Avatar n tn Our doctor gave us no idea on how to accomplish this. I was told by someone else she needs to take in 250 - 300 grams of carbs per day. Is there a list somewhere of foods and there carb value. Also which are good carbs and which are empty carbs? Gaining 1/4 of her body weight seems excessive.
Avatar f tn My nutritionist put me on a plan of 45g carbs per meal, breakfast lunch and dinner, and three snacks per day at about 15-20g carbs in each snack. High protein to give you energy and all the veggies you want, to fill you up. I eat lots of green salads with lean meat (baked chicken, usually).
315318 tn?1353251800 I am currently trying to also reduce my insulin intake ( a fattening agent in an indirect way) by reducing the amount of carbs I eat. Cheese, in my experience, also generally reduces your appetite. The phenomenon of bleeding after eating the 75% reduced fat cheese is real and I have monitored it for over a year by stopping eating it and then starting it again a few months later. Without fail, the bleeding returns. This does not happen with 50% reduced fat or normal fat cheese.
Avatar f tn My meal plan is breakfast I get 30 grams of carbs with no fruit and a snack 2 hours later containing 15 grams of carbs lunch and dinner I get 45 grams of carbs with a snack two hours after each meal. Snacks could be crackers with cheese or apples with peanut butter, just really watch your carb intake.

Avatar f tn As soon as the potatoes are done I add seasonings and crack the egg and add it straight to the potatoes. I mix it up and let it cook. Then I add in the cheese and turkey bacon. Since it is one of my favorite things, I asked specifically about it and my midwife told me that with the eggs, cheese, and bacon with the potato made it just fine. Of course you still want to eat fruits and veggies, but just because you have gd doesn't mean you can't eat what you like.
Avatar f tn t be any more than 30g of carbs. I check my blood sugar first thing in the morning, and two hours after each meal so 4 times a day. If your tests come back positive that you have gd they will send you to a dietician who will explain what you're allowed to have and how much you can have.
Evillady So reducing the carbs you eat will help in BG control. So I eat salad and steak, veggies, no fruit (fruit has a lot of carbs) eggs, bacon, cheese, chicken, fish, garlic, and lots of herbs and spices and hot spices. There are other diabetic news groups with recipe sections.
212161 tn?1599427282 To add to Super_sally888 about low carbs, you posted "two hours after i eat its around 169 i had a cheese burger .baked fries and mac/cheese." What jacked your glucose up to 169 mg/dl was white flour [burger bun], and fries [potatoes] and the pasta [high starch]. Avoid white foods, foods made with white flour, including potatoes and pasta. These are considered simple carbs, the sugars & starches in them are quickly absorbed into the bloodstream. Complex carbs are slowly absorbed.
Avatar f tn I found out I was a diabetic when i found out I was pregnant i thought the same thing that I couldn't eat anything what really does it is the carbs if you eat carbs just eat a little and no sweets at all
Avatar f tn I have that problem also and it took me a while to figure it out. When I eat mexican or chinese food those carbs take a long time to get in your blood. So the insulin was getting in my blood before the carbs and caused me lows. Then I would eat something or drink juice and later on my sugar would be high because of those slow carbs that finally made it to my blood. What I do know is take some insulin and 2 hours later take some more.
Avatar f tn Do 45 grams of carbs three times a day and 15 grams twice. Veg u don't have to count and stuff like cheese u don't have too count, fruits are high in sugar.
594189 tn?1386916607 Smart carbs tend to be whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables. Basically things high in fiber are smart carbs. I thinking that milk is a protein? Going with Skim or 1% is good. I have much to learn myself yet but I do know that I have been basically following the Canadian Food Guide which highly promotes whole grains.
1472764 tn?1287588186 But in that 1st trimester, all I could eat was carbs, carbs, carbs - that and V-8, oddly. It was such a change in my diet but I could not stomach any of my typical foods - so I know what you mean. I figured there was a reason for it and I just went with it. By the time my second trimester came around, I could eat all my same foods again - so don't worry, this phase won't last long.

429164 tn?1321558847 I also found that high fat items reduce the speed at which carbs are absorbed-so having cheese with your carbs technically means you could have more! Only 6 or so weeks till I'll be back on the chocolate! Anyone else been told they're being induced early?
6918915 tn?1395932871 It might be something you can stomach that would help get some protien in there. I definitely feel your pain though. I ate mostly crackers abs cream cheese for a while at the beginning.
212161 tn?1599427282 THe meal you report eating was extremely high in carbs. A Roll, Mac and cheese, fries and choc pudding. Essentially a huge amount of fat and carbohydrates. Many people would probably have high sugars on such a meal. You should be managing what you eat to keep your 2 hour post eating lower. You will have complications if your sugars are consistently higher than 140.
Avatar f tn You can eat blue cheese as long as it's cooked, so blue cheese on pizza is ok. If you want to eat tuna, eat plenty of fresh coriander afterwards (add it to a fruit smoothie or juice it with plenty of fruits). Coriander helps take metals out of the body.
