It normally takes 3-4 weeks to get used to the medication, anyway, if his body behaves like mine, days of low BP can appear at any moment .... I am on the same dose of it for more than 4 years and right now I am having days in 80/40 range, but I am in a lot of other medications.

Carvedilol belongs to a class of drugs called beta blockers. It is responsible for inhibition of beta receptors present ubiquitously on the heart muscle. By blocking these receptors, it helps prevent the effects of adrenaline/noradrenaline on the heart thereby maintaining a low heart rate and reducing the energy expended by the heart per beat.
You were true about Carvedilol,since this medication shows inotropic effects (directly acts on smooth muscle) which may decrease its potential to worsen symptoms of heart failure.It is used as main stay drug in management of CHF in selective cases or as an adjunct to conventional treatments (ACE inhibitors and diuretics).It is a both Beta1&2 and Alpha 1 blocker.
EKG taken by cardiologist as precation was normal. Cardiologist is having me drop Cardizem LA (180 mg) for Carvedilol (6.25mg 2x per day). Any reason to think this change could trigger arythmia or something else really kooky? I am told this is an excellent medication and typically very well tolerated. I tried Toprol XL before for several months. Did not tolerate it well, mainly due to severe nightmares. Once removed from the Toprol, nightmares stopped.
That said, carvedilol lowers blood pressure, sometimes to an extreme. Were you taking carvedilol when your heart rate went to 150? After being off carvedilol, what is your blood pressure, and did your heart rate change after being off the drug?
I'd ask your doctor if you should have a nuclear stress test to look for a blockage in your heart arteries, and/or a heart echo to look at valves, etc.
I understand that some studies show long term benefit for patients like me but these are people on normal diets (much higher in saturated fats and much lower in many nutrients) and who are likely not as active as I am. I would like to be drug free to the extent possible and would like to understand what markers are important to a cardiologist in setting a drug regime.
First observation I know is correct, Coreg and Carvedilol are the exact same drug, except Carvedilol is the generic form of Coreg. Increasing the combination would mean over 120mg, an unheard of dosage. You are already taking a gorilla dose and that can cause a drop of EF in my opinion. EF ratings fluctuate. I'd ask for a BNP test that is used to determine the level of CHF one has. Usually less than 100 indicates no CHF.
I have recently been prescribed Amlodipine-Benaz 5/10 MG capsules for treatment of hypertension. However, my resting pulse rate has consistently been in the 90's and increasing into the 100's at time, so I have been prescribed Carvedilol to help control the heart rate. My question is, doesn't Carvedilol control hypertension as well...Why should I be taking carvedilol in addition to amliodipine?
I had SEVEN HOURS of tachycardia, at rest in bed, with pulse from 120 to 100. Then six hours more until it dropped to the 60's where it is usually maintained by Carvedilol. BP ranged from 147/71 88 to 130/66 93 to normal125/64 65.

If the patient has idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy, drug named as carvedilol usually helps the patients. Carvedilol is originally a blood-pressure-lowering drug. Both are important medications for those who have suffered a heart attack and undergone stenting. In addition to these medications, you should be on some sort of lipid medication (a "statin" such as atorvastatin, pravastatin, rosuvasatin, lovastatin, etc).

I started taking Metoprolol er a month ago for tachycardia. I take 25mg daily. My BP was not an issue. The med now is not bringing my heart rate down any where near as well as it was in the beginning. When I first took the drug my heart rate was in the 50s ....now its averaging in a 24hr period about 15 bpms higher thank before. What is going on ? Something doesn't make sense ? Why is this happening ? I do not feel anxious. The metoprolol is not working as well.
The side effects from the metoprolol have gotten a little better, though as I type this my heart rate is 52 bpm. Does any one have any comments on the pros and cons of carvedilol versus metoprolol? I'm not sure I want to switch if the side effects will be the same. Does anyone have experience with metoprolol? How long do the side effects last?

To help with anxiety, my cardiologist took me off an ACE inhibitor and put me on 12.5 mg of carvedilol twice a day, in addition to 12.5 mg HCTZ. I overcame my anxiety issues with exercise and have been running 3 miles a day for the last six months. I recently had palpitations after running. I went to see the cardiologist just to be on the safe side. He heard a slight murmur, which was new, so he ordered another echo. He decided to put me back on the treadmill. The stress test was normal.

may i ask what are the common side effects when taking beta blockers (carvedilol)? i am taking just 12.5mg daily and i feel some irregularities like palps, fatigue, headaches, dizzy. i am not sure if these are side effects. im 24yo and dont smoke or drink but having a bp of 140/100. then down to 120/80 when taking 12.5mg carv daily. thank you for the knowledge.
Hello; I have got one coronary DES stent implanted since two month ago ("Endeavor RESOLUTE RX"). I am on clopidogrel, aspirin, atorvastatin, carvedilol, enalapril and pantoprazol. Fearing about scars growing inside the stent's mesh, I have read that some people recommend vitamin E for cosmetic appearance of scars; well, my question is: Could vitamin E be of some help for preventing "in-stent restenosis"? Is it worth trying? Thanks!
I was put on carvedilol, after covid, when I developed heart palpitations. After all the tests were done, they didn't find anything wrong. My doctor told me to stop carvedilol. So I did what he told me. And it has been an awful
3 weeks. I asked if I was having withdrawals from this medicine, He didn't think so or if I was it wouldn't last long. I know that the medicine is out of my system but has my body had time to readjust from it? I was taking 12.5 2X a day for 5 weeks.
