowl, zero carbs, etc. If your cat continues to have GI problems than a hypoallergenic, novel protein diet should be tried.
Avatar f tn I hope that gives kitty some relief!! I too had a cat with constant diarrhea and could find no answers, now that she is gone I believe from reading it was probably IBS. Prettykitty1 has posted about this and her cat needing to be on a raw food diet.....the one cat I have now has food allergies and I've tried giving the raw diet and he wouldn't eat it, he also won't eat any of the commercial foods that he should be on!!
Avatar n tn Inflammation in the rectum can be caused by food allergies, again, constipation, diarrhea or bacterial infection. You want to take the cat to the vet to get a diagnosis, and it might be a good idea to take a stool sample to the vet with you. Hopefully, your cat's problem is he is having a bit of a hard time evacuating. If there is some sort of inflammation in the rectum or colon, then antibiotics, maybe prednisone and a change in diet can help your kitty feel better.
3107761 tn?1341539856 She has always been sensitive about her ears which have always checked out. Diarrhea is more normal than not. I have taken her to the vet many times over the years. Each time she always checks out perfect on all of her tests. She used to eat Fancy Feast & Purina when she lived with her sister. She didn't have a bathroom problems when she was with her sister kitty and none for about a year after we moved out. BB and I live in a 1 bedroom loft with lots of toys and love.
Avatar f tn I know some folks disagree with feeding our little carnivores a balanced raw diet but have you thought of doing that? That is how I got my cat to stop having food allergies AFTER getting the IBD diagnosis and researching on my own since all the vets wanted to do was put him on steroids to control the diarrhea and the bleeding. I had to change his raw diet because of other unrelated issues but ultimately, going back to basics seems to work for many cat owners out there.
Avatar f tn We adopted a cat from the Humane Society about a month and a half ago. He is approx. one year old. Since we brought him home we have been battling with diarriah and vomiting. The vet put him on antiobiotics and recommended chicken and rice for diet. The cat has an appetite and was eating for about 4 days without any vomiting, and finally had a solid stool. Then all of a sudden he vomited over the weekend again and then on Monday he vomited in 4 different spots of the house.
4319250 tn?1352735757 My 3 year old long hair domestic cat has been excessively licking most of his hair off, not completely bald but to where the hair remaining is extremely short. He has been doing this for several months now, as it started when I was finishing up a cheaper flea medication I got from a dollar store. He was fine with it for about 10 or 11 months but the very last dose that I gave him is when the licking began.
Avatar n tn My cat has been sneezing and having nasal discharge for a month now. She has no other symptoms. She plays, she eats well. Just sneezes and has nasal drainage. Her eyes are good. No swollen or runny eyes. Is this allergies? I noticed she usually only sneezes when her nose touches objects or she sniffs. Sometimes mucous comes out with the sneeze.
Avatar n tn Hi, Our cat has diarrhea - it seems that she licks and licks herself and then it happens (the diarrhea) or it just happens .... Her anus is also red and swollen . Now we have taken her to the vet, he gave her a couple of injections and she was okay for the afternoon. Now unfortunately we were told to keep her in for a couple of days but our 3 year old daughter let her out :( The vet mentioned to us that he thinks that she has been mated with and that also could be why bottom is so red.

Avatar f tn How do y'all deal with cat allergies?!?!? I've just recently become super allergic to my best friends cat's and I wanna be able to go see her without her cats killing me!!! (or me wanting to kill myself for that matter!) It's really bad, and my eyes, ears, throat, nose and basically whole body have really become anti-cats lately :( What should I do?!?!?! Thanks for the tips and suggestions friends!
652407 tn?1300737199 Luckily, this food also works wonders for cats with food allergies, who experience what your cat is going through. The food is Hill’s d/d. Good Luck.
Avatar f tn Allergies aren't hereditary but they can come and go. Some people outgrow allergies and others get them when they are older. My little brother had a lot of allergies when he was a kid (including pet dander) and outgrew them, while I didn't have them as a child but became more prone to them as an adult.
Avatar m tn Hi, my daughter brought home a 6yr old cat 8months ago w/ stomach and intestinal issues. She suffers with gas/diarrhea/ throwing up. My daughter has taken this cat 3 times to the vet-nothing! I have tried many kinds of grain free and sensitive stomachs foods. Some of which were very expensive. We have 2 other cats with no issues. I can't keep changing foods all the time. Help! I am tired of cleaning up after her. Is there a cat antacid?
Avatar n tn You need to get your cat's blood tested A.S.A.P!!! A blood test may cost around $100-150, but it's worth it because it will should give you/your vet an idea of what is causing the blood in it's stool. My cat has had blood in stool, diarrhea, vomitting every once a week or so, and he had a bald patch of fur on his back. I took him in for a blood test and it revealed that he has hyperparathyroidism, which could be cancerous.
2169449 tn?1358489923 I take Zyrtec 10 mg tablet daily im allergic to my cat/ seasonal allergies etc.
Avatar f tn over the next couple weeks i started getting vertigo whenever it felt like my ear was starting to open it would last 2 hours to 10 hours, not getting any answers from my doctor, i went to the emergency rm.
Avatar f tn I was told with my first they don't develop allergies until the age of 1 or 2 yrs. I can't remember which. It's been 5 yrs ago lol. Having a cat will actually help build up their immune system.
4862685 tn?1360175651 I've noticed my cat has got some scabs behind his ears, he has just been wormed and doesn't have fleas. He's washing there a lot and when he does it makes his back legs tremble. I can't afford the vets for another couple of weeks and am wondering what the problem is and if there's anything i can do to help him until i can take him, thanks!
Avatar m tn My cat Mikku is a 3 year old male cat. I adopted him from a shelter. Initially he was weak and after vet consultation he put on weight. In the mean while he developed some boils on his neck area. Dr. advised me to apply Kiskin lotion. But eventually Mikku scratched the boils and it converted into scratch wounds. Its been 2 months now and guessing it as an infection Dr. gave a course of anti-biotic. During the course it was better but after the course again its come back to same situation.
Avatar n tn They usually relax after a while, when their systems have fully adapted to the change, unless the food gives them food allergies (vomiting is part of food allergies), in which case you would have to change the diet. Good Luck!
Avatar f tn hey guys, I'm 4 weeks pregnant and the whole time I've been getting sinus allergies from mine and my partners dogs!!
Avatar n tn When I went home I played with my cat and the allergies returned. What could have caused this and should I adopt a new cat if I somehow now have cat allergies?
Avatar m tn Greetings! My name is Tom and I suffer from severe non- food related allergies. Although they can be controlled, I find that my allergic reaction to dogs is so strong that drugs have little effect. The obvious solution is to take immunotherapy (allergy shots). However, when I contacted my allergist's secretary she said that they do no have one. I would like to rebut her claim, but in order to do so I need proof that this exists.
