I believe that can happen from castor oil because it can dehydrated the mother from excessive diarrhea and water loss, put her in labor, and cause other complications. when I was about 16 weeks I tried taking milk of magnesia and the first time did nothing so a day later I took the full dosage and followed it with warm apple juice instead of water, that was the only thing that would help me and my little gi is perfectly healthy

I take colace 3 times a day already and it is not helping and milk of magnesia makes me sick to my tummy so I'm gonna take some miralax see if that gets things moving along...

Thanks...but an update..DO NOT continue to take colace and milk of magnesia. ..it took a couple of days and at first I felt great..but now, I'm in the bathroom too much! No Bueno.

When I was constipated I used both of those in the same day in a matter of 5 minutes after usage I went to the bathroom. Good luck!!!

I doubt that the headaches have any connection to the medications. If by magnesia, you mean milk of magnesia, then it is safe to take either miralax or milk of magnesia for long periods of time (like years) as long as you are seeing a doctor while doing this. You shouldn't take these medications for more than a week as doubleaaaron says, if you are not seeing a doctor. If you are seeing a doctor then it is safe.

Drink lots of water and eat fiber rich foods (fruits and vegetables work great for me but there's plenty of fiber rich foods). If you still can't go, metamucil, colace, and milk of magnesia are safe to take while pregnant.

You can also take Milk of Magnesia, it is nasty but it will work!

The only 2 things that help me is to get a very hot bath to calm the stomach and milk of magnesia. For some reason, I got very blocked up every couple weeks and get to the point where I NEED milk of magnesia. My stomach is always rock hard. I dont know what to do... I dont have money to go to a doctor. I have no insurance. There are no clinics around and our state medical assistance is at an all time high waiting list....
