Avatar m tn Alcohol does have carbohydrates in it, but different types of beverages have different amounts of carbs. It has a lot to do with what is used to make the alcohol and how it is made. (ie: many beers are made from wheat, barley, corn, or rice...typically high in carbohydrates. Wine is often made from grapes or other fruits that are then fermented to produce alcohol) In short- alcohol does have carbohydrates, but the amount of carbs varies a good bit between various types of drinks.

Avatar m tn I'm curious when you say Mediterranean diet but say no wine? That kind of rules out that diet, which is partly based on the antioxidants contained in red wine. It's also very high in olive oil and fatty fish, which should give you pretty good HDL levels -- in fact, looking at the numbers, your HDL isn't all that low, at least from what you report -- a couple fish oil or flax seed capsules a day should elevate it.
Avatar f tn But I eat nuts, meats, eggs, avocado, all vegeteables except corn and potatoes, dairy. I do drink wine in moderation. I am doing fine and feeling great on this diet. I would normally eat about 50 - 70 g of carbs per day. My blood sugars can be well controlled on this diet, without medication. In high glycaemic index foods, the carbohydrates are broken down very quickly, and have bigger impact on blood sugar than lower GI foods. Ie. beans and bagel.

Of course wine has some carbs too. I am on a low carb diet and 20 grams of carbohydrates or less is my meal time goals. I'd suggest trimming back on the carbs just a little, increase your water intake, and mix up your routine in the gym. I just completely overhauled my workouts and am seeing positives immediately.

I too experience a racing heart after I eat a meal too high in carbohydrates, with not enough fat & protein. I've discovered I'm a Protein Metabolic type. I was experiencing lots of low energy and mood swings, had a hard time keeping the weight on, but had odd pockets of fat around the middle.

White wine has more sulfites than red wine. I feel that alone wine ingestion is not responsible for these swellings.A predisposing pathology has to be there.As you are a perimenopausal female,so the chances of arthritis are more likely. Avatar f tn Supposedly it is good for mom bc it helps with aches and pains and sleep and whatnot, but not to exceed that glass a night. And I even read a study saying that the antioxidants in wine can be good for baby, but once again as long as you dont exceed that one glass.

Avatar m tn Hi, glad to see that you're doing well ignoring the benign pvcs. I too have them and used to get a jolt of adrenalin that would send me into a panic. Now 6 months after going for 60 minute walks 5 days a week I don't panic as much. The occurrences have dropped substantially. They haven't gone away but they're ALOT less and less noticeable. As you mention I think being active and slowly working up to a moderate exercise routine is the best way to 'cure' it.

You make this choice over and over during pregnancy ... on anything that can affect your body to the possible detriment of your potential baby, you just to have to decide whether you would feel it was your fault in the event things don't go right.
