Avatar f tn I saw my OB/Gyn today for the first time and he has told me that he wants me to go onto Labetalol 100mg a day during my pregnancy because Atenolol can stunt the growth of the baby later in pregnancy. I would appreciate any advice anyone can give me about Labetalol, like for example do I just start taking them instead of Atenolol or what? Are the affects the same as Atenolol?
Avatar f tn I got high blood pressure right after my first child came out. Was put on Labetalol and Methyldopa. Now with this pregnancy I've bern on same meds and blood pressure has been a consistent 118/80. Baby is coming in 2 days!!
Avatar m tn I quit taking carvedilol and my statin as I thought I had my heart problems knocked, and soon afterwards, even though my cholesterol, diabetes and weight was normal, I had to have six more stents, a pacemaker, and eventually bypass surgery. Today at age 72 I'm back taking the drugs, but I also have Congestive Heart Failure, and believe me, taking carvedilol and Plavix was much easier. I have to sleep in a chair because my lungs fill with water.
Avatar f tn I was on nifedipine and labetalol with my first as my blood pressure was ridiculously high and going up every appointment (170/140 when I had my csection). This time ive just been on labetalol because it was over 160/90 for over 2wks. But both pregnancies I've been battling preeclamplsia.
170935 tn?1225371076 I find the bisoprolol very useful and easy to take is labetalol similar? As for my bp it is naturally low 90/60 and hope it doesn't lower it too much!
Avatar f tn I have28 days to go and Wednesday was put on Labetalol for the rest of my pregnancy.
Avatar m tn My dad was recently diagnosed with CHF and was given Carvedilol. He is taking 12.5 mg twice a day. His blood pressure is well controlled now that he is on the pill, but there have been 3 times when his blood pressure drops way too low and he feels like fainting. Is that normal? How long does it usually take to get used to the drug?
Avatar f tn I developed hypertension after she was born and was put on 200 mg Labetalol twice a day. It did what it was supposed to do, however I also developed post partum anxiety/depression and was put on Escitalopram, Alprazolam (as needed) and klonopin (1mg) at night only. The side effects of the labetalol for me were awful, so once my readings got better, I weaned off of it and am now not taking anything for Bp which usually stays in a good range (120-135 over 78-85).
907968 tn?1292622204 Since both started getting bad about the same time and just shortly after starting Carvedilol I can easily make the connection. However, they could be unrelated to carvedilol and the timing could be a coincidence. Before I make an appointment to have a chat with my Dr. I'd like to hear from anyone that has had these symptom and that were known to be directly connected to carvedilol. Assuming there are none here, Does anyone have any info to share about these?
Avatar m tn I am on 6.25 mg carvedilol twice a day. I am not physically restricted - I walk 1 mile or more day and do 10 minutes of other light exercises most days. My BP runs under 120/80 most of the time. I understand carvedilol helps prevent stiffening of the heart muscle and can help restore LV function to some degree. How specially, so it do this? What is the biochemical mechanism?
Avatar n tn Now, I am off the BCP, had a holter monitor (ok put PVCs and PACs), and put back on Labetalol only 100mg a day. My feet feel terrible, they feel sore, like overheated, and I have had some swelling. I have water retention in my abdomen, and it will not go down for anything. My dr thinks it is sleep apnea, but I doubt it. This just started this year- I think the Labetalol could cause some of this.
Avatar m tn It recently dropped to 80 over 51 and the doctor took me off of my carvedilol for 2 weeks and said to monitor my blood pressure and call in two weeks. It has been 2 weeks now. I do not know what my heart rate should be at normal and at exertion. I live in a quad level and go up and down a lot of steps to do laundry. I get winded very easily. I want to feel better.
Avatar f tn I have just been prescribed Spironolactone 25mg and Carvedilol 6.25.

Avatar f tn lol trust me natural progesterone will make your husband like a 20 year old man with his sex drive and its cheap with not one side effect and can take with his heart meds i think being as your body makes progesterone male and female so substituting with more progesterone is safe.
Avatar m tn She also takes a high dosage of Lisinopril and Carvedilol and it seems like she is getting weaker at times. The dosage for Lisinopril is 40mg and 25mg for Carvedilol She has been taking this medication for almost 2 years now, but now she has become weaker and is more nervous now, have anxiety attacks. Is the dosage too high? Or is there anyway to reduce the side effects of the medication?? Thanks...
Avatar f tn I've had preeclamplsia with both of my pregmancies and been on labetalol and nifedipine. This baby is so far fine and my son is a very happy healthy toddler. I believe I got as far as I did in my pregnancies thanks to these medications so would definitely recommend taking them for baby's sake.
Avatar n tn hello Doctors/ Experts, may i ask what are the common side effects when taking beta blockers (carvedilol)? i am taking just 12.5mg daily and i feel some irregularities like palps, fatigue, headaches, dizzy. i am not sure if these are side effects. im 24yo and dont smoke or drink but having a bp of 140/100. then down to 120/80 when taking 12.5mg carv daily. thank you for the knowledge.
9070037 tn?1414632966 I had gestational hypertension and then severe preeclamplsia with my first and preeclamplsia with this one. Your dr will be keeping an eye on you and probably already considers you high risk (just meaning you need extra monitoring). I've been on labetalol both pregnancies. I was told there are only two bp meds safe where I am during pregnancy and the other one makea me sick. Talk to your dr about your concerns and his plan for you.
Avatar m tn 2 x 2 early 2013, so I have been on this dose of carvedilol for quite a while.. will be seeing and ear throat specialist and my cardiologist next week and discussing the swallowing issues and the new tinnitus sounds which could be related... will post what I learn.
Avatar f tn i have chronic hypertension and i'm currently taking labetalol 3x a day.. it s a category c and i heard its not safe in first trimester but okay in other trimesters.
1210142 tn?1266077031 I am currently on Plavix, Aspirin, Simvastatin, Lisinopril and Carvedilol/Coreg/. Stopped Lisinopril for a little bit and felt much better- unfortunately my blood pressure went a little up. Then my PCP substitute it for Losartan- have been taking this drug/25 mg/ for a week and feel extremely dizzy and nauseated. The cardiologist suggested to cut Carvbedilol in half/so now I am taking 3.125 twice a day instead of 6.25 and my chest pain almost disapear.
Avatar m tn Lisinopril and Carvedilol are blood pressure medications (lisinopril is an ACE inhibitor, Carvedilol is a beta blocker) and should not have any effect on your lipid profile. Both are important medications for those who have suffered a heart attack and undergone stenting. In addition to these medications, you should be on some sort of lipid medication (a "statin" such as atorvastatin, pravastatin, rosuvasatin, lovastatin, etc).
Avatar n tn g., the intestines and stomach) and plavix helps prevent clotting and execessive bleeding can be a serious event with the interaction of alcohol and plavix. Hope this helps.
