Avatar f tn POP is HORRIBLE for dieting. Reqular pop has over 20 grams of sugar in 1 can and just as many grams of carbohydrates! In order to loose weight you have to cut back sugar and carbs. Diet soda doesn't have sugar or carbs but it has something in it that makes your appetite increase! Just say NO to pop! You will be glad you did!
10221785 tn?1410990458 3 small meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) and 3 snacks in between (one of those being a bed time snack) I started looking at the sugar content too but the dietician told me what matter is the total carbohydrates!!! For snack time you do not want to exceed over 30 grams of carbohydrates. Stay away from cereal, milk, and fruit in the morning. Eat lots of veggies and proteins. No juice, pop, sugary coffees, etc...
Avatar n tn Google Glycemic Index [GI] and understand the difference between good carbs [complex] and bad carbs [simple]. Carbohydrates [simple carbs] that break down quickly during digestion and release sugar rapidly into the bloodstream have a high GI; carbohydrates that break down more slowly, releasing sugar more gradually into the bloodstream, have a low GI. As asok mentioned, watch the carbs. Carbs are wreak havoc to a t2 diabetics glucose level. 2.

Avatar m tn What does make a point tho is that complex carbohydrates take longer time to break down in your body to that means the blood glucose remains more stable. Complex carbohydrates are startchy food like patatoes, rice and pastas. Simple carbohydrates are what you should avoid and those are desserts and candies.
Avatar m tn Hi Well not in the sense that it will ruin your life but carbs and sugar is what fuels our bodies so we do tend to crave that kind of stuff. I would be careful on a diet that is too low in carbs. I know it's all the rage as far as dieting goes today but it is really an unhealthy way to lose weight when taken to extreme.

Avatar m tn To reduce your ha1c, you need to avoid foods that raise your blood sugar. in particular this would mean avoiding refined carbohydrates. The best way to see the effects of food on your sugar levels is to test using a home test kit 2 hours after eating. If your levels are really high medications like metformin may also help. However, if your levels are really high you should be working with a doctor to optimise your levels.
3923358 tn?1358552214 I found I actually had something wrong with my adrenal glands that was making my blood sugar go like that. I also actually later in the day eat way too many carbs i like my sodas, cakes, and crackers on a daily basis. I've been told to cut back. But with breakfast i don't eat much cause I'm not hungry and it makes me feel sick. But thanks for the info/advice.
Avatar m tn Take your insulin, then eat your dinner, then test your blood sugar 2 hours after starting to eat dinner. Your blood sugar should ideally not be higher than 40 units above your predinner number (ie. 140). Don't eat anything further (unless you go low early) and then test again at 3 and 5 hours. If you are low by 5 hours you will need to take a lower dose of insulin the next evening - reduce by say 2 units.
Tbd I do know that carbohydrates raise BG... ALL carbohydrates will raise your BG. brown rice is a carb and will raise BG, so is wheat, potato, sugar and most fruits.
Avatar f tn its carbohydrates, your body converts ALL carbohydrates to blood sugar. You should see a MD. while that is a little high for fasting. try testing 1 hour after you eat the biggest meal of the day. That will tell you how well your body tolerate carbs. DID you measure you BG after you were exercising? that can raise BG. Also hormones can do funny things to BG. Dont stress too much, but get checked out. knowing is knowledge and knowledge is power.

1211508 tn?1343079605 Mine usually hovers around exact same as yours, I am 50 years old and I am beginning to cut out things like jam and jelly, orange juice cranberry juice things like that which are loaded but sugar, even fruit can be high in sugar as well. My treat for drinking water, which I absolutely hate is to drink some sparkling water with a tad bit of organic cranberry juice and, it just give it a tiny bit of sweetness without being supersweet.
1266263 tn?1270153368 Hi, The best fuel for muscles is carbohydrates, either simple sugars such as naturally occurring sugars in fruits and juices or complex carbohydrates the starches in whole grain products, rice, cereal, oatmeal and other plant foods. These carbohydrates provide not only energy but also important vitamins and minerals. You store only carbohydrates not protein or fats in your muscles in the form of sugar called glycogen. During hard exercise, you burn this glycogen for energy.
