Carbs per gram of sugar

Common Questions and Answers about Carbs per gram of sugar

carb

Avatar n tn It happens when you eat very high protein with little fat and low carb. Try to not go over 1 gram protein per pound of lean body mass. For example, a person who weighs 150 lbs should limit to 150 grams protein per day. Also do not shy away from healthy fats, like olive oil, avocado, grass fed butter, nuts, full fat yogurt, etc. many people make the mistake of removing fats from their low carb diet, which then causes gluconeogenesis.
269786 tn?1243793707 What have you tried to do to get off of sugar? Are you meaning you are trying to get off of simple carbs? Have you ever read Sugar Busters (wondering because of the title of your post)?
362249 tn?1441315018 therefore, if you have something that has, say, 26 grams total carbs, with 25 grams of sugar and 1 gram of fiber, it would be best to pass that up - none of us (whether diabetic or not) needs that much sugar. Other simple carbs are turned to sugar fairly quickly also - that includes white bread, chips, pastries made with white flour, white rice, etc.
7894272 tn?1395206727 There are three types of carbs.(fiber, starch, and sugar) All carbs are four calories per gram, but sugar holds no nutritional value, so if you consume a lot of sugar you may meet your caloric(energy) needs, but your body is still starving for nutrients and as a result you consume more and add the calorie surplus to your reserves. (fat) So, in my opinion, if you're trying to use your reserves, it's important that you try and avoid high sugar intake, but the other carbs are fine.
193609 tn?1292180293 What is the recommended number of carbs to eat per day? I am using a calorie counter and I am good there, but not sure how many carbs per day will equal weight loss??? Thanks!
Avatar n tn --- Carbs also have 4 calories per gram and only about 6% of calories from carbs are lost due to heat/metabolism. --- This creates a caloric differential of 19% !!! By switching to let's say to food items with higher protein value and lower carb value, without increasing fat intake much, you will easily create a calorie deficit. If your weight is 50 kilograms, you can go up to 50 kg x 1.5 grams/per kg = 75 gr of protein daily maximum.
Avatar f tn Did this person tell you to cut all carbs, or just simple carbs? Vegetables are carbs. Fruit are carbs. Whole grains are carbs. Beans are a combination of protein and carbs. I think what most would advise is to avoid white flour, bagels, sweets, anything that turns to sugar quickly in your system. That's why you're craving sugar -- carbs are necessary for energy, and sugar is quick energy but also stores as fat if not burned immediately. Same with processed carbs.
1157811 tn?1263831494 I love bread, but also know that they are source of a load of carbs, sugars and empty calories. So, again, what is a healthy amount of carbs per day and in what for are the carbs best consumed? Thanks in advance for any help!
Avatar n tn I am 32 wks and with gest. diabetes and I have not gain any weight and now in last two weeks have been losing weight. I'm so hungry but can't eat a lot of carbs and now my calories are no where near close where they should be but if I eat more my sugar gos up. last pregnancy I did the diet and it worked this time I think I going have to do the insulin. my question is there any food that I missing thats has litle to no carbs but will have calorie intake to help stay at least at 1500.
Avatar n tn Highly insulinogenic foods are simple carbs and ultra high protein without any fat. By eating moderate level of protein (0.5 grams to 1 gram protein per pound of lean body mass) and avoid the "white stuff" as in flour, rice, pasta, sugar, etc, which will create high spike in blood sugar. Also, make sure you get fat in your meals (from healthy sources like avocado, butter, olive oil, coconut oil, etc and not fake fats like margarine).
Avatar m tn d need to experiment just how much you need to bring you up appropriately. If your blood sugar was 20 and assuming 1 gram of sugar would bring you up 5 points and you want to be at 80 then you'd need 12 grams of pure sugar. As an athlete I've also found that the sugar in soft drinks is very readily available. Though the acid isn't good for teeth. Anyway, you may try this too.
1082697 tn?1260064616 he looks so good. i know a diet high in fiber has lots of carbs. the only sugar i eat is in fruit. i do love salads and greens. thank so much for the info. i have several cook books here on low carb meals. guess i better get them out. you have been so helpful. i thank you again.
Avatar m tn Because a non-diabetic A1c is less than 5% and one hour after eating 102 gram of Carbs is less than 120mg/dl. The sad fact about being pre-diabetic is like a little pregnant . All Diabetics 2 at one point were non-Diabetics 2. If I were you, I would read the book "Solutions for Diabetis"by DR. Richard Beinstein and follow his recommendation on diets(6,12,12) Hopefully, you will live the rest of your life without any complication from Diabetes. I wish you the best.
