Avatar n tn He then suggested going for a treadmill stress test which I did today. I got my heart rate up to the required 160 bpm with no pain etc. The results of the stress test were "normal". I am now reading that stress tests in woman very often given false negative results. I don't have high bp, or high chlosterol, I am overweight and wroking on getting it down, no diabetis etc. Realistically no risk factors.

1822306 tn?1330522629 I have had all bloodwork, sonogram, and biopsy. The nurse forgot to make an apt last month for a stress test the Hepa ordered so now it will be another month before the Cardiologist can see me. My question is: Does everyone have a stress test before starting treatment? I am 56 and in good health, weight, and somewhat athletic. Is a stress test necessary? I am Genotype 2b; I only have to do six months SOC and was hoping to finish treatment before summer.
Avatar m tn My primary care physician is sending me for a cardiac stress test. I was debating on whether I should ask for a cardiopulmonary stress test instead. I have difficulty breathing and shortness of breath. Also, I have low blood oxygen (High Hemoglobin and High Hematocrit) and low carbon dioxide. I know the cardiopulmonary stress test measures gas exchange during exercise. I just don't want to have to do both tests at some point, if there is nothing wrong with my heart.
Avatar f tn When using EKG and blood pressure monitoring alone the test is variously called a cardiac stress test, exercise stress test, exercise treadmill test, exercise tolerance test, stress test or exercise ECG test. Heart rate, breathing, blood pressure, EKG, and how tired you feel are monitored during the test.
862553 tn?1239060736 Of course i had the ct with my heart at rest before the stress test and then after the stress test... But am wondering what you would think is possibly going on. Avatar n tn I experienced relief from my chronic active epstein barr virus symptoms after a cardiac stress test. I was injected with 10.6 mCi Myoview and Lexiscan 0.4 mg. My symptoms disappeared for five days and now are back. I have suffered with CAEBV for three years now. DESPERATE FOR A CURE. Any help would be appreciated.
Avatar n tn My mother recently completed a cardiac stress test on a treadmill in which she was taken to an extremely high level of endurance. When she reached her max, and was ready to stop, her cardiologist asked for an additional minute - which she did give. Following the treadmill exercise she was tested as normal and was eventually released. When she emerged from the test center, the whole left side of her face was distorted and sagging - like she had experienced a T.I.A. (mini stroke).
Avatar n tn I do have trouble managing my weight (200 lbs at 5 ft 6 in) but my blood pressure and cholesterol have always been very good. I discussed this with my doctor again in January and she ordered a cardiac stress test with the echo. I was surprised to find that I failed the test. Conclusions: "Borderline hypokinesis mid & apical lateral segments. Echocardiographic evidence of ischemia. Exercise stress test without ECG evidence of ischemia. Abnormal regional wall motion with stress.
Avatar n tn hello got a stent 2months ago for 100% mid-lad blockage. nuclear stress test prior to intervention noted 'large inferior apical wall perfusion defect most consistent w/ diaphragmatic attenuation artifact'. exercise was good, ef was 56% and my symptoms overall were mild.
Avatar n tn I had a thalium stress test yesterday...I have a ten month old child at home..how long before the radiation leaves my body so I know it is safe to handle my child...I work in a hospital and radiation silent alarm went off today so Im assuming its still pretty high. I had the test at 1pm yesterday...is it s still very strong and should I be worried about exposing it to my family?? This discussion is related to Thalium.
Avatar f tn But I found out it was from anxiety (once I had the ekg/ecg, stress test, breathing test done). Anxiety is pretty common in young women it seems, so that may be something you want to look into.
Avatar f tn My husband is 66 and recently had a SPECT Myocardial Perfusion Imaging Study (stress test). It was essentially normal, with the exception of the following: "there is a moderate sized reversible defect of the inferior and apical walls". The left ventricle was normal in size and the ejection fractions were 57% at rest and 63% post stress. The internet resources suggest that such a defect could be indicative of a prior silent heart attack. Is this true?
Avatar n tn I have had no pain, or shortness of breath. The stress test was ordered, because I was on medication for Afib. That was what had put me in the hospital. Even then I had no chest pain, only a feeling of flutter. I don't know what to think. The local hospital, is a for profit hospital.( HCA ) as are hospitals in this area. They had said that further admittance was dependent upon my ability to pay, or medical insurance. I had been dropped, for a pre-existing condition.
Avatar m tn I'm 25 yrs old, male, with a high stress financial call center job. I am physically fit and work out regularly. During the day, I'm experiencing occasional sharp, left side chest pain. They go away at the end of the day after all the stressors are gone. This stress is not going to go away. I will be checking in with the doc next week. Any other advise?
976897 tn?1379167602 Also, I do not think most women are aware of the fact that heart disease is the number 1 killer of women. With so much emphasis put on breast cancer, the problem with heart disease is not of any worry to most women. After raising 4 kids with a full time job and a husband that worked many years out of town, I am now raising 3 young grandchildren with a full time job.
715004 tn?1309077280 I started getting chest pains a few months ago when I was under bit of stress. I had an upper GI series and it was negative for GERD. I was given nitroglycerin to see if that would help the chest pains. It did. Now, I was just put on a beta blocker, nebivolol (or something like that) for a rapid heart rate, and a high BP reading at the time. My BP is usually fine. I had an echocardiogram and everything was fine. Here's the confusion...
712042 tn?1254569209 I'm on a mission to get this word out. I had a cardiac arrest in May 2008. I'm ok now but not fine. I did not have any disease in my heart ( no heart attack, no clot, no valve problem, no stent to place or vessel to by-pass) but a rather new to medicine diagnosis of severe cardiac endothelial microvascular dysfunction otherwise know as cardiac syndrome X.
Avatar n tn I recently had an abnormal thallium test showing inferior-apical ischemia. Calcium score was zero. My cardiologist considers the thallium test a false positive. I also have an unrelated arrythmia (pvc's) for the past 10 years controlled with atenolol. I am considered high risk for cardiac cath due to the arrythmia. In addition I have mild plaque in both carotid arteries.
Avatar m tn Ok I had a nuclear and regular stress test seems I have different stories.here are some results..says LEFT VENTRICULAR is slightly dilated ??
