Avatar n tn Suggest the supplement Pulmocare (3x a day) which is high in fat and lower in carbohydrates that may help with lower production of CO2 and maintain/gain weight.
Avatar m tn Hi, So I'm not a very big drinker at all, but when I do drink I have to make sure to avoid Rum at all costs. I don't know what is going on, but as soon as I drink anything with rum in it my heart really hurts, and so does my back or spine. The pain is REALLY uncomfortable and sometimes it makes it very difficult for me to breathe. It honestly feels like someone is squeezing my heart, and that my spinal cord is being clenched. I was wondering if these seem like symptoms of a rum allergy?
Avatar f tn Hi I am curious twice I went to a chain restraint (same one) and I usually drink Bacardi and coke, but this place only had Cruzan and each time I had one hours later I had a seizure could I possibly be allergic to this particular type of rum, I can drink wine and have no problems it's just this rum??
Avatar f tn when i drink rum i wake up in in the middle of the night very congested and throughout the whole next day. I don't get hives or trouble breathing but unable to breath through my noise whatsover. Could it be an allergy?
Avatar f tn The rum itself is about 10 years or older, I got it free from my friends mother who was giving away a ton of alcohol. In the same night drinking, I noticed in the left half of my left hand (Palm down) were kinda aching but nothing serious very very mild. I recognized this feeling as it happened the night I had 5 beers, but it went away easily by morning. I thought hey that's pretty nifty, a body indicator that shows how intoxicated I am.
Avatar m tn Alcohol does have carbohydrates in it, but different types of beverages have different amounts of carbs. It has a lot to do with what is used to make the alcohol and how it is made. (ie: many beers are made from wheat, barley, corn, or rice...typically high in carbohydrates. Wine is often made from grapes or other fruits that are then fermented to produce alcohol) In short- alcohol does have carbohydrates, but the amount of carbs varies a good bit between various types of drinks.
Avatar f tn everytime i drink rum i wake up in the middle of the night very congested and throughout the whole next day...could it be an allergic reaction?
Avatar f tn The other night I noticed the same effect with dark rum. The night was going fine (around 2 drinks in, just wine and whiskey) until I had some rum, and even though that was my last drink (around midnight), I felt dizzy and out of sorts (not just drunk) well past when I should have. That night I woke up to throw up and the next day I basically could not leave my bed without releiving my belly. It felt very similar to food poisoning. I was tired and dizzy and consistently nauseous.
1084115 tn?1385228589 I am a recovering alcoholic and there is a little Bistro down the street that makes the most incredible Rum Cake I have ever tasted. Of course it has rum in the cake but lots in this syrup dressing that covers it. Anyway I have tasted all kinds of stuff like that over the years and never got that tingly, whirring feeling in the back of my head like Whoa when I tasted their cake.
Avatar n tn I think that I'm allergic to rum. I drink rum and coke pretty often. Specifically Myers or Capt. Morgan. About a month ago I noticed that my lips were slightly swollen, and the swelling seems to correspond with days that I drink more heavily. Has any one experienced anything like this?
Avatar f tn I seem to have a weird symptoms when I had drinks. I would get itchy all over my body when I had beer, (red) wine, whiskey, rum, brandy and don't have such problem with white wine, vodka, gin, and tequila. And I would get really sick if I had whiskey or rum (even with the small dose). What's wrong with me? I looked it up and it seems like the only connections between those beverage are oak casks (maybe not for beer though).
Avatar n tn On July 24th I went to my yearly routine physical. Later that day I was planning on going to the pool and my soccer practice, I felt fine. At the physical my doctor told me that they notice ketones in my urine so they decided to send me to the hospital to get bloodwork done. The nurse checked my bloodsugar and it turned out I was at 950. Yes I know that is rediculous, the nurses weren't sure how I was still conscious let alone feeling well enough to be physically active.
Avatar n tn After drinking coke and pepsi mixed with jamaican rum along with some chinese food earlier and popcorn and a chocolate bar i went to bed and woke up with this terrible feeling that my whole body was vibrating. It was awful and I need to know what it was.

Avatar f tn Hi, I drink other alcoholic beverages but when I drink something with several different types of rum every muscle in my body feels like it’s contracting I honestly thought I was having a heart attack. It’s in my shoulders my stomach my chest. It’s like a squeezing sensation. Is this a allergic reaction?
Avatar f tn about a year and a half ago, my husband and I started drinking a little more than a few glasses of wine or beer daily. My drink is rum. On a daily basis we go through a 5th of rum now for a year pretty much daily. My husband stopped, so I do about half of the bottle myself. Now I'm about to stop doing this because of the health factor and the weight gain, but Now for about a year I have had diarrhea daily and it's always watery and the color of the rum.
Avatar n tn Well, honey is going to raise your BG its a sugar, all sugars are carbohydrates. its carbohydrates that raise BG not just sugars. so whats wrong with blue agave?
Avatar n tn The only thing that the different types of sugars is to perhaps change how fast a food with a certain number of carbohydrates in it is digested and therefore absorbed by the body. So diabetics need to be aware of the glycemic index factor of all that we eat or drink as well as the carb content. Sugars of different types alone are not the only factors in how long it takes to digest the food or drink. Fat content is also a big factor.
649848 tn?1534633700 Generally, beer has more calories than wine, but the calorie difference in the two primarily comes from the leftover carbohydrates in beer, as the sugar content for most wines is fairly low. Low-calorie beers have an additional enzyme added during the brewing or fermentation process, and it breaks down all of the starch molecules into simple sugars so there are no remaining carbohydrates.

7894272 tn?1395206727 We use it to measure how much energy is available in the food we intact and how much energy we use when doing activities. Carbohydrates are a part of the food we eat just like protien and fat. Carbs are high in energy. The goal with weight loss is to create a deficit so you want to use more calories each day than you intake. You will here about lots of low carb diets and this is usually because they are packed with calories and if not used will turn to sugars in your body.
Avatar n tn Some months ago, I started a specialized diet; it contains relatively few carbohydrates, and my persistent heartburn went away. I didn't think much of it until I discovered the writings of Dr.
Avatar f tn I have the same problem! Only Vodka and tequila!!! And to the commenter, it's not a contradiction, and she's not an alcoholic in need of sobriety... I stick to Rum only... Maybe Whisky is your thing... I've tried looking into this and it has something to do with the processing of the plants used to make the alcohol..
