Avatar m tn That said, carvedilol lowers blood pressure, sometimes to an extreme. Were you taking carvedilol when your heart rate went to 150? After being off carvedilol, what is your blood pressure, and did your heart rate change after being off the drug? I'd ask your doctor if you should have a nuclear stress test to look for a blockage in your heart arteries, and/or a heart echo to look at valves, etc.
907968 tn?1292622204 Since both started getting bad about the same time and just shortly after starting Carvedilol I can easily make the connection. However, they could be unrelated to carvedilol and the timing could be a coincidence. Before I make an appointment to have a chat with my Dr. I'd like to hear from anyone that has had these symptom and that were known to be directly connected to carvedilol. Assuming there are none here, Does anyone have any info to share about these?
Avatar f tn I'm 76 years old was diagnosed with CHF in February of 2009. I am being treated by a good cardiologist. My ejection rate is 34% and I hope increasing all the time. It was 20% in February at my initial diagnosis. I'm taking carvedilol, lisinopril, digoxin, medication for my cholesterol and diabetes 2 and also aspirin and cod liver oil . I would like to continue with my exercise program and don't know if it's allowed. It's not hard, just walking.
Avatar m tn I am active and with high a normal BMI of 25 No problem walking a fast mile or with light exercise. My LVEF was 50% right after MI and 45% 2 months later. due for another echo in 2 months. my lipids are under control - LDL < 70 and TC < 140, with or without the 10 mg pravastatin I am prescribed as I eat mostly a quality plant based diet, low in fats and simple carbs.. My question has to do with drugs. I will come off effient eventually and stay on a low dose aspirin.
Avatar m tn 5 weeks ago I had a mild heart attack and received a stent in the one veinous graft (the 3 arterial grafts were perfectly clear). I have been placed on plavix and 6.25mg 2x/day of carvedilol - and the side effects of carvedilol is my concern. First is the feeling of lightheadedness, which was severe at first, but still remains.
Avatar f tn If the patient has idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy, drug named as carvedilol usually helps the patients. Carvedilol is originally a blood-pressure-lowering drug. But, this is very effective on the hearts with idiopathic cardiomyopathy. I think your hasband may have this type of disease from statistical knowledge. If the heart function does not recover after these treatment, you can consider the use of a heart-failure-treatning pacemaker (cardiac resynchronization therapy).
Avatar m tn To help with anxiety, my cardiologist took me off an ACE inhibitor and put me on 12.5 mg of carvedilol twice a day, in addition to 12.5 mg HCTZ. I overcame my anxiety issues with exercise and have been running 3 miles a day for the last six months. I recently had palpitations after running. I went to see the cardiologist just to be on the safe side. He heard a slight murmur, which was new, so he ordered another echo. He decided to put me back on the treadmill. The stress test was normal.
Avatar n tn Well, I think you are expected to take the medication every morning and the idea is for it to protect your heart, from over working. I would take it as soon as you wake up each morning, whether you are going to exercise or not.
Avatar m tn 1 mile a day walking at a good pace and exercise a bit besides (no problem with exercise), and except for sleep issues and a bit of mental stress, seem to be doing OK. Two to three months ago I noticed that my swallowing seemed to be changing - very noticeable when I swallow saliva and when taking pills, which has became a bit more difficult.
Avatar m tn My dad was recently diagnosed with CHF and was given Carvedilol. He is taking 12.5 mg twice a day. His blood pressure is well controlled now that he is on the pill, but there have been 3 times when his blood pressure drops way too low and he feels like fainting. Is that normal? How long does it usually take to get used to the drug?
Avatar m tn First observation I know is correct, Coreg and Carvedilol are the exact same drug, except Carvedilol is the generic form of Coreg. Increasing the combination would mean over 120mg, an unheard of dosage. You are already taking a gorilla dose and that can cause a drop of EF in my opinion. EF ratings fluctuate. I'd ask for a BNP test that is used to determine the level of CHF one has. Usually less than 100 indicates no CHF.
Avatar m tn I am on 6.25 mg carvedilol twice a day. I am not physically restricted - I walk 1 mile or more day and do 10 minutes of other light exercises most days. My BP runs under 120/80 most of the time. I understand carvedilol helps prevent stiffening of the heart muscle and can help restore LV function to some degree. How specially, so it do this? What is the biochemical mechanism?
