Avatar n tn Distressing heartburn is often the first symptom to disappear following withdrawal of carbohydrates from the die However severe, and even if made worse by factors like the back-flow of gastric juice into the esophagus in hiatal hernia, the chances of success are good. If patients come back with the complaint that the diet is no longer effective and their heartburn has returned, a closer look usually reveals that some carbohydrates have again crept into the diet.
5747555 tn?1408727657 So I'm trying to loose weight - and trying to do something lower/better in carbs to stave off Type 2 diabetes. My doctor swears this will work. But -- where do fruits like grapes (nature's original portable snack food) fit? Are they good or bad. And if the goal is to cut carbs, then does that mean no more grapes, apples, etc? Any suggestions.
1657684 tn?1307375035 Tuna out of a can is not good, it has alot of sodium, and milk, cats usually can not digest and it can give them diarrhea..also Grapes, raisins, chocolate can be very bad for your cat. Please consult with your vet as what cats should not eat, only warning is alot of vets recommend Iams or Science diet for animals as the choice for feeding but I believe there are alot better cat foods out there as I listed above... What you need to look at is the first five ingredients..

Avatar f tn You need to re-hydrate to replace lost fluids and electrolytes from sweat, and carbohydrates to restore muscle glycogen and essential amino acids from high-quality proteins to help repair muscle tissue and stimulate muscle growth. Generally you should try to get 15-25 g of quality protein, with .5-.7 g of carbohydrate per pound of body weight immediately post-exercise.
Avatar n tn Hello all, I'm new to this forum, but as my nickname implies I've been a Type 1 for 31+ yrs now. I can only speak from experience, 15 yrs ago, all there really was to use was Sweet & Low, and thats what I grew up on a a diabetic. I've tried Splenda & Equal and by far I think Equal is much better personally. But back to the question, if you read the packets, it says >1g carb per pack.
Avatar n tn Google Glycemic Index [GI] and understand the difference between good carbs [complex] and bad carbs [simple]. Carbohydrates [simple carbs] that break down quickly during digestion and release sugar rapidly into the bloodstream have a high GI; carbohydrates that break down more slowly, releasing sugar more gradually into the bloodstream, have a low GI. As asok mentioned, watch the carbs. Carbs are wreak havoc to a t2 diabetics glucose level. 2.
3923358 tn?1358552214 The most important things for runners to consider are carbohydrates, protein and fat. And getting the right balance of these three is important. About 60 percent should be carbohydrates, 20 percent protein and 20 percent fat! For higher performance, you need more carbs. because the body converts them into glycogen, a source of energy. glycogen prevents the body from using up proteins! A runner should stick to the good fats like lean meat and low-fat dairy products.
