Avatar m tn To control blood sugar you will need to control the types and amounts of carbohydrate eaten. Definitely you will need to avoid sugar and sugary and very starchy foods. All meals should have protein, fat, and some carbs (preferably complex carbs which digest slowly). You will also need to control how much you eat, and it will be much better to have small meals and a few healthy snacks. Fruit juice, sweetened drinks and sodas should be avoided.
Avatar f tn How do you eat less carbs for breakfast? I can't seem to get away from bad carbs at breakfast.
Avatar f tn I have that problem also and it took me a while to figure it out. When I eat mexican or chinese food those carbs take a long time to get in your blood. So the insulin was getting in my blood before the carbs and caused me lows. Then I would eat something or drink juice and later on my sugar would be high because of those slow carbs that finally made it to my blood. What I do know is take some insulin and 2 hours later take some more.

Avatar n tn Don't beat yourself up too badly over it, I'm in the same boat as you... I don't really overeat, and the things that I do eat, I think out and try to make healthy meals, but I still ended up with gestational diabetes. Unfortunately, it's just something that happens because of all of the weird things that happen in pregnancy. I've learned to just go with it... That being said, I was advised to count how many grams of carbs that I take in and what foods contain them.

Avatar m tn Changing lifestyle habits can go a long way in controlling type 2 diabetes. 4569680 tn?1359580401 I believe that carbohydrates are an unnatural food source for humans. We were intended to eat meats, eggs, vegetables, nuts and berries. Carbs should be a rare, seasonal treat; things like honey, and fruits. Instead we literally bathe ourselves in carbs. take for instance a tall glass of natural orange juice. How many oranges go into that glass; 6, 8, possibly more. It's too much of a good thing. I could go on and on.....
