401095 tn?1351391770 Foods That Increase Your Dopamine And Norepinephrine Naturally! What we eat affects the formation of neurotransmitters, and some diet-related neurotransmitters have a significant affect on our mood, our appetite and our cravings. This in turn causes the brain to communicate in the form of an impulse (craving for certain foods) the need for certain neurotransmitters that it requires to restore balance.

(fat) So, in my opinion, if you're trying to use your reserves, it's important that you try and avoid high sugar intake, but the other carbs are fine.
594189 tn?1386916607 When we are exhausted or blue, we have low blood sugar and/or low serotonin, and the body signals the brain that it needs a pick-me-up. This signal causes a sugar craving or carbohydrate craving. Serotonin is our basic feel-good hormone. If serotonin is low, we feel sad or depressed. And hormonal imbalance or weak digestion can lead to low serotonin.
256553 tn?1258883918 Thank-you for posting your question as I think many people misunderstand the low carbohydrate dieting. First off, Carbohydrates are our immediate energy and so without it you will probably feel like you are constantly "hitting the wall" and leaving your body in fatigue, dehydration (which gives the illusion of weight loss), energy loss, and excessive protein breakdown with a buildup of ketones in the body. Protein is NOT used for energy it is the building blocks of the body ie.
Avatar m tn t store protein the same way it stores fat and carbohydrates. You need to consume the amount of protein that your body requires in a day. You need protein to maintain your muscles, skin and other organs. Proteins are also essential to build and repair cells. Even proper digestion and body fluids rely on an adequate supply of dietary proteins. According to the Institute of Medicine, most adults need to consume roughly 0.8 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight per day, or 0.
Avatar f tn If you engage in a high protein diet, your body will use stored body fat for energy as it will not have carbohydrates. Protein also enables you to stay fuller for longer. If you are going to eat carbohydrates, eat them separately as a snack, and avoid having them after 4pm. Avatar f tn If you go on low carbs your body in time will rebel and go into survival mode and dump in glucose it creates since the body needs carbs to survive. Since our pancreas does not function efficiently it cannot process the insulin needed to counter act. Also overnight your body can have the dawn effect - basically between the early morning hours it will dump in the glucose and then it is not processed efficiently.
Avatar f tn I'm not sure I understand what kind of help you want. Maybe someone else does...? I can only try and explain the situation, which you maybe already understand. So, if you say he's type 1, that means that his immune system has destroyed part of pancreas that produces insulin. Rest of pancreas is still intact. This probably happened because his immune system identified the insulin as an enemy and destroyed the source of it. Why it suddenly sees it as an enemy is still a mystery.
Avatar f tn Resistance training, running and any other strenuous exercise deplete glycogen in the muscles. Recovery sports drinks are superior to water because the body needs more than just water after exercise to replenish energy stores. During recovery, the body is busy removing lactic acid and replacing depleted glycogen supply.
Avatar m tn Good question, although it is very vague; Good nutrition varies from person to person, with varying factors such as age, weight, and health conditions.
Avatar f tn I am at the end of my tether and don't know what to do, need some helpful advice. I am a single mum to my 5 year old daughter. For the last 4 or 5 months her eating habits have been terrible. She doesn't eat bread, potatoes, pasta or rice...therefore she is getting no carbs...she doesn't seem to be lacking in energy but I'm extremely worried about her. I've tried explaining to her that we need food t give us energy and that she needs to eat else she'll get poorly.
Avatar n tn Complex carbs contain essential nutrients and minerals that will help your body develop after working out. A slice of wheat bread, or one half cup of white or brown rice, is a serving of complex carbs. To gain weight, eat 6 to 10 servings per day. Consume more lean meats and legumes to increase the available protein your body needs to rebuild muscles after working out.
Avatar f tn s no denying that as we age chronologically, our body ages right along with us. The good news is that you can increase your chances of maintaining a healthy brain -- if you add "smart" foods and beverages to your diet. Caffeine Can Make You More Alert There's no magic bullet to boost IQ or make you smarter -- but certain substances, like caffeine, can energize and help you focus and concentrate.
Avatar f tn ) Is it possible you are not eating what your body needs for you to get through the night not hungry? A well balance meal, with simple sugar (such as fruit), carbohydrates, protein, and fat? First the body burns the sugar for energy, then the carbs get used, then protein, and lastly fat is used. I know the problem from personal experience!
320078 tn?1278344720 All your energy needs to be directed to Nick right now. This forum and our posts is our way of doing what WE can to support you and Nick. There is nothing to feel guilty about and nothing at all out of sorts here. People are entitled to their opinions and that particular opinion, I prefer to just read and carry on with the business of what this thread was started for and what the posts should be about ... and plenty of other places to post for other things. And no worries, Elaine...
Avatar f tn The more muscle you build the more fat you burn. Fat is stored energy in the body that comes from eating foods high in fat and high in carbohydrates. If you do cardio regularly and lose 5 kgs of fat you will look leaner and thinner even if you put some muscle. Body mass index can be easily calculated at home, just go to some online search engine and calculate your BMI. Take care!
Avatar m tn I know this sounds gross, but try drinking some apple cider vinager once a day. I had the same problem that u have. What u have is high ph levels and high ammonia levels. I had a nurse tell me about the applecider vinager. Also try wearing painty liners that r deorderant type. Hope this helps you.
Avatar m tn These foods cause inflammation responses in your body that make losing weight almost impossible. That being said, not everyone is sensitive to them, and not everyone will respond in the same way, but health and waistline will improve by avoiding (or minimizing) these foods. Exercise also needs to be used! Toxins from pesticides, plastic by products and lots of other stuff. They are found in our foods, water we drink, the air we breathe, and even in our homes.
Avatar m tn This leads to a lack of insulin, which the body needs to use glucose for energy. The exact cause of type 1 diabetes is unknown, but it is thought to be related to genetics and environmental factors. Type 2 diabetes, on the other hand, is caused by a combination of genetic factors and lifestyle. People who are overweight or obese, lead sedentary lifestyles, have a family history of diabetes, or have high blood pressure or cholesterol levels are at increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
