193609 tn?1292180293 What is the recommended number of carbs to eat per day? I am using a calorie counter and I am good there, but not sure how many carbs per day will equal weight loss??? Thanks!
Avatar f tn After that experience with the apple, the exact same reaction started to happen after eating all fruit and most veg (only raw veg so I can have most cooked veg like brocolli, carrots etc). I then discovered recently that I’m also allergic to the majority of raw nuts. The allergist diagnosed me with Oral Allergy Syndrome (OAS) although he noticed that I also reacted to a few nuts which aren’t part of OAS which caused him to be concerned and issue me with an epi-pen.
Avatar f tn Im coming up to 14weeks with my 3rd baby and I'm struggling to eat healthy. Before pregnancy I'd eat incredibly healthy lots of fish, veg, fruit but none of these things are appealing to me much. Every now and then but carbs are on the top of my thing's that taste better. Ive always got a strange taste in my mouth and at times puts me of eating completely which isnt like me. I was just wondering if any of you girls are experiencing the same thing.....
Avatar f tn Choose good fats (olive oil, avocado, grass fed butter, linseed oil, chia seeds), protein (fish, eggs, canned/dried beans, nuts, seeds, chicken, red meat, some cheese) and veg (anything, just choose more veg than fruit) over carbs. And when eating carbs make sure they're wholegrain. That's what I focus my meal plans around. That way any extra snacks or indulgences full of sugar or white flour don't throw my diet into carb overload.
Avatar f tn I NEVER recommend trying to eat a certain amount of carbs, I believe we should limit them as much as possible unless your sugar dips too low. Focus on eating as many leafy green veggies as possible. Drink lots of water. And try to limit your carbs cutting out bread, rice and sugar of course. Keep in mind some things that sound healthy are not actually good for diabetics. For example, oatmeal, squash, wheat bread and so on. You might want to look up paleo.
Avatar f tn These things can happen, body needs to adjust, with these kind of meds thats often the case. If it stays this way for over two weeks you need to see your doc i think.

Avatar f tn I really want to lose weight, and be slim, currently weighing at 86kg, and at 5ft6. I used to go to the gym but got bored, I eat healthy, lots of fruit and veg, hardly eat any carbs and don't know what I am doing wrong. Any ideas?
1675455 tn?1328478107 Typical Atkins induction diet limits carbs to 20g per day for the first 2weeks, but if you don't follow that then usually anything under 80g gives good results. It HAS to be from low-GI veg/fruits/nuts/etc though, no processed stuff. And remember to drink enough water, it really is essential!
Avatar f tn This helped me allot as the sugar in foods make people with PCOS fat - so all carbs make you fat - all white rice , white break and pasta that is white , So no more cookies ect , you need to be eating - fresh veg and meat and brown whole wheat stuff and not too much rather eat more salad and veg and meat then the carbs.
11634465 tn?1421827735 Adopting a low carb, moderate protein and high fats (from natural sources) diet will help you control blood sugar and satisfy your hunger. Eliminate grains and starchy stuff, like pasta, bread, rice, potatoes, beans, and eliminate sugars. Eat non starchy veg frequently, while limiting fruits to occasional treats. Don't be shy with good fats (avocado, grass fed butter, olive oil, nuts, etc), and stay away from fake fats like margarine.
Avatar n tn Feed small meals through out the day , this is better than feeding one big meal .Offer lots of complex carbs to your child, toast made with whole grain bread , breads, pasta's aswell as veg and fruits .Supplement the diet with high calorie smoothies using a variety of fruits and crushed ice ,milk and flax seed oil, flax supplies a healthy form of fat.Enjoy meals as a family making eating a fun activity he will want to do .good Luck let us know how he gets on .
Avatar m tn Salmon oil is also a good additive to put in their food. For carbs, (cooked) potatoes and both brown and white rice -are all okay for dogs. So is wholemeal pasta. But not too many carbs. And you may need a food supplement tablet recommended for dogs to give daily. No bones. Remove bones. Use lean meats, don't let them eat meat fat or fatty skin. Some oils are essential for dogs in the correct amount daily, but not fatty foods.
Avatar n tn The key is looking at portion size (how much carbs) and making sure that you eat fat, protein and carbs together to slow digestion and keep blood sugars stable.
Avatar f tn I kept it diet controlled by eating no more than half q handful of wholegrain carbs per day.. lots of veg and protein ..and cutting out sugar. You should ask the doc or midwife for diet advice. I was reffered to a diabetic team and dietician. Will probably have it all again with this pregnancy. If you can't control it with diet alone they will pit you on metformin which is what I had for the last five weeks.
1472764 tn?1287588186 But in that 1st trimester, all I could eat was carbs, carbs, carbs - that and V-8, oddly. It was such a change in my diet but I could not stomach any of my typical foods - so I know what you mean. I figured there was a reason for it and I just went with it. By the time my second trimester came around, I could eat all my same foods again - so don't worry, this phase won't last long.
Avatar n tn Make sure that the food he has access to is good and nourishing, lots of veg, fruit, protein, if you do not buy into the house the other high carbs etc he will not gain weight, you buy the food its in your control.Make sure he has plenty of exercise .let him snack all he wants to, just make sure the snacks are healthy ...
1305024 tn?1273133951 To adjust this - rather than eating less, you should eat more of particular food groups (fruit and veg) and alternate the amounts of carbs/proteins in your diet. My mum has used a very successful diet for many years where each day you choose whether you want to eat mostly protein or carbs (and we're obviously talking lean proteins and whole grain carbs/cooked without lashings of oil etc) however of both days you MUST eat from all the foodgroups.
Avatar n tn now at what time do u eat your fruit is it with meals or in between cause there is a big difference --fruit is quick sugar of the good kind -and quick sugar in ibs will cause loose stools -fruit in best taken in between meals on its own--veg is also good for u but what kind are u having --also raw veg is difficult to digest for people who have ibs its better lightly cooked or steamed .i wont go into fatty foods u probably know all about those.
Avatar f tn I have this problem, it caused an ulcer in my stomach, I had to be on a diet of low acidic foods such as veg, low acid fruit, only whole grain - never seeded - bread. No white carbs at all. Only water, no sugary foods/drinks and no caffeine either. It's an extremely healthy diet but not much fun lol. I was prescribed gaviscon and omeprizol, a stomach acid blocker.
