SAM-e is directly related to the production of certain hormones, such as dopamine and serotonin. Dopamine is responsible for feelings of well-being and pleasure.
Avatar m tn Try to keep carbohydrates(starches) more complex instead of simple, for instance wheat bread instead of white, brown rice instead of white. Vegetables that are non-starchy, such as carrots, lettuce, spinach, squash etc are very good. Keep fruits in the diet but watch for rises in blood sugars. Drink lots of water if other medical issues allow(if your mother has heart issues she may not be able to drink lots of water).
Avatar f tn Eat low-calorie foods that fill you up. Your diet should consist primarily of vegetables and lean proteins. Eat lettuce, celery, broccoli, green beans, spinach, and other greens. For protein, eat chicken, turkey, fish, and tofu. Vegetables and proteins fill you up quickly and have very few calories.

Avatar n tn Some raw vegetables are indeed very hard for anyone to digest, such as broccoli and kale, but others, such as sprouts and carrots, are not, so eliminating all raw vegetables is silly. Avatar f tn I read that carbohydrates are the main source of energy, so it is important to eat some amount of carbohydrates daily so the body is able to function. There are different types of carbohydrates. For example breads, pasta, potatoes and rice and then there are vegetables and fruits. 1266263 tn?1270153368 Hi, The best fuel for muscles is carbohydrates, either simple sugars such as naturally occurring sugars in fruits and juices or complex carbohydrates the starches in whole grain products, rice, cereal, oatmeal and other plant foods. These carbohydrates provide not only energy but also important vitamins and minerals. You store only carbohydrates not protein or fats in your muscles in the form of sugar called glycogen. During hard exercise, you burn this glycogen for energy.
