The reason protein and fat before bed is because it's the longest period of time your body goes without any food, fat slows down your digestive track allow the protein to digest slowly giving you a great full body recovery especially if you exercise regularly.

My doc said its common & said the supplements would probably be constipating so instead gave me a list of iron rich foods with amounts of iron per serving. Cream of wheat was on the list. I'm sure you could google foods if they didn't give you any suggestions at your office.