Avatar n tn In addition to Asok, Google search the difference between simple and complex carbs. We need carbs for energy. Learn, understand, and apply why simple carbs should be avoided and why complex carbs should be increased in ones diet. Being prediabetic means you have a very good chance of reversing yourself back to normal. To do this one MUST adhere to lifestyle changes; proper nutrition, maintain proper body weight, and perform daily 30 minute physical exercise. Ignore one defeats the others.
Avatar f tn I recently went through some lab work to find out why my menstrual cycle was messed up and it was discovered that I was "insulin resistant". Now my doctor did not give me much information but placed me on metformin 500mg twice a day. (Nasty side effects) I have a huge family history of type 2 diabetes and do not want to progress to having it myself. My question is prediabetes and insulin resistant the same thing? I was told I needed to lose weight..which I have been trying to do.
Tbd It usually involves cutting all added sugars, grains, sweet fruits and starchy veges. Low carb is defined as less than 100g of carbs per day. Very low carb is 25 - 50 g of carb per day. When you cut carbs you still energy so you get this from increasing your fat intake and making sure you have enough protein. Enough protein can be at least 100g for a woman and probably about 120g for a man. You can use a diet tracker to work out which foods have how much carbs, protein, and fats.
Avatar m tn Some have minute amounts of sugar and carbs others not. For example Herbalife - Shake-Formula 1 Fr Vanilla has 13 grams of carbs but 9 grams of sugar, a little over a heaping tablespoon of sugar....not healthy.
790165 tn?1268836968 All carbs are converted into sugar in the blood. Simple carbs (like those found in sweets) are converted into sugar rapidly so will make your blood sugar spike quickly (making it easier to . Complex carbs (like those found in breads, pastas, etc) take longer to be converted into sugar, so they raise blood sugar more slowly. Two books I recommend are the Insulin Resistance Diet and the PCOS Workbook, both talk extensively about diet and identify foods to avoid.
Avatar m tn org and our Sugar Sense app gives an average number of carbs per meal (45 to 65 grams); you can use these numbers as a guideline but should also check with your healthcare provider. http://www.medhelp.
7058746 tn?1393435420 I have it too and the diet my nutritionist put me on was 15g of carbs for breakfast. Then lunch and dinner between 50-60g. 2-3 snacks per day. No juices or milk. Lots and lots of water. Proteins are great (I'm vegetarian so this was a little harder to stay full) and no more sugary delicious food haha. Plus 20-30 minutes of exercise per day. Then check ur sugar levels when you wake up, then 1 hr after every meal (not snacks). My glucose levels stay perfect as long as I don't cheat.
Avatar n tn If the drink has stevia why does it also have sugar? the 12gr of sugar is included in the 13gr of carbs so its not carbs "and" sugar its carbs "including" sugar. 12gr of sugar would raise my BG 50 points. I dont know what it would do to your BG.
6938807 tn?1395163288 Roughly 30-40% of the population are, conversely, very sensitive to carbohydrates and appear to be quite insulin resistant until nearly the last gram of sugar and most carbohydrates are removed from their diets. Then there is the rest of population, which includes me. To varying degrees, we’re somewhere between these two groups.
3060903 tn?1398565123 long], however, contains 51 grams of carbs and 28 grams of carb sugar. Carbs turn into sugar after eating. Some diabetics can tolerate this amount of carbs and carb sugars while others not. The only way for you to know is to test b4 eating [preprandial] and 2-3 hrs after eating [postprandial]. I's best to eat fruits prior to a workout. Your body will burn of glycogen as energy is needed. Also, eat fruits which are low in fructose such as melons and berries.
Avatar f tn These beans have 16 grams of protein per 200 gram serving. This is by far one of the best sources of protein for vegetarians. 3. Kidney Beans Coming in third, kidney beans provide 15 grams of protein per 200 gram serving. Kidney beans are rich in protein, and they are a hearty food as well. 4. Baked Beans Like the other beans, baked beans are high in protein as well. With 12 grams of protein per 200 gram servings, baked beans are a great vegetarian protein source. 5.
Avatar n tn Next time I eat 45 g of carbs I will try 4 units of insulin). I actually finally worked out that I need 1 unit of insulin for about 10 g of carbs. It also helps to restrict carbs. I typically eat few carbs - mainly vegetables - and only need to inject 1 or 2 units of insulin per meal. Ideally your doctor would refer you a diabetes educator who can help you with this.
