Avatar n tn The Beta Blocker Bystolic is to reduce the high blood pressure and the doctor feels that this alone is not enough so has prescribed the Carvedilol which is also a beta blocker to help reduce the blood pressure and for your problem. You should ask the question to your doctor so that he can explain the reasons for putting you on these medications.
Avatar m tn It works by relaxing blood vessels and slowing heart rate to improve blood flow and decrease blood pressure"
Avatar m tn 80/45 is really too low. Now I see its the medication really affects the blood pressure. Yes, I think the dosage is really high, she's going to see her doctor about that. I notice she is always tired and feels very fatigue very day, so that's why. I'm going to have her monitor her blood pressure more often. Thanks for the replies.
Avatar n tn Do you have any chronic tooth infections (if you have had root canals in the past they can get infected without you knowing it) or gum/mouth infections or any others in your body? That can cause high blood pressure from what I read. I think that's why my BP is so high, as I'm a healthy weight/height, don't smoke or drink and mine's usually between 160/90 to 200/98 and I'm not on any drugs. Hope this might help.
475570 tn?1280941363 Who Is More Likely to Develop High Blood Pressure? People with family members who have high blood pressure, smoke, overweight, not active, alcohol to excess, and people who eat too many fatty foods or foods with too much salt...reduce your blood pressure risk and medication.
1210142 tn?1266077031 My BP became higher- between 131 and 146 over 89/92 so the dizziness is definetely not because of the law blood pressure. Carvedilol is the one giving me problems so I wanted to find out: since I had MI but not heart failure- is is absolutely necessary to take beta blockers? One of the doctors ordered renin test and the results came today quite high- 28.2, the ratio though is ok.
Avatar m tn I just had an ablation done to repair a sustained ventricular tachycardia, the procedure was succesful however i've had high blood preassure ever since they did the procedure two days ago. i'm taking hydralazine and carvedilol, last reading was 163 /106 i've heard other people complaining about high blood preassure after an ablation, is this normal ? i really don/t want to be taking meds forever.
Avatar f tn My platelets run in a 2 digit right now they are 47 so they are pretty low. My blood pressure is never high either, the blood pressure meds that I take at the moment are to help with my kidneys. I am going to call the doctor and get a better explanation .
Avatar m tn When a person has heart disease, the blood pressure needs to remain low. Your mom's blood pressure is not too low. As her blood builds back to where it should be, she may see an increase in her blood pressure. The main thing with heart disease is to keep the pressure down. Normal for an average person is 120/72. Doctors usually want it lower in people with heart disease. Her medications are needed to help her live a longer lifespan.
Avatar m tn From your description, it is evident that you had mild reduction in the pumping ability of your heart that was probably secondary to the high blood pressure. I would like to explain that the heart has to pump blood against the pressure of blood in the blood vessels. Therefore, when the BP is high, the heart has to do extra work in pumping the same amount of blood. When the muscle can take no more, it fails.
Avatar m tn I'm a 31 year old male with high blood pressure, anxiety, and a few recorded PVCs. I recently had a stress test with some ST depressions, which the cardiologists suspected as a false positive. Nonetheless, to be on the safe side I was given a nuclear stress test - everything turned out just fine, my cardiologist said my heart is perfectly normal. The only problem was the high heart rate - when I went to get on the treadmill my heart rate jumped from 90 bpm to 145 bpm.
907968 tn?1292622204 Your doctor should slowly lower your dose over several weeks if you need to stop taking it. This should be done even if you only take Carvedilol Extended-Release Capsules for high blood pressure. Heart disease is common and you may not know you have it. Limit physical activity while you are lowering your dose. If new or worsened chest pain or other heart problems occur, contact your doctor right away. You may need to start taking Carvedilol Extended-Release Capsules again.
406399 tn?1201884300 They switched me to Carvedilol (Coreg) for a while, before taking me off that as well. But I did not have high blood pressure, which can be dangerous if untreated. I had much less side effects on that Beta Blocker (the Coreg), but it's still a beta blocker. And even so, it might not be the best one for you. I think toprol, of all the betas probably has the most side effects. Keep pushing your docs, there are other beta blockers with less side effects.
Avatar f tn A family member has just started taking Lisinopril for high blood pressure, and has had trouble sleeping. Should the medication be taken in the morning instead of evening? Or does it vary, depending on the person.
Avatar n tn This is a beta / alpha blocker combination. Since starting it, heart rate and blood pressure has stayed pretty consistent.
Avatar f tn About 7 years ago, I had an enlarged Left Ventrical ischemia (vessel blood flow reduced) and high blood pressure that overworked the heart. Therapy was/is medication to increase the blood flow by reducing blood pressure, and an RCA vessel implant increased blood flow to an area deficit of blood supply Relevant consideration depends on a history of excessive alcohol consumption and the absence of any other known cause of cardiomyopathy.
Avatar m tn iv had 9 doctors already - not one of them knew the real cause of high blood pressure ,or what caused the spikes I had. Iv talked to meny natural health people about h.b.p , they say they know the reason for it, and cause of it ? well I was sold 3 $$$ items natural meds to take daily to bring down b.p. I got sick from the stuff - b.p didnt drop at all . worse part, I called the store and the person who sold the bag of goods was gone ! talk is cheap ! I learned again ..
1210142 tn?1266077031 Stopped Lisinopril for a little bit and felt much better- unfortunately my blood pressure went a little up. Then my PCP substitute it for Losartan- have been taking this drug/25 mg/ for a week and feel extremely dizzy and nauseated. The cardiologist suggested to cut Carvbedilol in half/so now I am taking 3.125 twice a day instead of 6.25 and my chest pain almost disapear. I don't know if Losartan can cause this or just switching drugs my body needs more time...?
Avatar m tn Your BNP is low/normal, suggesting your heart is not overloaded with fluid and the intracardiac pressures are not too high. Your medications may relieve some of the pressure in your heart causing the BNP to be within normal limits, but they will not falsely lower it.
Avatar m tn Depending on your age this might be an excellent echo, or may have some things such as mild LVH which merit watching over time. I imagine based on this echo that you have high blood pressure that needs a bit better control. But based on this echo alone, you are not in any imminent danger. Hope this helps.