Avatar f tn My LVEF changed from 67% prior to treatment, to 60% to 50%. I am on beta blockers (Carvedilol) and have suspended Herceptin. I want to be pro-active restoring what I can of my heart capacity. What are the excercise recommendations under these conditions. I've been doing strength and resistence training 3 days a week for the last 4 months (to regain muscle strength, etc. lost during cancer treatment). Can I and should I do cardio training as well?
Avatar n tn Hi, I was recently diagnosed with cardiomyopathy with severe biventricular dysfunction three months ago. On cardiac mri, My EF was 30. Lvedd was 7.3 and lveds was 6.5. Now after three months, with transthoracic echocardiogram EF is still 25 -30. Lvidd 6.1 cm and lvids 4.96cm. All other measurements are in range. There is no scarring, fibrosis, blockage or stenosis. My doc advices me to go for icd, I have no symptoms. I haven't started my exercise routine yet.

Avatar m tn The side effects from the metoprolol have gotten a little better, though as I type this my heart rate is 52 bpm. Does any one have any comments on the pros and cons of carvedilol versus metoprolol? I'm not sure I want to switch if the side effects will be the same. Does anyone have experience with metoprolol? How long do the side effects last?
Avatar n tn hello Doctors/ Experts, may i ask what are the common side effects when taking beta blockers (carvedilol)? i am taking just 12.5mg daily and i feel some irregularities like palps, fatigue, headaches, dizzy. i am not sure if these are side effects. im 24yo and dont smoke or drink but having a bp of 140/100. then down to 120/80 when taking 12.5mg carv daily. thank you for the knowledge.
1210142 tn?1266077031 I am currently on Plavix, Aspirin, Simvastatin, Lisinopril and Carvedilol/Coreg/. Stopped Lisinopril for a little bit and felt much better- unfortunately my blood pressure went a little up. Then my PCP substitute it for Losartan- have been taking this drug/25 mg/ for a week and feel extremely dizzy and nauseated. The cardiologist suggested to cut Carvbedilol in half/so now I am taking 3.125 twice a day instead of 6.25 and my chest pain almost disapear.
Avatar m tn In the nterval I had follwwed all medications - carvedilol, statin, aspirin etc, diet, hard exercise. But my DD deteriorated. One cardio said it's age (83) and/or genes - like it's the luck of the draw howver strict you follow orders. So ask hard and insistently, if I were you and let's know please.
Avatar f tn I was put on carvedilol, after covid, when I developed heart palpitations. After all the tests were done, they didn't find anything wrong. My doctor told me to stop carvedilol. So I did what he told me. And it has been an awful 3 weeks. I asked if I was having withdrawals from this medicine, He didn't think so or if I was it wouldn't last long. I know that the medicine is out of my system but has my body had time to readjust from it? I was taking 12.5 2X a day for 5 weeks.
Avatar m tn I have recently been prescribed Amlodipine-Benaz 5/10 MG capsules for treatment of hypertension. However, my resting pulse rate has consistently been in the 90's and increasing into the 100's at time, so I have been prescribed Carvedilol to help control the heart rate. My question is, doesn't Carvedilol control hypertension as well...Why should I be taking carvedilol in addition to amliodipine?
Avatar n tn The doc allowed me to cut the 20mg tablet in half until our next apt at which time he prescribed Carvedilol 25 mg twice a day. Anyone have any insight as to why he might have done that? Particularly since the 10mg Bystolic tablets seemed to be the “sweet spot” in terms of tolerability. And the Bystolic worked very well for my BP. I am a 41 year old male.
Avatar f tn Hi Me967- What is strange is that I have never had hypertension and I am not an insulin dependent diabetic. I was given Carvedilol, Micardis, and Spironocatone what my cardiologist is attempting to do is to slow my heart rate down but meds for slowing down my heart rate also lowers my already low normal blood pressure and then dizziness occurs. My PCP, my OB/GYN and my Opthalmologist are all alarmed but my cardiologist is not, so I guess I have to look for another cardiologist.
