casodex lupron

Hello, So good to hear from you. My husband is 72 and was at your husband's stage several years ago. Lupron and then Lupron and Casodex were very effective. He had external beam radiation when diagnosed with PCa in 1997. Went several years with normal PSA. In 2004 his PSA started to climb and then he was on Lupon intermittently and, a couple of years later, an injection every 4 months. Casodex was also added along the way.

Is treatment with Lupron post Prostatectomy correct with elevated PSA or elevated testosterone? Is it either PSA or Testosterone or both? Surgeon states Gleason Scale of 8.

Radical Prostatectomy January 210. Three month post-op 35.0. 1 shot Lupron along with Casodex in May 2010. Quality of life extremely diminished. Husband opted out of 2nd shot due in August 2010. Subsequent PSA's, in 3 month increments were October 0.01 ng/ml, January 2011 0.12 ng/ml. April 2011, 0.30 ng/ml. Now July 5.5. Any advice out there?

1st Lupron injection coupled with oral Casodex in May 2010. Three month PSA immeasureable. PSA results every three months as follows: Jan.2011 - 0.12, April 2011 - 0.30, July 2011 - 5.35, January 14, 2012 - 6.20. He only had the one Lupron injection because the side effects were so bad. He has been on no treatment since then. He is going for a bone scan on Wednesday. Looking for your advice. Do you think a PSA of 6.20 is of concern at this point.

My Brother was diagnosed with prostate cancer about 9 months ago, doctors removed his testicles instead of his prostate( tumor was too big), he’s been taking casodex for the past 9 month, but the last couple of days he’s peeing blood, he also has a couple of stents in his kidney which the doctor said he didn’t need to remove because his kidneys were functioning on their own again, I’m concern, any idea what could be going on

The side effects were so bad from the injection that I am not having any more.I am starting casodex 50g daily. The worst was my memory loss. How long can I expect the side effects to wear off.

Terrible side effects with Zoladex so switching to 150 casodex daily.

t Have Radiation Again And He Wants Me To Start On Hormone Therapy Immediately.He Even Gave Me A Prescription For Casodex When I Left His Office This Past Monday. Obviously,This Needs To Be Furthered Discussed With My Oncologist Who Feels 2.5 Is Still Within The Safety Zone. I Also Need To Be Educated On Side Effects,Duration Of Treatment,Etc.

Hi cherylb, I am in a very similar situation as your husband. Diagnosed w PC in early "09 with a Gleason 9 and T3 (stage diagnosis following surgery). Radical prostatectomy done June '09 and biochemical failure w 0.7 PSA 90 days after surgery (sound familiar?). I am in the process of having BOTH hormone therapy (6 mos of Lupron & Casodex) AND radiation therapy. Radiation began 30 days following start of hormone therapy at 180 units/day for 8 weeks by IMRT.

On the negative side, the beneficial effects of lupron are only temporary while taking the lupron, and one cannot take lupron for a prolonged time due to concerns about osteoporosis. Hot flushes on lupron are uncomfortable. While on lupron, you will not ovulate and therefore if you want to get pregnant you will not be able to do so while on lupron. It is a good idea to have a conversation with your doctor about the reasons for choosing lupron, and the expectations with lupron treatment.

ve ever heard of taking Lupron and HCG trigger at the same time? I guess the Lupron is suppose to help with not ovulating too many eggs. This is the first time my RE has me do Lupron and trigger together. Any information would be helpful.

I didnt ovulate on my own and I was on lupron. They use the lupron to supress your system, some women might not need this. There are many different protocols that are used in IVF.What works well for one person might not work for another. The best answer would be to ask your doctor why he is giving you certain medications and not others.

I believe RE chose the best protocol for each person. I have one cycle only have birth control without lupron, another cycle only lupron without BC, and both cycles I got about the same number of embryos and got pg but end up ectopic. This cycle, I have both BC and lupron. I stop BC on 10/31 (14 day of BC), and stop lupron last night (9 days of lupron), tonight I'm going to have follistim+menopur. ER will be arount 11/16. When is yours?

I too had endometriosis and was place on lupron. Lupron only stop your period for a while. Lupron do not help you get pregnant. after 6 months on it he may start you on fertility treatment to help you get pregnant.

my husband is 50 he underwent RP in Feb this year and is currently on anti-androgen Casodex which he is to take for 2 years.

I have same question about lupron depot. And is there any alternative treatment to help with side effects of lupron injection for treatment endo. I had surgery June 30th to remove 15cm left ovarian cyst but when they went in to remove the cyst they found endo. All over left ovary so they removed 90% of my left ovary. The surgeon suggest lupron depot. Need can help to relieve those scary side effects.

I didn't have a fibroid on a US in Dec toke 3 months of Lupron and now on a US and CT in April says I have a fibroid. I thought Lupron stops them from growing and or shirnks them? Anyone else have this?

I started lupron injections today. I have not heard anything about lupron increasing ivf success. I am not sure how extending the suppression stage of the protocol can improve success rates. I am sure it does not increase probability of implantation but I think you will have to ask an expert about lupron increasing follicle production or quality of embryos. I have not heard anything like that but then I am not a doc. I wish I could be more helpful....

Ok, so I am doing FET and I'm currently on BC and Lupron. Been on the Lupron for about 3 weeks and BC for a month. Completly skipped AF this month. We have not done anything since I started the BC. So, is it normal to skip when you are on a cycle? I tested before I started the Lupron and it was Neg, but I'm just worried because I know the damage Lupron can do to a fetus. I haven't tested because I don't know if the BC and Lupron would effect those either.

I am currently on the Lupron injection. After my first shot I was fine. My third month I started having severe cramps and had a 3 week very heavy period. That was 2 weeks ago. I got my 2 shot on Friday and I am having more severe cramps and I started my period again yesterday. Does this mean that the shot isn't working? I am starting my 4th month.
