Common Questions and Answers about Casodex vs lupron

casodex

Avatar f tn Hello, So good to hear from you. My husband is 72 and was at your husband's stage several years ago. Lupron and then Lupron and Casodex were very effective. He had external beam radiation when diagnosed with PCa in 1997. Went several years with normal PSA. In 2004 his PSA started to climb and then he was on Lupon intermittently and, a couple of years later, an injection every 4 months. Casodex was also added along the way.
Avatar n tn Is treatment with Lupron post Prostatectomy correct with elevated PSA or elevated testosterone? Is it either PSA or Testosterone or both? Surgeon states Gleason Scale of 8.
Avatar f tn Radical Prostatectomy January 210. Three month post-op 35.0. 1 shot Lupron along with Casodex in May 2010. Quality of life extremely diminished. Husband opted out of 2nd shot due in August 2010. Subsequent PSA's, in 3 month increments were October 0.01 ng/ml, January 2011 0.12 ng/ml. April 2011, 0.30 ng/ml. Now July 5.5. Any advice out there?
1682653 tn?1355846015 I do. My lupron cycle was too bad as i was overly supressed. With ganirelix and BCP, i will lil better and went upto pregnancy. A sad chemical pregnancy is another thing though. but yes, ganirelix seems better. good luck.
Avatar f tn 1st Lupron injection coupled with oral Casodex in May 2010. Three month PSA immeasureable. PSA results every three months as follows: Jan.2011 - 0.12, April 2011 - 0.30, July 2011 - 5.35, January 14, 2012 - 6.20. He only had the one Lupron injection because the side effects were so bad. He has been on no treatment since then. He is going for a bone scan on Wednesday. Looking for your advice. Do you think a PSA of 6.20 is of concern at this point.
731353 tn?1305045222 I stayed the whole time. Lupron prevents you from O'ing before your retrieval. I stopped Lupron after the trigger. Good luck and SSBD!
Avatar n tn Hi cherylb, I am in a very similar situation as your husband. Diagnosed w PC in early "09 with a Gleason 9 and T3 (stage diagnosis following surgery). Radical prostatectomy done June '09 and biochemical failure w 0.7 PSA 90 days after surgery (sound familiar?). I am in the process of having BOTH hormone therapy (6 mos of Lupron & Casodex) AND radiation therapy. Radiation began 30 days following start of hormone therapy at 180 units/day for 8 weeks by IMRT.
Avatar n tn how is are the girls doing within 5-8 yrs down the line once they stop this medication, are there bones strong, are they able to have a family does this affect them any way that many moms feel is it right vs not right to give this injection or should nature just do its course??
180483 tn?1229529168 Even with normal screening labs the leuprolide stim test may show indeed higher pubertal hormones indicating that her tempo is a little earlier and indeed she will do well with Lupron. I have used Lupron in many many of my patients but do go through quite a few steps before getting to that decision. There are relatively few side effects if any really. The medication is a shot and it is in the muscle so ouch! but some kids don't mind and I have used emla cream for others.
Avatar f tn For the first attempt we used Lupron, 300iu Follstim and 150iu Menopur. We had 13 eggs, 11 fertilized and only 2 were suitable for transfer, the rest showing abnormalites. Of the two, one had 3 cells and one had 4 cells, both were grade 4s, grade 1 being highest. My RE wants to try Gonal F 375 and Lupron and Menopur as before, aslo ICSI and AH. Can the change to Gonal F help improve egg quality? Can ICSI help since there is no male factor issue? Should we even be trying since I failed the CCCT?
691236 tn?1311199974 Hello :o) So I am currently going thru a ivf using ganirelix and not lupron. I will find out Wed. if it worked... keeping my fingers crossed. :o) I've read good things about it. My re says that ganirelix is supposed to replace lupron...??? I was actually worried that I wasn't doing lupron since it seemed soooo common here on this board. I also have a blocked fallopian tube and a tilted uterus, we did a few IUI's and finally moved to ivf...
374593 tn?1257879950 we are most likely going to be doing IVF in a few months and we are debating if we want to supress-- lupron vs femara... also should i have another lap done by an endo specialist to "clean" up everything before IVF?? ANY advice, experience is GREATLY appreciated!!! thanks so much!
Avatar f tn My Brother was diagnosed with prostate cancer about 9 months ago, doctors removed his testicles instead of his prostate( tumor was too big), he’s been taking casodex for the past 9 month, but the last couple of days he’s peeing blood, he also has a couple of stents in his kidney which the doctor said he didn’t need to remove because his kidneys were functioning on their own again, I’m concern, any idea what could be going on
Avatar m tn The side effects were so bad from the injection that I am not having any more.I am starting casodex 50g daily. The worst was my memory loss. How long can I expect the side effects to wear off.
605458 tn?1539228808 I was just diagnosed by laparoscopy with stage IV endometriosis, adhesions, endometriomas on both ovaries, etc. I'm betting I've been suffering from its existence long before I actually had the severe pain that sent me to the ER every time I had a period because I'd been to doctors with chronic bowel problems and distention and was diagnosed with IBS, which has very much improved since some adhesions and the cysts were taken care of during laparoscopy.
Avatar m tn He has always grown about 1-2 inches with 4 inches of growth in the past 2 years. I am very wary of Lupron which is the route his doctor wants to take. I am being pressured to make a decision because "his bones age as we speak"! He was tested for growth hormones, and he had enough with an 18 on the scale. Please help with some advice!! 631676 tn?1333718203 ) My question is, why are you on Lupron if you are trying to stimulate your follicles? Lupron supresses ovaries. When is your next cycle?
Avatar m tn Terrible side effects with Zoladex so switching to 150 casodex daily.
Avatar f tn I am producing the same # of follicles on 150 ml vs 450 ml gonal F. Has anyone experienced the same result for significantly different amount of medication? I'm no the antagonist method which means no Lupron. Can anyone suggest another method or combination of meds?
Avatar n tn t Have Radiation Again And He Wants Me To Start On Hormone Therapy Immediately. He Even Gave Me A Prescription For Casodex When I Left His Office This Past Monday. Obviously,This Needs To Be Furthered Discussed With My Oncologist Who Feels 2.5 Is Still Within The Safety Zone. I Also Need To Be Educated On Side Effects,Duration Of Treatment,Etc.
Avatar f tn As of right now we are holding off on meds. He is growing but still just a little each year. He hasn’t hit a growth spurt yet but I’m hoping he does very soon. My son is 4’6” now and I worry so much that he is not going to reach anywhere near his mid parental height. How tall is your son? We have seen an endocrinologist who thinks anastrazole would be a good way for him to get closer to his potential, but I am so scared to put him onedicines just to gain a few inches.
Avatar m tn Is your doctor wanting you to try Lupron? If so, I strongly suggest that you do your research on it first. My old gynecologist wanted me to go on it and after I did my research, I decided that definitely wasn't for me. Good luck!! We are here if you need us.
