Avatar n tn I have been coughing for about 7 years. I have been to 3 doctors and been on meds for post nasal drip, asthma. I had my thyroid out in Oct; because it was enlarged and closing up my trachia but that didn't help. Have had xrays and cat scans and everything looks good. It seems to coming from my throat area. sometimes i cough so hard that i almost pass out. I'm really at wits end. Any suggestions?
Avatar n tn Thay have tested her for acid refux, astma, had a cat scan, and xrays of her lungs. Still nothing they keep putting her on alot of meds, and nothing has worked. Neither of them are getting any sleep because she is up all night. Its even affecting her at school. What suggestions can you give me on what or even where to take her. Thanks This discussion is related to chronic dry cough.
Avatar n tn Although I am a smoker I had been attributing recent episodes of breathlessness with allergies. Because if my cat had been in my room and I go to bed I will awake coughing with my nostrils closed up so I would get up take Nyquil and go back to sleep. Everytime that would happen during the day if I tried to nap it would always be when the cat was lying near and during the day when the problem would arise I would take Dayquil and my nostril opens and the coughing would cease.
Avatar f tn (like fleas) can cause allergies. Not saying your cat has fleas....just saying you might want to double check :) Good Luck.
Avatar f tn Hi BillyVeronicaPepperCassidy, I have asthma too. You say that you are allergic to grass, trees and dust. Did you find that out through an allergy test ? If so, when did you go to the allergist to be tested? If it has been awhile since you were last tested, maybe it's time for another allergy test to see if you have some new allergy triggers. You also said your asthma flared up since you started taking your children to school on a daily basis.
Avatar f tn Something I hadn’t done in 12 years. Then I started to get allergies to everything. Food, cat, dog. Everything I went near I had a reaction to. Then I couldn’t be around any perfume or smells or I would get a severe asthma attack. I couldn’t go into my apartment for more than 15 minutes without coughing and my eyes itching and just being miserable. I stopped eating all yeast and sugar and ate only vegetables and protein. Still….no help. The smallest little thing would set me off.

Avatar m tn Thinking that this may just be allergies, I started taking Zyrtec. It seems to help a little, but I am still coughing. My father used to have bad allergies to our cats, and my parents think that maybe the cats are causing the problem. This seems to make some sense, except that this all started with a cold while in Minnesota, and also, remember the cats have been sick as well. They were sick before me. That led us to believe that it might be something in our apartment.
Avatar f tn For some background info I'm a 22 year old male, and I've had a cold for the past week or two (it's almost over, there's still some coughing going on but normally only during exercise), I've been drinking coffee for years with no issues, and I have seasonal allergies. Yesterday when I drank my morning coffee I felt a itch in the right side of my throat, and began coughing heavily and ended up vomiting.
Avatar n tn I have had cat allergies all my life which is a REAL bummer because I'm an animal lover and love kitties! My main symptoms? Itchy eyes. I get one cat hair near me and my eyes turn red, swell, start watering and then itch horribly. This is a common allergic reaction to cats. If it is a new cough, I'd say it's likely a virus and coughs linger with that. Once the air way is irritated, the cough will stay for a bit. But all allergies I suffer and my son involve itchiness.
Avatar m tn I take Advair for allergies, cat, moulds, dust and Dr.said i have sinus drip that causes me to cough a lot.Inhaler helped, but now i find i am losing my voice.I had a sore throat for 2 weeks, now my voice is very weak, only whisper, and some flem at back of throat at times. If i talk normal cracky and difficult for 2 weeks now.Sometimes i feel inhaler is causing my voice problems or both?
Avatar m tn I am allergic to cat, dust, moulds. As a result,i got rid of cat and still ill.I take Advair,Nasonex,Cough suppressent, cough drops and for 1.5 months now i am losing my voice to varying degrees!!!Dr.says keep taking what i do and a virus going around(that is why voice is bad)He is WRONG!! I also get an itch lower side of throat that makes me cough a lot.Is there anything to help me out there especially since i am gradually getting worse over the years and now my voice is going.
Avatar n tn Mine had all gotten URI and one started to cough; what my vet told me was as long as everything is clear, keep your cat comfy, hydrated and eating. If any mucus from nose or eyes turns yellow or green, antibiotics are needed. What he didn't say was coughing is a sign of danger and should not be ignored-one of mine started to cough but wasn't producing anything for a few days until sudddenly he coughed up a huge gob of phlegm; he had pneumonia. Happily we were abie to save him.
Avatar m tn m wheezing like crazy, coughing up mucus constantly, getting a really tight chest, and it also feels like my ribs are bruised as soon as I start coughing. Where I have moved to is also right next to a very busy 3 lane road which is making me wonder.. Is it the kitten? or the busy road? or the smoking finally catching up with me? I've changed all my bedding to anti-allergy stuff, I change the bed sheets every few days, I don't have carpet. I regulary wipe down surfaces for dust.
Avatar f tn I have such a itchy throat, and i keep coughing i hate it.. its annoying..
Avatar f tn You also might be able to find a cough suppressant OTC that is aimed directly at coughing due to post nasal drip. The allergies are so bad this year, I would bet that is what is causing your problems. I was told that doctors have seen more cases of seasonal allergies and sinus infections this year alone than they have in the last 5 years. that should tell you something.
Avatar n tn My cat has been sneezing and having nasal discharge for a month now. She has no other symptoms. She plays, she eats well. Just sneezes and has nasal drainage. Her eyes are good. No swollen or runny eyes. Is this allergies? I noticed she usually only sneezes when her nose touches objects or she sniffs. Sometimes mucous comes out with the sneeze.
Avatar n tn I am constantly coughing. People know when I am around just by hearing my cough. I do it so often, I have become used to it and carry on as if it is normal but I know that it isn't. I am fine for a while and suddenly I have to cough. Sometimes the cough turns into a fit and makes me feel like throwing up. Sometimes my eyes water, throat itches and it simply wears me out. I am convinced that I am suffering from allergies but my doctor wants to be sure that my lungs are ok.
Avatar n tn My 8 year old cat recently started coughing, not the ususal hair ball stuff, and I can hear him breath. His lung sound "wet" . I started giving him some over the counter hairball remedy and think he may have aspirated some liquid. Today is Sunday. My vet is not open today but will take him to emergency if I have to. He is drinking and eating, his gums are pink. Should I go to emergency?
Avatar f tn t know that coughing is NOT NORMAL till i took him and found out he had pneumonia. What I was told is unless your cat is coughing up a hairball, coughing is not normal; and the impaired breathing definitely sounds like something is not right-please bring your cat to the vet right away.

Avatar m tn I'm allergic and I know it! I've been allergic ever since I was a little boy and I've learned to live with that. My problem is that during the last couple of years, I seem to get more and more sensitive to the allergens that trigger my reactions, as well as more prone to have shortness of breath as a primary reaction! This year, although spring hadn't affected me so far, I happened to catch a cold (whether it was the flu, a cold or bacterial infection I don't know!
Avatar m tn I have had this for almost a year where I have been coughing almost spasm like and I feel my throat closing up, my lungs hurt, I wake up in a sweat at night. I have been to the doctor and have done various tests done but it all seems to come out clear. I am currently on steriods "predisolone". Can someone please tell me if they have had the same symptoms and suggest what might be causing it?
